The Lodge Golf Course

We play the course every year. Yes it’s 9 holes with different tees and flags for the second nine. Yes it’s hard to keep perfect greens with ice, snow, and elk hooves. But the crisp mountain air, beautiful soaring pines, and lurking deer/elk make this a favorite of ours, hands down.

I have played this course before, and it is very nice.

I love playing here. The atmosphere, the people, and the course are all outstanding . I will play there anytime over Rainmaker, The Links or the Inn of the Mountain Gods just for those things. I live in Ruidoso and have no problem driving the 50 miles to play at the Lodge. One gripe is that Management is a little too lax in certain areas, one being allowing people to bring their dogs on the course. We played behind a couple that spent as much time chasing their dog as they did hitting the golf ball. The last straw was when the dog took a dump on a green and the couple didn’t even bother to pick it up. What is normallly a 3 hour round turned into a 4 hour round.

This course is always fun to play. There is always an abundance of wildlife. The fairways are in good condition. My only complaint is that the greens are not cut tight. They are a little fuzzy and it’s hard to putt and really know which way it’s going to roll.

we have been playing at the Lodge since 1998. This is the best condition I have ever seen the course especially the greens. We are here for a week and had planned to play the Lodge for a tuneup and then play at the Inn of the mountain Gods in Ruidoso. But for the money, the course conditions and the friendliness of the staff and other players we encountered, you can’t beat the Lodge. We elected to play here all three days of our stay here in NM.

This 9 hole course is very nice and fun. Lots of wildlife is on this course. You will have to work around them at times. The staff is great and the pace play is good. If you are looking for a nice mountain course, this is a good one.

I am an experienced golfer of 40 years, brought my girl who is just learning to golf. We had the best time here and the course was amazing and in great shape. The starter Stan and Pamela were amazing as well. They are the nicest folks and down to earth, we will certainly be back.

If anyone plays this course they will be hooked. And the wildlife on the course was also super cool roaming the course..

Beautiful view as always! Trees! Trees! Trees! The only wish is the Elk wouldn’t eat so much of the greens. They are already in better shape than last year when we played, but those sweet elk think it’s a winter snack leaving the greens a little more to be desired. But we would still play here for the friendly staff, beautiful scenery and just overall challenge of the course.

The Lodge Golf Course is a great golfing experience. We love to play it at least twice a year. Our home is about five hours away from Cloudcroft and the highlight of our visit there is playing the Lodge. The course is in great shape, especially given the dry conditions. It was a pleasure speaking with course employees. Greens keeper was friendly and accommodating out on the course.

Weather was gorgeous, Pace of play was great. Greens are lousy but they are in better shape than they have been for some time -but very bumpy. But the heavenly atmosphere/location always makes up for the greens. :-)

I made tee time because my local course was closed on Monday. Arrived and told guy at desk my wife was going to ride in the cart with me. They charge $25 for a rider fee, that's crazy. Course is dry and not good condition right now.

Lots of fun and Cloudcroft is a great place to be! The Lodge is a beautiful hotel, too.

Cloudcroft is beautiful in itself, but take a small winding road up the mountain just a bit and you will land on the golfing oasis. You tee off on top of the glorious mountain and play your way down. The course is surrounded by trees and wildlife that could care less if you’re trying to make a par 3, they are having a snack or their afternoon nap! ❤️ The poor greens could use 2 weeks of non play and some TLC but none the less the course remains my favorite of all time! Friendly staff and the opportunity to get paired and play with new friends made the day that much better. Highly recommend you play this course at least one time. And then you will definitely be back for another 9 or 18 holes.
