Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Great Value
Great Gorge is definitely a diamond in the rough type of course in northern NJ. The value based on what you pay per round and the course conditions are one of the best in the state. The 3 9-hole courses all have challenging , forgiving, and holes that you would love to play over and over again. I will definitely be back to play in the near future.
Horrible experience - course nice, staff and policies horrendous
Staff kept us off the course after a thunderstorm cell rolled through. Thunderstorm was done and gone through the area, and sunny skies were out. They made us wait about 75 minutes after the sun came out before they allowed us to get back on the course. It was 5:30 at the time the storm came through and was gone by 6pm. The staff just wanted to go home and not let anybody back out on the course. Pretty unreal. Lack of common sense applied. Won’t be back which is a shame because it’s a nice course. The photos show the time after the storm when we still weren’t allowed back out. I understand safety, but this was stupidity.
One of my favorite courses. Love to play mountain courses.
Haven’t played this in many years.Visited recently and will absolutely trickier than I remember come back. Played on 3 1/2 hours as 2 and never waited. Greens trickier than I remembered
Awesome
Haven’t played here in years. Cart paths a little beat up, but course layout, condition is terrific. Must play for $45!
Outstanding greens!
You can tell that this resort was special back in the day, and I was pleased to see the course being very well maintained. The bent grass greens were absolutely perfect, maybe rolling on the 11s on the stimpmeter. Fairways we also in terrific conditions. Friendly staff and worth the drive. Don’t let the abandoned resort facilities deceive you and try this fantastic layout for yourself.
Great Course
First time I played there. I played the Rail Course to the Quarry Course, a little confusing to go from the 1st hole to the 2nd, could use better signage, but other than that I will go back.
Great to be back
I don’t think I’ve played here in 10 or 12 years don’t know why . I think it may have been closed for a while but can’t wait to get back.Three nines great holes beautiful views can’t say enough about it so I will not . Maybe a Hidden gem are maybe I just forgot.
Very Friendly staff . . Course was in great shape. Greens were hard and rolled well. Great pace of play. Finished 18 holes in 2:45 with zero waiting.
