About Springdale at Cold Mountain
Springdale at Cold Mountain has been bolstered in 2021 with a new clubhouse, which is the lifeblood of the resort's "Village at Springdale", which is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is home to the Rocky Face Tavern, a welcome center, fitness center and outdoor pool. An old stone patio and outdoor fireplace are gathering spots in summer. Guests can choose from 18 different villas, homes, townhomes and cottages to rent. The 6,865-yard course has also been recently renovated.Facts

Great shape!!
First time playing this course. Visiting from out of town and found a hot deal on golfnow. The course is in great shape. Greens are actually a little deceptive on some of the breaks. It is slightly more expensive than I was hoping to pay, but not over the top. The pace of play was my only negative. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I would play it again for sure though!!
Course is in Great shape!
Beautiful layout. Better score well on the front bc the back is tough! Enjoyed it
Surprise in the Mountains
We had not heard much about Springdale except for GN reviews and were pleasantly surprised with the layout and conditions. Greens were smooth, quick but not stupid fast , and fairways were plush but firm. Good variety of holes with doglegs both ways and for the most part user friendly. Rough was just thick enough to be difficult, but not hide the ball difficult. Would definitely recommend when in the area.
Great course
New owners have done an amazing job rebuilding a good bit well worn old course.
Pro shop
Probably one of the friendliest staffs from pro shop to starter
I would definitely go back.
We were in NC for a wedding and I saw a deal on this course for the day we drove home. The second we got out of our car the starter was there with our cart, explained the process and couldn’t be nicer. Club house and amenities were beautiful. Staff was great. The golf was great. I would not hesitate to go back.
Springdale review
Springdale is a very fun course to play. It has some very challenging holes but they are fair. Beautiful setting. Thoroughly enjoyed playing at Springdale. Will return to play again. Highly recommend!
Outstanding
It doesn’t get much better than Springdale is right now. The price is a little steep. Especially on the weekend mornings. But weekday afternoons $70 is a value for the condition of this course. The customer service is outstanding from check in to the time you leave. The course is in very good shape. Fairways. Tees. Both near perfect. The rough is extremely thick. It will penalize you. The greens are some of the best I’ve played. They were so smooth and quick. Very firm. Unless you can really spin the ball. You need to land the ball short and roll it up to the pin. Bc flying it to the pin resulted in off the back of the green. The only small complaint I have is the one green side bunker I was in needed to be raked. I had to take a spot. Then drop my ball. Very small complaint for the rest of the course. The staff here is doing an outstanding job. The layout is outstanding as well. Very challenging with beautiful mountain views. The course is pretty long from the white tees-over 6400 yards. There are 5 sets of tees and the white is the second one from the back. Their is a hybrid tee set on the scorecard between gold and white that plays right at 6000 yards which is great for an average golfer. The greens are pretty flat. With subtle breaks that are tough to see. The first tee shot is a long downhill dogleg right. About 400 yards from the white tee. But an easier angle and about 330 from the gold on the hybrid tees. 2 is a straight flat par 4. Long at 400 yards from the white. But a very manageable 300 from the gold on the hybrid tees. 3 is a medium length uphill par 3. The green has a huge ridge in the middle. So check pin placement. Bc it makes a big difference. 4 is a shorter downhill par 4. Less than driver off the tee due to a small pond that covers about 1/2 the fairway. 5 is a shorter par 5 that doglegs slightly left. Pretty tight hole. 6 is long from the white tees. And again. More manageable from the gold in the hybrid tees. It’s a hard dogleg left. Uphill. With a blind pond on the left. Very tough hole from the white tees. 7 is a short par 4. But plays steeply uphill and makes it play much longer. 8 is a long downhill par 3 from the white tees about 190. From the gold on the hybrid tee about 150. 9 is a great par 5. Relatively short. But with a steep downhill slope at the end of the fairway. There is a creek that crosses about 75 yards from the green that you can’t see from the upper fairway. So check your yardage. 10 is a longer dogleg left par 5. Downhill tee shot. Uphill second shot. 11 is a medium length par 4. Again downhill tee shot. Slightly uphill approach over a small creek. 12 is about 150 par 3. Slightly downhill shot. 13 is the signature hole. The Springdale Spasm. From the white tee nearly impossible. Over 400 yards double dogleg uphill the whole way. With a creek on the right that crosses the fairway. Much more manageable from the gold on the hybrid tees. 14 is a cool hole. Long par 4. Hard dogleg left at about the 150 maker. If you can hit a draw that lands at the top of the hill it will go straight downhill and leave you with a very short approach. If not. You’ll have a long but downhill approach shot. 15 is a really long par 4. All uphill. Plays really long. 16 is a really long par 4. That plays back downhill and over a ravine to the green. 17 is a medium length par 3. Very tight. Smaller green. 18 is a great par 5. Relatively short. Downhill tee shot with a creek that comes into play on the second shot. Uphill approach to a big relatively blind green. All in all. A great round. And even at the high prices they are asking. It’s worth a play.
Springdale Golf Course
First time playing Springdale and had a very positive experience. The course is in great shape and pace of play was excellent. The driving range was not open because it has been lengthen and they are waiting for new nets to line the range to catch wild shots. The driving range should be opened by the beginning of July. We summer in Asheville and will definitely play Springdale as often as we can. Highly recommend.
Beautiful
Course is in great shape. Very enjoyable experience. Will play again soon.
Excellent course, but steep green fees
The course layout is fantastic. You really can’t beat how neat of a course this is nestled down in the valley with most of the back nine up toward the mountains. It was disappointing that their green fees have gone up so much compared to my first time playing there only 2 years ago. Even more disappointing that they were that much and they had recently punched the greens. The amenities there are excellent. The walk up food/beverage stand to get food and drink is great. The restaurant/bar is excellent although we didn’t eat there this time. We will return but only if we are able to get a hot deal again. There aren’t too many places I’d pay over $100 to play a round of golf. As much as I love this course, I wouldn’t pay >$100/round to return.
