Atikwa review
Enjoyed our round on a nice fall day. Greens were great. Will go back again.
So so
The play was pretty slow, but enjoyable. I found the greens to be slow. Fairways are in good shape.
Great Course...I've had better service.
This was my 5th time playing the course this year. I enjoy it and it is a good value for the money. The guy that checked us in was not friendly at all. He treated us like we were just some guys off the street and was not kind when I told him the deal we got online. Was not happy with him or his attitude, but we had a great time. It rained on the 8th hole and we finished 9, and then the guy (different from guy before) gave us a rain check for the other 9 we didn't get to play. All in all, it was a great deal at a great course. I just wish the staff would have been friendlier.

Great MN Course
It was a perfect summer MN day to golf at Atikwa Golf Course in Alexandria, MN! The course is in great shape with all the rain we have had and those green shots stayed near where they landed!

Not Resort Quality
Disappointing for "resort" course. Upkeep a little ragged overall. Greens slow. Restroom on course dirty. Way too many blind shots. Bunkers gravel not sand. Layout confusing.
Great course
Fun course with some challenging layouts for the more experienced golfer. Greens and fairways were in excellent shape
Doesn't Get Enough Credit
Atikwa is a fine golf course. They don't get the credit they deserve as golf courses go in the Alexandria Lakes area. There are plenty of fine courses around so they probably get a little put on the back burner. The holes are fun, plenty challenging, with a combination of tough holes and risk/reward holes. Would be nice to have a beverage cart on the course on those hot summer days. Every vacation I go to a resort in Alex and every year Atikwa is a must play!
Course playability
Course was too penal....rolling, canted fairways such that balls hit into the middle of the fairway run to the edge and disappear into long, unruly grass. 3-4 long carries over a no man's land. Just too demanding...
Great course
Everything so green, must have had lots of rain. We had a wonderful time. Started us off the back so we followed no one. Didn't golf great but still had good time.
Fun course
My family rents a lakeside cabin every year in Villard for a week. I get to play twice during that week. I usually have played at other area courses but remembered about Atikwa for this trip. This course was really fun and excellent. My only complaints are the greens are super slow. I was murdering putts and they still would not make it to the hole. Also, the only bunker I was in was rock hard and could use some love from maintenance. The layout was fun with a couple quirky holes and some crazy forced carries on 6,7,15 and 16. The one on 16 is just brutal from the tips.
A fun course to think your way around. I would say it's one of the two best layouts in the area with Pezhekee.
Not what i expected
Greens were extremely slow, some with multiple levels. Not a close accessible range to hit at before play and irons only on range, come really early if you want to use range as you will have to leave in your car to get to it. No putting green. Not a walking course, lots of distance and bridges through wetland areas between holes. Greens small. Only yardage markers are stakes. Fairly wide open on a lot of tee shots except holes where you need to lay up and must know yardage to trouble or through fairway before you hit, bring range finder. Last two holes odd, short driveable par 4's. Last hole you must hit over tree and a bunker on each side of tree- all in fairway. No mow areas filled with thistles, leave ball in there and save legs, take the penalty stroke. Some good golf holes, i would play again at discount rate, but not full summer rate.
Layout was good
Nice course, I would play there again.
Love the course
It is challenging, beautiful and if you like nature you will agree with me. The staff was very friendly and tried hard to make the round pleasant.
Tricky and challenging
Great large greens, although fuzzy the week of spring opening. Greens wintered perfectly. Wide sloping fairways. Several wetland challenges to get around. Hilly, but walkable. They should invest in electric golf carts to replace old gas ones. Great connecting Arrow Wood Resort is perfect for an indoor or patio meal afterward, or just relax on the course's deck and enjoy a drink with beautiful views of the course and adjoining lakes.
