The MCM Elegante Lodge and Resort in Ruidoso is adjacent to the Links at Sierra Blanca and the one million acres of the Lincoln National Forest. With 64 suites and 54 rooms spread across three floors, the 75,000-square-foot hotel offers free hot breakfast, private balconies, in-room fireplaces, full kitchens or kitchenettes, two-person whirlpool tubs, Bath & Body amenities, a saltwater indoor swimming pool, open air patios and outside guest grills and a firepit. The adjacent White Mountain Recreation Complex sports two tennis courts, two pickleball courts, four basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a 2.9-mile track for walking, running or cycling and multipurpose fields for baseball, flag football and soccer. Pray for rain!
This may have been a good course long ago, but it clearly is in need of a lot of water (and grass) and some TLC. The greens are fantastic (about one inch thick soft grass that holds the shots and allows easy ball mark repair). The fairways are hard and nothing but dirt in some places, and your ball takes 90 degree bounces at times. The "mounds" that line the fairways and surround the greens add nothing to the course, and you need a shovel to hit your shot if you land on one of these. The course is worth a $25 green fee and not a penny more.
Nice course
Nice course in Ruidoso. Enjoyed a foursome with Lloyd & Pat from San Antonio. The greens are a little bumpy & spotted with what looked like fertilizer, but an enjoyable time overall with a very friendly staff.

Nice municipal course
Got a great deal on Golf Now (50% less than the rack rate) which made the course a good value for the money. The fairways were spotty; some were nice and green others had dirt patches. Sand traps were not very sandy (mostly soft dirt/sand), however playable as is the norm with courses I've played in TX and NM. Greens were decent, they were green and rolled true (front greens were harder to hold versus the back greens). The front and back nines differ greatly; front is wide open links style, back had some elevation, trees, and was narrow. I scored better on the back as the greens were a bit softer and I could hold them better than the front greens which get constant sunlight and were a bit harder. I finished with an 81 which is within my normal range (78 to 84). Overall it was a fun course that was not crowded at all. We finished our round in 3 hours and only had to played through one group. Considering the layout, greens, and pace of play (we played on a weekend) I found the course to be a good value, relaxing and enjoyable.

The course is in good shape and fun to play. Several picturesque and challenging holes make it a great value for the money paid.
Nice Mountain Course
We happen to play on one nasty day, cold and windy, tested our abilities. We found the course to be moderate in course difficulty, but one nice well planned and well designated avenue to follow. Nice bathrooms spread throughout and on a cold windy day, that was a real asset.
Had we been able to have gotten one more day of GolfNow offer, we would have played one more day, while in the area.
Nice course for using a cart and most likely a very nice course to play when the weather is nice.
