Golfer Reviews
Great Mountain Course
Course was in good shape. The area had a LOT of rain in the previous days leading up to my round. The staff was great and the course was in really good shape even with it being wet. I will be back to play it again.
Very enjoyable course. Very scenic. Well conditioned course.
It’s a Wonder. Stevie Wonder.
No shortage of blind shots on this layout. Would love to play it again with the knowledge of playing it once. That said it’s much wilder than most layouts. Huge elevation changes. Narrow fairways but forgiving rough at least when I played. Greens were dinged up a bit. Overall high amusement factor if you don’t focus on lost balls or strokes.
First time here but not the last
Round 4 of my 7+ round golf trip and Olde Beau was in my budget for an early Monday round.
I’d heard about this course and decided a ~30 min detour leaving CLT headed to Pete Dye Radford was worth the effort up/down the mountain.
The weather and course conditions were great after playing in rain for the past couple days so no issues there.
My only issue for the day was the basic golf carts with no GPS, coolers, club/ball washers.
A GPS, with the cart to the group ahead cart feature enabled, would help first timers for sure. It wasn’t very crowded today but since no locals would let me jump in with them, I was blind for quite a few holes.
I’ll add it to a play list, but I’d love to see the golfer amenities match the spectacle of the course and mountains that surround it.
If there is golf in heaven , this is the layout
My 6th time this summer. It does not get any better. 1500 feet of elevation, great views, friendly folks, will be back asap
Rates
We were quoted $81 from golf now but charged $102 once we arrived, quite disappointing but after you drive 2 hours to play the course, what option do you have. Tee time was at 1:10PM on Saturday
Beautiful
I was able to get a cheaper tee time from a hot time deal, I will say the pro shop worker seemed less than thrilled that I used that. But me, my dad, my uncle, and my cousin came and played and the course was beautiful. It had been raining cats and dogs but you wouldn’t have noticed here. The scenery, the holes and everything in between was beautiful
Challenging, and beautiful scenery
Overall had a great day. The challenge and scenery. Tee boxes were a little beat up. But work was shown they are working on. Otherwise greens and all other course conditions were excellent.. Cannot beat the views.
Great day
Experienced a great day and great round at Olde Beau. Had a friend visiting from Florida and wanted him to see the course. He loved it as he shot his best round in some time. Conditions were fantastic. Fortunately for us, but maybe not the course, we seemed to be the only ones out there so pace was great yet had time to soak in the scenery. Will definitely be back.
Great layout, with even better views
Olde Beau is a true mountain course , with a lot of elevation changes, great turf conditions and spectacular views. Some tee boxes were a little rough, but not an issue. The greens were all in excellent condition and rolled true.
I look forward to playing this course again, now that I know how to play some of the tee shots.
Precision golf & tons of fun
Grabbed a hot deal yesterday at Olde Beau and had a blast! Tight fairways lead to shot placement being a must, but each hole is a new challenge and breaks up the monotony of flatland courses. Big elevation changes here with small greens that are surprisingly fair to good to hold on approach shots. Will definitely test your second shot skill to stay out of the ravines. Views are amazing and course conditions were great, clubhouse clean and friendly staff made for a fun day (even though I lost 11 balls). Would play here everyday if I could. Reminds me of Balleyhack with tighter corridors.
Olde Beau is amazing
My 5th trip this year. The drive is 75 minutes each way and worth it.
Had my best round yet. 5 three putts, 2 lost balls and gave it 78. Happy day
Mostly Good
Finally able to get back to Olde Beau, it had been 9 months since last round here. This is one of my favorite courses anywhere, not so much for course conditions but simple because it's so quiet here. If I had any complaints it would be about the inconsistencies in the cart path, since several holes simply do not have any. I think some of this is due to a past reconfiguration for new RV home sites, however, they seem to have made no effort to improve these holes afterwards. The carts here are good, but slightly older models. If this helps keep the cost of a round of golf reasonably priced then I have no problem with this. No GPS here either, so your first round here you may spend a bit of extra time having to ride forward to see what's over particular hills in the fairways. Fairway grass is here May cause some higher handicap golfers problems. Not very cushy as it's bluegrass and the soil is a bit firmer than what most golfers are used to. Again, I enjoy this golf course, however, it's going to take most folks at least two rounds here to figure out how to play it properly. Hole #2 is probably my favorite golf hole anywhere, and is also one of the most attractive holes he will ever see..
Awesome course
The course is in great shape. Players are spaced out so that you play at your own pace. The temperature is always a lot cooler that the non-mountain courses.
