Don't go During the Offseason
If you want quality don't go during the offseason. If you just want a quick 18 after a work conference then yeah I recommend it. The course was really easy with open fairways and really basic par 3s. You got one over water but the rest are little bloops. Driving range was well kept and nice. Staff was awesome and very approachable. They were still in recovery from the flooding so the back nine was cart path only which was understandable. My biggest issue with the course were the horses and elk. Don't get me wrong I love seeing a little wildlife but they definitely take a toll on the course. Lots of animal scat on the fairways and footprints on the greens. Actually kept one of my drives from rolling into the rough lol. I don't think there's much they can really do about it (it's Ruidoso there's A LOT of animals) so give them the benefit of the doubt. I wasn't able to tee off on 14 because I had a herd of about 40 elk in the way. Overall not a bad course. I can tell that when the season starts the course will be in much better condition. Finished really quick so it's a great solo course if you're looking for an early morning or afternoon round. My tee time was at 2pm and I finished at 4:30pm. Granted I had no one in front of me and I was riding solo. Overall nice experience. I would definitely go back.
Links
I loved this course. Amazing lay out. Challenging holes, but forgiving because of the links style. Won't lose as many balls. Some greens have wildlife damage, but they are still great greens for the price. They roll well. Saw horses and elk on the course so that was pretty cool too.
Great Views
Very enjoyable golf course. Challenging but very manageable
The course was good considering all of the flooding. I have played the course every year when I come to Ruidoso
Play interrupted by rain storm.
This is a prime golf course. I have played it more than a dozen times. Not cheap. So getting a bargain through golf now is recommended.
Overall it was a nice course. Friendly staff and pace of play was excellent. Only thing was holes 5 and 6 that were under weather related repairs. But besides that would definitely play there again when visiting. Great experience. Two thumbs up
Great Course in the Pines
Great course, friendly staff, good prices, and all around fun experience. The flooding did cause some damage, but it’s slight and doesn’t affect the play almost at all. The staff did a really good job working around it.
