Atikwa Review
The pace of play, price and staff were awesome!
No beer cart or turn burger/dog was missed.
The worst part is a definite miscalculation on the crossing hazard yardage on #6 (off by around 25 yds from the back tees) and the back tee yardage on the par 3 #7 (nowhere near 137!!). That played all of 150+.
Good fun for a good price
Beautiful course, decent cuts, well manicured greens, lots of fun and sloping holes. Some links and some wooded. Only thing lacking would be amenities and carts are old and in need of replacement.
Arrowwood Resort
The fairways and rough were in good shape. The putting speed was very slow. Bunkers were unkempt and overgrown. Had the misfortune of teeing off behind a 9 hole scramble, so front nine took 3 hours. When we made the turn, starter was sending groups off the back , so we had to wait to teeoff on the 10th. There was also no drinkng water on the course or beverage cart service. Made for a long hot day.
Nicer courses around the Twin cities for a lot less money
Ridiculous Layout
The layout was ridiculous. 240+ yard carries off the WHITE tees. I’m 60 years old with an 11 handicap. I haven’t sniffed hitting a drive with 240 yards of carry in 20 years. Also fairway with a row of trees across it? This course is so tricked up they should put up clown faces and windmills.
On top of that there were two groups of 8, that’s right eightsomes in front of me playing some kind of tournament. The next group was 4 holes clear of them and they would not let me play through. Unfortunately there was no Marshal to deal with the situation.
Even with an incredible GolfNow deal I felt completely ripped off. What a waste of time.
Take the extra 30 minutes and drive down the road to GreyStone golf club in Sauk Center. An incredible course where weekdays you can play 18 for $25, cart included.
Lake life
When you are up in Alexandria visiting the lake Take time out to golf Atikwa. It’s a beautiful course.
Scenic but overpriced
Played it with a deal on GolfNow. Would have been highly disappointed had I paid the full 60 bucks for a course in such condition: crab grass on multiple tee boxes, bunkers gone to waste, slow greens. Course has awesome views and the layout is fun. With a little more attention to detail and some regularly rolling of the greens, this course could be one of the best in the area.
Enjoyable Morning
I played nine holes at the Arrowwood course on a Saturday morning. Because I had signed up as a single golfer, the staff let me go out by myself on the back nine. This allowed my to play more quickly, and to enjoy and test a course I had not played before.
Nice resort coarse
Very friendly personal people in the club house
Pace of play was great, the 2 som played in less than 4 hours starting at 11:00 am on a Saturday
Coarse was in nice shape
Greens a little slower than normal
A few blind shots off the tee box with 150 yard must carry
