Mount Mitchell Golf Club

About Mount Mitchell Golf Club
The Mount Mitchell Golf Club sits at the base of Mount Mitchell an hour from Asheville and minutes from the famed Blue Ridge Parkway. Despite its mountain setting, the course itself is flat with the South Toe River running through it. This river is ideal for fisherman looking to hook brown and rainbow trout. Golfers can rent two- and three-bedroom townhomes on the 18th fairway, private homes throughout the community and one-, two- and three-bedroom fairway villas on the course. Hawtree's Pub provides food and drinks for all.Facts

Course is making a comeback!
I've been playing Mt. Mitchell for well over 30 years, and it is again one of my favorite courses to play! The superintendent is doing a great job to bring the course back to it's former glory, and that should make everyone who's familiar with the course very excited...
As with any course that is being restored after being neglected, there are some negatives about the course but nothing like the past. The fairways are sparse in some areas, but not as bad as some reviewers say. I found that if you kept it in the fairway you had a good lie. There are some hard pan lies, but we have experienced drought and hot conditions. The greens were almost immaculate, but rolled a little slow due to being watered because of the heat. There are 2 greens (#6,#10) that have problem areas from the fungus, but they are recovering nicely. The bunkers looked a bit rough, but I didn't have to play from them so I can't attest to their condition.
And they have a great staff, ESPECIALLY Chloe in the pro shop! In my opinion, this charming young lady is the epitome of great customer service! She is the kind of employee I would want on my staff, and a great ambassador for the Mt Mitchell brand. Thanks Chloe, you made my day! I hope management takes notice of my words, for she is a good asset to you...
All in all, this is a course that should be on your list to play, and the sheer beauty of Mt. Mitchell and the surrounding mountains cannot be beat, even by that place called Sequoyah near Cherokee...Thank you to the management, and especially the superintendent, for restoring this amazing tract of land. I look forward to seeing you guys soon!
Mountain Course
One of the better public courses in the Blue Ridge Mountians
A one time gem..
My son and i played saturday.. I was reading the reviews as we were heading over and i was getting disappointed the more i read.. I played it 15 years ago and it was one of the best manicured course around. While it wasn’t in the same shape and condition as it was then i don’t think it’s that far off.. the layout is still great for a short course. If they could speed up the green, mow the tee boxes and fairways tighter i wouldn’t have any issue with the course. Those are all simple easy fixes that can take place fairly quick. I’d say the price is a little steep for the current conditions.. Probably more like a $65 course instead of $85 but isn’t everything overpriced these days.. They’re not far off from a great course again..
Great course
First time playing in about 10 years. The course was in decent shape. Greens were good but a little slow. Definitely will be playing it again.
Beautiful Day in the Mountains
I really enjoyed this course. The staff was super nice and helpful and the course is beautifully laid out along the Tow River. Fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Greens were good, a bit bumpy from recent aeration. Bunkers need some sand so avoid them if you can.
The carts are in great shape and have a GPS screen. Great mountain course.
Nice Mountain Course
Nice scenic mountain course in northwest North Carolina. Mountain Views all around. The front nine is relatively flat in good condition. The back nine has terrific scenic views and very challenging but greens recently aerated and not in good shape. Many large punch holes which made putting very difficult. However, I scored better on back nine. Peaceful stream flowing by many holes. Sometimes came into play on some holes. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely play again and do recommend.
Great course-rainy day
Course layout is an awesome tight mountain course. Unfortunately it was very wet when we played. Can't do anything about the weather. Overall course was in great shape and a joy to play
