Escape from baseball
After visiting cooperstown a few times through the years i never had my clubs with me but this week when my son was playing at all-star village for the week i knew i had another opportunity to play Leatherstocking. It did not disappoint! Found a great last minute deal on GolfNow for $104 but I fully intended to pay the $150 greens fee and it still would have been worth it. Course is beatiful and after a week of heavy rain you never wouldve known that course got a drop of rain. The mountains and lake make for a beautiful backdrop and the holes are challenging but fair. Greens are well maintained and can make you crazy with the slopes and speeds. Lot of shots you are hitting above and below your feet due to the hilly conditions. Pace of play was spot on to 4 hours and that was a busy sunday morning too. I would expect that course to see many capable golfer withbthe cost being what it is. After years of wanting to play Leatherstocking it was worth the wait
Spectacular scenery
This is a challenging course with spectacular scenery. Great value for the money, especially mid to late afternoon.
Finishing hole is the BEST!
Great course all around. Some trees. Some more water than trees and on the side of a mountain! Awesome design. Staff was great. All willing to help and give some valuable tips.
Greens were also challenging changing elevations and directions. Can't wait to get back!
One of a kind
The layout, condition- lush grass and well defined fairways. Greens were perfect. The scenery incredible! Great finishing holes! You’ll love the 18th!
Great staff from starter to pro shop to cart/club attendants . Can’t wait to play again!
Get Out To Leatherstocking!
This course is absolutely fantastic, and definitely worth the trip out to Cooperstown, NY. The price is not cheap at $150.00 peak rate, but there are some good deals for twilight ($110) and off peak season ($79).
This course really has something for everyone, extremely beautiful views, and very interesting golf course architecture.
The finishing stretch of 16-18 is not for the faint of heart, but overall the course is fun and interesting.
Cooperstown experience
The baseball hall of fame was the reason we were there. The 3 best things in Cooperstown are the baseball hall of fame, Ommegang brewery and this golf course. Beautiful setting and the course was wet but in great shape. It’s part of the experience and well worth it. The staff was great and we will go back again.
Above average course
Pro shop check in was easy although the day I was there parking was a major issue. Literally no spaces and I had to park on the street with my passenger side wheels on the sidewalk...but no curb. Course layout and views were exceptional in places. Greens were not completely grown in yet.
Golfnow early season deal was the only reason I could afford this place. For those well-off financially the full season rate of $150 would be ok because of the beauty of the course. I would probably drive the 1 and a half hours to the course once a year if I get the same or similar deal.
Favorite Course in NT State
This is my favorite course in NYS and one of if not Devereux Emmets best with only maybe Huntington Cc or Copake Lake being better. These are some of the quickest and coolest greens you can play by Emmet.
The finishing 18th hole is one of the best around. I would add this course to any trip to the baseball HOF!
Awesome Fall Golf
This course never falls short of a great golf day…good score or bad….we had an amazing day of golf at a very reasonable price for a wonderful course…the views and course layout are spectacular an d the surrounding area of Cooperstown is worth the trip. I started my morning with a 4 mile hike at Glimmerglass State Park and a walk around the village, which includes the Baseball Hall of Fame, quaint shops/restaurants/distillery/etc., Doubleday Field, and more. A 1.5 hourish drive from the Syracuse area on a pretty day. Take the time and make a day of it!😊
Another great day
Resort course, and when you're lucky enough to catch a deal, book it. Played at least 3 times this season there. Always in great shape.
New York Golf at it's best
Leatherstocking is a New York treasure. The beauty, challenge, layout, amenities, you'll be hard pressed to find a better golf experience.. I played with my wife who's not a strong golfer and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
You can't strike out with this course
Located in the city with the "Baseball Hall of Fame", this course continues to give you nine innings of great golf. Extra innings will take you to the back nine and more great golf.
Beautiful resort course
Have played here many times. Course always in great shape.
A gem in Cooperstown
It had been 40 years since I last played the course. I had forgotten how small and challenging the greens are. It is a superb older layout that definitely requires you to golf your ball. There are great views as well. I was so glad I got the opportunity to play the course again.
