Inn at St. John’s
About Inn at St. John’s
This unique property became a golf resort in 2006 when the former St. John's Provincial Seminary reopened as the Inn at St. John's, a boutique, four-diamond property adjacent to the 27-hole Brae Burn Golf Club. The 118-room inn features Romanesque architecture, two ballrooms with 25-foot ceilings, a two-story atrium and 22 meeting rooms. The more casual Burger Loft complements the fine dining 5ive Steakhouse and Bar. The course, dating to 1923 before a third nine was added in the 1990s, shares its site with Carl's Golfland at St. John's, one of the country's premier golf stores. There's also a covered, heated range at Carl's to bang balls year-round to prepare for your battle with "The Monster" - the nickname for the 666-yard 13th hole, the longest par 5 in the state.Facts

Greens were moving quick
The course was in pretty good condition. The only downside of this course is the location. A monster landfill sits on the other side of 5 mile
Slow play
Slow play. Golfers were hitting two to three balls. No rangers watching and pushing the pace of play. Took 5 hours to play 18 holes.
Nice course
First time playing this course. was pretty good shape considering the time of year (late October). Greens were very challenging.
Great features.
I'm from Northern Illinois and enjoyed the round especially the longest Par 5 at 666 yards. Planning to play this course again on my next visit to Michigan.
long and hilly
Nice layout big greens has lots of sloping fairways
Ejoyable course to spend a day.
Brae Burn is a pleasure to spend your day golfing.
The staff are exceptionally friendly, and make the outing very special. I will definitely make sure I take a friend next time and introduce him to a great experience.
Solid course
A typical south-eastern Michigan country course. It has a variety of holes, doglegs both directions, uphills and some downhills. Not the most amazing course in the world but a solid choice.
long hitters course
if you have a long club this is your chance to bring it out.theres a nice short cut over the trees on the drive of that long par 5 on the back 9. elevated tee boxs are a plus.fast fairways.putting greens were bumpy due to aeration. Played at twilight pace was good until the last 5 holes (caught up to league players). Good times!
Decent course, undulating greens.
You can be on-in-two, and end up +1 very easy on this course. Turf conditions were nice, but the greens offer very little forgiveness. MapQuest does not identify the proper location of this course...it will route you to Northville Hills.
Bad shape- Needs Maintenance
They should charge $3 to play this course. Everything badly needs attention. The parking lot badly needs maintenance as do the cart paths, the signs havent been painted in years and are chipping, etc. Dont put your ball in the rough, you wont find it since its not mowed enough. There are. well were, sand traps which the place decided was too much work to keep maintained so they just let them get overgrown with grass, its obvious. The maintenance on this place is terrible. I played a cheap metro park which was much better maintained than this place. The greens are screaming fast and wicked- most of my holes were 4 putts- Barely chip it on and it rolls off the other side. Frustrating. Also the layout is such that everyone hits into everyone else, I almost got hit 5 times in one round with balls landing right by me- and NOONE has the curteousy to yell FORE! I wont be back.
Monster
Course in good challening shape. Staff were terrific!
greens
greens were being aerated half @ a time well done lots of break outing in front of me very slow had 2 skip 7 holes fine after that
This is a nice coarse for the price.
The course is pretty well-maintained, but greens are pretty beat up. The pace was good without having any rangers that I saw. Over all not to bad, ill be back.
Needs better management
You usually get what you pay for, but in this case you get even less...hope that explains all.
Where verbal and physical abuse to patrons is tolerated!
Let me start by saying that I have been playing here for 4+ years almost on a weekly basis; I don't mind the course and the staff, but the management of the course is atrocious. There were multiple incident where our group of 8 at various times felt unwelcomed, but due gave it the benefit of doubt, until this weekend. Mgmt stood silent when a drunken golfer went into a verbal tirade (extreme foul language and racial slurs) and started shoving one of my friends - all in the clubhouse in front of the manager and his staff! The manager did not try to diffuse the situation and did not call the cops even after we requested him to as the assault happened on his property. I for one have decided to boycott this course due to the inept nature of the management and their unwillingness to act when their patrons was being assaulted and verbally abused, all while on their property. I cannot change who they allow to play there or the attitude of the management, but can only boycott this and let others know of my experience.

the course was not busy as it is in need of repair but very wide open and never a flat putt. The cart paths need repaving and sometimes the directions
The course is old and the clubhouse is nothing fancy but works for a good golf experience if you are new to the game.
Brae Burn
Good course. Friendly staff. Rough grasses could be cut shorter. Lost a few ball when I knew exactly where they landed.
I like the hills
having played on a lot of flat courses the hills made it a challenging round and a lot of fun. The course was very busy and was well maintained considering all the rain we've had lately
Great Value
The course was in good shape. The greens were challenging and kept well. Good course for $20.
