Gorgeous Mt Course- Little Room For Error
This course was gorgeous. Greens and fairways are well cared for. Staff was friendly and helpful. You best bring your A game on this course. Some holes are tight. Little room for error. Make sure you have plenty of good balls. Great course for $32. Would play again.
Always amazing
Course was in beautiful conditions. Greens were almost completely healed from earlier aeration, so as of today should be pristine. Greens still putters well and entire course was just in beautiful condition. You can never go wrong playing here. Staff is always friendly.
Great course, excellent views
Great course. Been wanting to play it for several years and finally made the trip up. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the most ideal due to some below average temperatures and high winds. But that didn’t take away from the course. Excellent conditions, staff was friendly. Will be going back again hopefully with better weather
What a hidden gem
We found this course by accident, after seeing a newsletter for events in Yadkin Valley. The price for a weekend tee time was unreal ($42), but the reviews of the course were glowing. It was a beautiful course, high in the mountains. Lush green fairways and perfect greens. The course is challenging, with angled and nartow fairways (especially on the back 9), steep climbs to the greens (at times), and small greens. You need to be strategic with how you play, which makes it even more fun. We can't wait to go back.
Prettiest course I’ve played
My favorite course to come to every year. Outstanding views. Very well kept. Very fun holes.
Challenge Awaits
Course is challenging and fun. The views are beautiful and well worth the time to play a round here.
Will be back
It was our first time to Old Beau. We went on the recommendation of a good friend, and it did not disappoint. Really enjoyed the course and looking forward to coming back soon.
Quintessential Mountain course in fantastic shape !
Olde Beau delivers every single time I’ve been up here. Here are the characteristics that I observed about the golf course : Over seeded fairways make for lush green appearance. Well manicure bent greens that rolled decently well.
Friendly and helpful staff at the proshop . Pace of play has never been an issue here. Go out for the golf , prepare to be stunned by breathtaking views!
Thank you for having me :)
Great views, course in good shape. Greens in great shape. A few holes are very narrow.
Fun course in great shape
First time playing Olde Beau and it was worth the drive from Charlotte and price of admission. The course was in great shape - tees were perfect and bent grass greens the best I've putted on in some time (smooth and quick); fairways were full of grass but a bit long in places.
Fun layout with a good variety of holes; par 5's are reachable in two for most, there are some tough par 4's (especially those playing big uphill on the 2nd shot), and a good mix of shorter and longer par 3's. The scenery and mountain views were great. My favorite hole was #2 - a reachable par 5 with a good drive, 2nd shot well framed by trees and over a pond.
Overall, highly recommend Olde Beau!
The best Greens I’ve seen in years!
and interesting course thats sorta hard to review, or at least hard write a bad review of.
First the good…
*maybe the best Greens I’ve seen or played in years! When you experience great Bent Grass Greens you’ll understand why a large percentage of PGA Tour Tourneys are played on Bent Grass and grasses other than Bermuda!
*The staff were Great! Simply amazing how personable people can be when you get away from cities and their over-crowded golf courses.
*Nice quiet atmosphere with outstanding scenery!
The less than great…
*Fairway grass not overly plush, and definitely a major adjustment if you always play on Bermuda! Not sure of the grass type but if will definitely affect those who are not tour level ball strikers! Fairways can also be a bit sparse & firm due to this.
*A good bit of grounds work has been, or is currently being done.. Several cart paths have also been removed due to building lot expansion nd course changes!
*If you are use to GPS in Carts… be warned… your going to be mentally & physically worn-out after 18 holes here. A ton of walking to read distances, and a ton of driving your cart 130 yards beyond your ball to get a visual & a distance to the pins!
*Use caution while driving your cart… the are not speed regulated like many high-end GPS carts…A lot of VERY Steep cart paths here where you can easily reach excessive & unsafe speeds! Plus neither cart we used this weekend has decent brakes! Even when parked & brake-locked be mindful when you park & exit your cart on a hill!
As others have noted.. a lot of nice scenery at Olde Beau and despite the aforementioned negatives it still one of my favorite courses of all time (and i’m talking 50 yrs of golf)
Underwhelming
Fairways were overgrown about 40% of course. Greens were pretty good. Very scenic. Course didn't really live up to expectations.
I misspoke…The Greens here are Bent Grass/Poa Annua mix.
And the Fairways are Bluegrass.
