About Springdale at Cold Mountain
Springdale at Cold Mountain has been bolstered in 2021 with a new clubhouse, which is the lifeblood of the resort's "Village at Springdale", which is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is home to the Rocky Face Tavern, a welcome center, fitness center and outdoor pool. An old stone patio and outdoor fireplace are gathering spots in summer. Guests can choose from 18 different villas, homes, townhomes and cottages to rent. The 6,865-yard course has also been recently renovated.Facts

Fun and Challenging
The course is in the process of trying to improve water control issues around low lying areas on the course after the serious flooding that occurred from Hurricane Helene. All 18 holes were open and anyone can see the task at hand is a challenging one that will take time. But the clear goal is to make the chances of severe flooding on the course after heavy rain storms to be less likely. With all that said, the course is still in remarkably good condition for what it has been through. The scenery is spectacular, holes will challenge all parts of your game, and the restaurant / tavern is beautiful.
Springdale Recovery from Helene
After Hurricane Helene passed, the course was in good shape with ongoing repairs. Many creek crossings or low areas on the course still undergoing grooming, but crew has done a great job getting the back nine re-opened. Greens firm and fast, but too many players leave divots unrepaired. Fairways healthy, traps and tee boxes in good shape and rough groomed. Pro shop & course staff very friendly. Tavern was surprisingly closed on a Tuesday, so no opinion on off-course amenities.
Back 9 Closed
Due to impacts of Hurricane Helene, the back 9 is closed. That info is not currently disclosed on either GolfNow or TeeOff. The front 9 is in very good condition considering the severity of the hurricane.
VERY SLOW DAY
4h45m round does not make for a fun day. While Springdale is one of my favorite courses in the area, the pace of play was dreadful and not a ranger in site. Granted the “cart paths only” I’m sure was the culprit to a degree there were SEVERAL very slow groups out there that should have been prodded a bit.
Along with the cart paths only the range was closed as well. Both were peculiar to me since they were blaming both on the rain that happened 2 days prior. One would think that with the lack of rain prior to that and a course of this level (very nice) that at a minimum the course should be able to drain that amount of rain off. I would also like to receive some level of communication from the course informing of the conditions including the bumpy greens from the recent aeration.
Again, great course and I’ll be going back but I think there is opportunity for improvement.
Springdale is awesone
This is the second time playing this course. Great shape. Back 9 challenging
Staff is just wonderful and pro shop has very nice merchandise
Way nicer than expected
Come on a Tuesday for $69 for a round of 18 and a meal! Great conditions and well worth it compared to similarly priced courses with poor grass upkeep. Facilities were redone recently and it shows.
This is always a great course to play. The holes are all unique and greens and fairways are immaculate, even in August
Snail pace is generous
11/2 hour front 9..3 hr back nine…..no Marshall….need to be addressed at these prices you expect service
This Golf Course is a well kept secret!!!
Most enjoyable spot with my grandkids today. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, respectful, and professional. The course is superbly maintained, offering cool mountain air and breathtaking views. The facilities are top-notch, and the overall atmosphere is perfect for families. It was simply a special time at this Golf Course, which I highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable golfing experience!
Hard To Enjoy Slow Play
Springdale is a course I hadn't played for many years and not since the redo. Very nice facility with beautiful views of the mountains and updated pro shop, clubhouse, restaurant/bar.
The course is a good test with a variety of valley & mountain holes. It also was in above avg. condition despite recent rainfall making it play long. Unfortunately it was hard to enjoy the course because play was so slow, 5:20 round when we teed off at 10:20am. A group of 16 players who teed off approximately 1 hour before and playing a team Ryder Cup format held up every one after them for the entire day. People behind us were quitting and leaving the course throughout the back. Inexcusable period. A Saturday, peak season and no ranger? or we never saw him. By the 7th hole, there were 8 groups on three holes, par 4, par3, par 5 and it never got faster. When approaching staff member after the round, was listed 5 excuses while never apologizing. Unacceptable period. Would only return to play maybe on a weekday only.
Un expected Jem
I was dropping off my daughter at camp and decided to play around the golf between the time I dropped her off and when my flight left back home. I am so happy I did . The course immaculate the staff and the amenities at the course were on point. I really enjoyed my round and will be making a point to not only play there again, but possibly stay at the resort when I come pick my daughter up from camp or drop her off next year. It was great.
A lot of money has gone into upgrades over the last three years and it really shows. Staff is great and course is well maintained.
Thank you for your comment. It was a slow day due to a lot of play and cart restrictions because of heavy rain we had been receiving. I'm sure playing as a two-some made it a long day. Our ranger spoke to you several times during your round and tried to pair you up with another group behind you. We are sorry this did not work out for you. Our course is 4.5 hours normally for pace of play in dry conditions and cart path restrictions require 5 hours to complete play. We hope to see you again under more favorable conditions.
