Greens in great shape
Oak Valley is an entertaining and really fun course to play. Lots of rolling terrain with uphill and downhill shots made it challenging to get the proper “adjusted” distance.
Let me state that most of the greens were in amazing shape, especially for the time of the year, and rolled great. Plus, they are huge so you can end up with some long putts. However, a few of them had some splotchy patches as well as a little crabgrass poking through. Hardly any unrepaired ball marks, though so kudos to everyone for that!
On the downside… The fairways were below average and were thin. If it was summer, I would hope they would be better. We didn’t hit into many bunkers but the ones we did weren’t very good and were too wet. Also, the cart paths need serious work on them as they were either broken down pavement or just rock and gravel.
The pace of play was pretty good and we were only held up a few times. The guy checking us in was quite friendly and helpful.
Oak Valley
This is a challenging course. Ravines , water , hills, playing up hill one hole and down the next. It gives you fair play with the width of the fairways and the greens are all large, but it will force you to play your best shot. Would highly recommend to anyone if you want to be challenged this course is ready for you. I really enjoy playing Oak Valley, They did have a couple holes where the fairways needed some work but overall course was in good shape.
Angry Course Marshal
Course is ok. However some on the staff are hateful. Especially the creepy old guy marshal. Kept following everyone around and yelling at them about they need the carts by sundown. It was an hour before Sundown. Kind of makes it hard to enjoy golf when this cranky old man is lurking around you constantly. There was another cranky old dude in pro shop previously that acted the same way. Maybe same guy. Not sure. If they hate their job or golfers in general maybe they should find another job.
needs some work but plenty of potential
Course needs some work overall but still nice and a pretty location with great natural hills. Lots of abandoned structures around the course that are kind of weird. The cart paths are abysmal and a safety hazard at best.
Pace of play was horrible. They let foursomes on the course that were late and it was more waiting than playing.. super rude and annoying.
Overall I am hoping the new ownership can continue to improve this course that was neglected for years and bring it back.
Oak valley
As per usual Oak Valley over books it's tee times.
It took 2 hours & 45 minutes to play the front 9. And because of the length of time we had to leave without finishing all 18 holes.
I even asked when I first checked in and the man working there said everything was moving along at a good pace. If that is what they call a good pace they should discontinue working at a golf course.
No Marshall to regulate slow groups.
Crab grass on every green causes your ball to change direction.
We got a hot deal on golf now for $46. A golfer. And that's still to high for the conditions. I'm not sure i would pay $35. The Fairways are terrible, the greens have crab grass and the pace of play is the worst in the state of Missouri & Illinois.
0 stars probably a true rating
Want money back
Course in horrible shape and only got to play 9 of 18 holes because of pace of play. Waited 10 min on every shot
Oak Valley
This course has a scorable front 9 with an unforgiving back 9. It’s come a long way as far as conditions; nothings immaculate however it’s still ideal for a scenic round. 7/10 overall
Good round! Bad paths!
Nice course but the cart paths are horrible. We could use some rain but most of the greens were fine as were the fairways but a few were browning our in areas. We enjoyed the day
Average Course For Too Much Money
This course cost about $52, the fairways are hard, a lot of dirt patches all over, and cart path is terrible. Definitely other courses out there that are cheaper and better
Oak valley
Nice course for the price. A few fairways had some work being done., otherwise course was in decent shape. Greens were consistent , course plays fair . It is somewhat hilly, which I did not mind. Will definitely play there again and would recommend to anyone (especially for the GolfNow hot deal price).
Always a great course
Greens always in good shape. Get a great warm up with an open and forgiving front nine before proceeding to a more challenging back 9. Brand new golf carts, bathrooms and water coolers around the holes are perfectly spaced out. Pace of play has always been good. Cart paths are a bit bumpy in spots, whatever. Legit 5$ burger to get on the turn as well. Staff is always super friendly. All the negative reviews on here sound like people think they should be playing at some mystical grassland course for 45$
Enjoyable
Very enjoyable, some of the greens needed some work but overall it was really nice! I will definitely be back!
