Nice round
Some of the greens are having issues but the rest the courses is in great shape
Has clearly gone downhill...I'm done
Reviewed this course a year ago. Undoubtedly a very fine layout, as I said last year (nothing changed in that regard!). But the greens are clearly below average: slow and in very poor condition. Rumors in the area suggest that the place is having serious financial challenges and can't invest $ to get the greens improved. But what annoyed me most about this last outing was that the people in the pro shop said with a straight face that the place was in excellent shape, greens included. I deliberately asked about this the day before we played knowing of our issue last year. And then after the round, this was discussed with them, and the fancy footwork was nauseating...these people simply have no credibility. I would recommend only if they were offering a money back guarantee.
Disappointed
Been paying Talamore for more than 15 years and conditions were worst I've experienced there. Collars recently resodded so rough and shaggy, greens filled with bare spots, wet fairway areas from drainage problems. Won't be back anytime soon. Spend your money at Legacy not far away.
great course and you get to use all your clubs
Choose the correct tee box to get the most enjoyment out of your round. Course is challenging yet fair. Will play this again when I am in Pinehurst. Great value for the area and pace of play was very good
Talamore Good - Greens okay to fair
The course was in good condition, however, some of the greens had blight on some of the surfaces. Greens were bumby (not overly so). Tee to green was in good condition. Pace of play good. Brother played with me - he got his first Hole-in-One on I think #6, too bad I wagered him, he shot excellent. Started was good, clubhouse good. Was getting ready to play Pinehurst #4 and #2 over the weekend needed a good priced similiar course set-up, this worked.
Great layout, great value for the money
My friend and I played the blue tees and the course was in good shape, it has been in better shape but we've had a lot of rain lately. Was definitely worth the $39 that golf now sold it for. Our pace of play was great it took us three and a half hours to play 18 holes.
July Golf Trip Mid South.
Tee to Green this course was in great shape. Greens were good but a little hairy(lot's of rain and had not been cut), fairways were very nice. Hard to tell about the traps as we endured 3 separate rain delay's during our Round. As much rain as we had the course drained very well.
Staff was pleasant and we had zero problems contrary to previous reviews. The Bar and Grill was mediocre at best and service there was average.
Great course in Pinehurst area
Love this course & it's sister course, Mid South Club. Must plays when in the Ponehurst area.
Summer Time Blues
Have been playing Talamore since it opened. Had the rate not been $49 due to summer season I would have complained about the 4 hour and 50 minute round with a starting time of 8:30, and the very poor condition of more than half the greens. Some kind of mold or disease left numerous bare spots. Don't know how long this will take to repair but buyer beware when the rates go up in September. This is a great track I hope they get this straightened out.
So Sad to See Talamore Fall So Far
Pros: Cart girl was nice and the water on the course seemed fresh. Hot dog at the turn was delicious.
Cons: where to begin? Greens were uneven and unmowed. Collars were dead (and they looked like they were recently sodded) and playing through them was like playing through velcro. Tee boxes and fairways were bare. They couldn't even be bothered to cut fresh holes. Pace of play was horrible -- waiting on EVERY shot.
Choose Talamore because we've always had a nice time there and the conditions always maintained. But this time we feel ripped off, even at the golf now discounted rate. And not even a word of apology or caution from the staff. Fool me once . . . in a group planning to play there later in the summer and I will suggest to our leaders that we demand a refund.
Played the day before at Whispering Woods -- a fun little course for half the price and in fine shape. Talamore should be ashamed of asking for full price and delivering a dog patch.
Good layout but in very average condition
Course was very poorly maintained. It appeared that they had cut back on their maintenance of the golf course.
Talamore 1
First time to play this course. Great course to play for any skilled golfer. Fantastic day! Would recommend this course to anyone. Will definitely play here again.
Course ok. Gene in the pro shop is a straight up jerk.
course was in ok shape. If u have to experience Gene in the pro shop good luck he is a straight up jerk. Never been treated like that ever before anywhere. Talked to the general manager and he apologized for him. Cart guy said I was not the first person to complain about him. Not sure why they keep him around.
Nice course but they had air raided the greens!
We enjoyed the course but the greens were slow and sand was all over them.
Great Course
The resort course was in excellent condition overall. A few greens had some issues but didn't effect me. A nice variety of rolling terrain and some long carries. I played at 1:40 by myself so obviously pace of play was perfect. Very nice practice range off natural turf and it also was in very good shape. I live in Raleigh so this was about an hours drive and well worth it. Really want to play it again. Staff was really friendly. Again a well designed course with challenges / my type of course. I am a 3 handicap and played the blue tees.
Going downhill fast
This course used to be touted as one of the finest in the Pinehurst area. Now it's one of the worst. It was always annoying that it seemed to be designed for slow play. With long distances between greens and the next tee, it isn't practice to walk. And fencies blocking access to many fairways make them "cart path only" even in perfect weather, so you wait while the group in front sheleps across the fairway, hoping they brought the right clubs. And the parking areas are as far as 70yds from green centers, several in front of the green. All adds up to a slow round.
But, the group in front will have a chance to clear the way while you three put on the greens that all have huge areas where they have lost their turf and you can try to put through sand painted green (every green and large areas).
Couple this with an arrogant staff that act like they are doing you a favor by letting you play and it makes for an unpleasant experience.
Totally disorganized and rude
We were treated very poorly by the front office staff to the on course staff. Very disorganized, bumped from our tee time that was reserved for weeks by members showing up unannouced (told this by starter), told us that they would ensure a 4:20 round and it was almost 50 minutes longer, when we wanted to book a replay before starting was told lots of spots available, but when were were sent to starter after first round he told us we would have to wait 2 hours, so we had to ask for refund. They really do not want visitors play so they should just not accept them. Other 8 days in Pinehurst were an absolute pleasure. Don't waste you time and money here.
Always a pleasre!
Having played Talamore on many occasions, I have always marvelled at its beauty and challenge ( probably the toughest starting hole I've ever played). My only disappointment this trip was the condition of many of the greens that had patches of disease. A real shame! Otherwise it was great to play there with my wife, and I will play there again, if they don't price themselves too high.
Not worth the price
I played this course on 4/5/2105. I have no idea who maintains this course but it needs help. About half the greens had bald spots that were covered with a green sand/grass mixture. The bunkers need more sand, you'll more than likely skull your wedge shots out of there. The regular spring rate for this course is $115 for a weekend round. Until this course gets in shape, I would find a better deal....
Beautiful course
My son and I played the course and both loved it. We will certainly play it again. The staff were friendly and helpful. A few of the greens had bad patches but overall the course was in great shape.
Played in September and the greens are still in poor shape.
