Monster
The golf course was in perfect condition Fairways, greens, tea boxes 10 out of 10 the staff friendliness was the best I've ever seen! High price.
Great Track
The people were friendly, conditions were perfect, greens were tough but fair. I loved that there was multiple tee boxes. Definitely going to play it again!
Great golf experience
Having played Bay Hill, Pinehurst, and Hilton Head I'd say I'm fairly qualified in judging a quality golf venue
The staff at The Monster could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Everyone from the folks who checked us in to the gentleman working the mowers were politely on-point.
The course is tough, but fair, with substantial risk/reward gains. Accuracy being key. You don't have to be a long hitter to score here. But you do have to stay in the fairway.. the greens can fool you but show me a PGA level course where that isn't so. I am not a gambler per say, but I would consider this a definite golf vacation destination. For those on a tighter budget keep an eye out for Golf Now deals. That's what I did and it was well worth it.
GPS on the carts was not working properly, could not get distances while playing and our golf watches didn't work on the course either
Course is over priced.
Course is way over priced and not that nice for what you pay.
Communication
I bought the tee time from golf now for 18 holes for 4:15pm
At the pro shop no one said at 4:15 it’s only 9 holes
The starter and the person helping me with my clubs said at 4:15 your only allowed 9 holes but no one said that until now
Other wise it was a perfect experience.
Some BIG negatives, but a fun track
The good - nice layout, greens excellent condition, good speed. Fairways mostly nice (except for the many divots that aren't repaired), there's GRASS under your ball, much appreciated. The rough is noticeably higher (as it should be) but not ridiculously penal unless you're WAY off line. The course is long from the V and M tees but not crazy narrow so there's decent size landing areas, no issues, good design. Great pace of play because the course was empty... that's due to price, which is quite extravagant for the area, for a casino course and for a course of this design. There's nothing really noteworthy about the course layout, no signature hole, nothing outstanding that a high daily fee course should have.
The bad..... no sand bucket or bottles in the cart, and as a result there's TONS of divots all over the course that haven't been repaired. Nobody replacing divots as they play... no staff filling divots at night... that's what high end courses do. I did notice divots on par 3 tee boxes filled with sand/seed mix... what about the rest of the course ?????
Pace of play good ONLY because the course is empty due to the price. This isn't a high dollar area of NY, nobody has these funds to play a course that is MORE THAN DOUBLE the cost of nearby ones. Yes, it's a casino, and they're targeting gamblers and resort guests.... but the course isn't worth $170. On a nice weather Monday in early July there were about 5 groups scheduled from opening until noon. You'd make a lot more money charging $125 and filling all tee times....
More awful stuff. No check in or payment at the course clubhouse. WHAT ???? I drive to the course, there's a small clubhouse, there's a club drop area, there's golf carts and course personnel helping with the bags and carts.. BUT NO, you can't pay here.... you need to take the shuttle bus back to the Hotel, half mile back on the road, go in THERE to pay, then take the shuttle back. Total waste of time. But wait, theres more. Once you get there THEY DON'T ACCEPT CASH !!!! A casino course, people have thousands of dollars in hundreds, fifties and twenties in their pocket or wallet NOPE Card only. Terrible policy. Cash is king, cash should be accepted everywhere for everything. Ridiculous.
Also silly.... when you're driving the golf cart sometimes it stops and beeps "restricted area... go backwards" when you're 20 or 30 yards from the arrow markers that warn you to turn right or left... and those are sometimes dozens of yards shy of the greens. This can be improved for the golfer experience.
In summary... nice course, fun to play, challenging but not tricked up and crazy, but room for improvement in some facets of the experience.
Good value with a deal
If you can grab the deal on golf now it’s a great special day out on the course. Just remember to check in at the Adler Hotel. That’s where the pro shop is, about a mile from the actual course. I drove back and forth and unfortunately no one was very helpful; however, that being said, it was a wonderful day once the golf started. The starter is a cool character as well.
First time for everything!!
Had chance to play course by myself. I will play course again. It was a beautiful morning with the weather and the staff from the pro shop to the clubhouse, were fantastic!!!!!!
Pro shop
The course itself and the staff at the course and the driving range are excellent, helpful and very knowledgeable
However I found some of the pro shop staff were not helpful and even arrogant
After getting rained out after starting the back 9 we were told that we would not get a rain check because we booked through GOLFNOW
They could have been a little bit less rude
Great course
Terrific course in the Catskills. Friendly, helpful staff. Can’t wait to go back. A little pricey, but worth it.
Greens, fairways and sand were really good
I liked the course setup but in my view of not having food available during the week is not well .
Great course
Very deceiving and toughness of course. Lots of sand traps
The monster
Course is in great shape, sand is best around( not that you want to be in it) Greens roll beautifully and are true. The fall is a great time to play.
