Beautiful Course in the Woods
This is a great Jack Nicholas course. There were some risk rewards holes and as always Nicholas gives you a bailout area around the greens. This course is layout into the woods so no houses or other buildings. The course was wet from recent rains so not much roll out. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was paired with two members which is always helpful. These two men were friendly and helpful with course knowledge. I would definitely play here again.
Dud
While having a nice pretty clubhouse, and friendly staff, the grand bear was nothing special and in fact the greens were choppy, and very slow. Located in the sticks, the course overall offered an average to below average challenge but what was really a let down were the greens. So Jack designed the course...yank yank. For the price I expected much more. You dont have to worry about pace of play because nobody was there, literally. That's because they charge entirely too much. Shadowridge in hattiesburg,ms blows this course away. I'll not ever make the trip again.
Hidden Gem
Excellent course. Great layout and the staff is the best. Food in clubhouse needs a little work but it did not take away from the beauty of this place.
Excellent Course
The staff was friendly and the course was in excellent condition. The greens were fast and rolled true. The pace of play was great. Range balls were included with the green fees as well as two bottles of water on ice in the cart cooler. I definitely recommend this course, you won't be disappointed.
Best Value Course on the MS Gulf Coast
This Course never fails, luckily I live only about 10 minutes away from this course so I'm a little spoiled but I love this place. It never fails to challenge you and the different pin placements are all pretty tough. If you are looking for a challenge and really nice course this is it. Just a little tip for this course - Stay on the Fairway because the rough is thick and will hurt you.
Beautiful course but stays wet
I feel like the superintendent does not care for bookings through Golf Now. He suspended play for a severe thunderstorm which everyone on the course complied with. When I asked about a raincheck for the remainder of the round he was short and told me to work it out with Golf Now. The course was wet before the thunderstorms hit. He reopened the course with rivers in the fairway, I believe to avoid refunds. Even with the Hot Deal, the green fee's are higher than most courses in the area. The three rounds I have played there in the last year have all been cart path only and extremely soggy. In my opinion Windance and Diamondhead are much better options and you don't need a hot deal to afford to play there.
Best course I played in the area.
Great staff. Greens are a little firm and couldn't create any spin, Roll great and true. Front nine has great risk reward tee shots. Not everyone is a 300yd driver like they think they are so pick your tee box according to you ACTUAL driving distance.
Pleasant surprise
Very pleasant drive to course from 6 miles out. Course conditions were very nice. The greens had been punched and top dressed within the previous 2 weeks. So they were slower and a little bit bouncy. But that is a timing issue on my part. For the area- we felt the condition and the Golfnow hot deal made it an excellent deal.
Bear
Friendly service great layout multiple tees for all handicaps. Gators on #14
Awesome!!!
Friendly staff, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Must play course if you are in the area. Will be back next year.
Great course....great architect!
You can see all of the "Jack" influence in this course.....don't miss this one if you're in the area.
grand bear, saucier, ms
1st time playing this course; I was told it was built inside of a national foresee in saucier, ms; It is out in the middle of nowhere, but it is a beautiful course; very green for this time of year, compared to my Memphis area;
Course was somewhat challenging, although I played from the senior tees; fairways were nice and greens were very nice although a bit slow; would definitely play here again if back in the area; would definitely recommend
