Super Fun Mountain Course
Lots of fun and Cloudcroft is a great place to be! The Lodge is a beautiful hotel, too.
Beautiful Day for golf and Elk!
Cloudcroft is beautiful in itself, but take a small winding road up the mountain just a bit and you will land on the golfing oasis. You tee off on top of the glorious mountain and play your way down. The course is surrounded by trees and wildlife that could care less if you’re trying to make a par 3, they are having a snack or their afternoon nap! ❤️ The poor greens could use 2 weeks of non play and some TLC but none the less the course remains my favorite of all time! Friendly staff and the opportunity to get paired and play with new friends made the day that much better. Highly recommend you play this course at least one time. And then you will definitely be back for another 9 or 18 holes.
Finally Got To Play The Lodge Course!
Playing the Lodge Golf Course in Cloudcroft, NM has been on my bucket list since I started playing years ago. I was not disappointed!! Loved every minute of it. The history, the unique layout, the challenging up and downs, and beautiful beyond compare. This is a must play course!
Great potential!
Course was in reasonable condition although several greens required that I invoke my "two putt" rule; the second putt is always good. Those greens were essentially impossible to putt or chip. You are at the mercy of whatever clump of dirt or grass your ball hit as it landed on the green or rolled on the green. I still managed two birdies and should have had three. I missed a two footer for birdie on number 14. I birdied 10 and 18, both putts about two feet.
The esthetics were beautiful. Wonderful sunny day, partly cloudy skies, great temperature and a fast pace of play. I played in two hours and I waited on a few holes.
I love number 5/14; the drive is slightly uphill to a "cliff" from where it is straight downhill to the green. If you carry the fairway past the edge you will likely have about 30 or 40 yards to the green if you don't roll into the bunker that protects the front of the green. This is the hole where I missed a 2-footer for birdie.
I had never played The Lodge but have heard much about it so I decided to drive from Las Cruces and play. Enjoyed the course and recommend it but be prepared to just have a fun round of golf.
Greens were in rough shape
Played this course 2 years and it was in grat shape. This time it was a bit rough. Not sure if it was something to do with early in the year but breens seemed to have a fungus that you had to put through craters. You may want to call them before you play to check on the greens. One time was awesome. The next tume it was rough. When in good shape it is a bladt. Set in the mountain valley with wildlife eveywhere.
The concessions are very poor quality and there is not enough staff available for drinks and bar area. The greens are absolutely terrible and seems to be very little concern. The price to play a round is entirely too high being the greens are in that type of shape. Having to stay on the cart path the entire round seems ridiculous for dry grounds. Course layout was nice and scenery was beautiful.
Beautiful scenery
The scenery is amazing but the course conditions were rough. Greens in very poor condition which is somewhat to be expected this time of year. I think the rates are quite high for a 9 hole course especially considering the conditions. I can play an excellent course in DFW for the same amount or lower. We own a place in Cloudcroft and I enjoy coming to this course but it is more about the scenery and getting to play the elevation changes.
scott
horrible greens
they carged me another 25 bucks for a cart i understood it to be all inclusive he also tried ti charge me again for the course fee .i think they are under new ownership
Not worth what they charge.
We were excited to play this course in the mountains.
At $125 for two people for 18, we expected it to be a good short course.
Wrong. Not kept up well. Fairways are a cow pasture full of dandelions. The greens are worse. Very little grass. A lot of sand. You couldnt "putt" if youre life depended on it.
To be fair, there were 2 greens that had a legitimate putting surface on half the green.
Cute concept. Very under maintenanced. You cannot charge $60 for 18 holes and provide that kind of a track. I have played local municipal courses at the same level for $26-32 for 18. You know what you are getting. This was crazy over priced. If it had been $35 for 18 I would have said "you get what you pay for". In this case it is a D+ at best. Horrible value for money. Cute concept. Poor execution. Sorry.
To be
Great layout
Course was amazing, a but chilly early morning. Elk a d deer on two different holes. Number 5 is a completely blind shot possibly able to reach the green. Cart path only the entire course, greens are a bit rough. They are definitely coming around. Very fun layout. 6 par threes 4 reachable par 4s . Have a drink at the lodge hotel right after Thursdays is half off drinks.
Beautiful mountain course
This course is challenging due to being on a mountain. Wildlife is abundant. Great time every time we play here.
Great Course — Fun to Play
I always play this course when in Cloudcroft. It’s challenging and one of the most beautiful courses out there. It is in excellent shape! Played well and look forward to being back soon.
