Nice Course but not worth the money.
I booked a 08:00 tee time that was not stated as a shotgun start during the booking but turned out to be . Payed top dollar for a Saturday morning Tee time and a shotgun start that was 30 minutes late in starting. Paying top dollar should have allotted individual Tee Time.....shotgun start is not worth the money or time and made the round less then desirable for someone wanting to enjoy a course that the Champions Tour plays. To top it all...we were rushed because of the 30 minute late start caused by their own grounds maintenance and a tournament that had been scheduled for a little later in the day. We were instructed we would have to step aside if the tournament began before we finished and that the tournament players had priority and would be shotgun started also... so if they came and started on the hole we were playing that we would have to stop and let them play through. I may play the course again but I will not book a 08:00 tee time nor will I play on a day that they have a tournament booked. The Beauty and prestige of the course does not make the money spent to play there worth it. They may take good care of the professional golfers but for the regular golfer.... do not expect anything extra for the money you spend there.
Always challenging and always well maintained.
Rock Barn staff are always very cordial and the course is always in great condition. They maintain it better than most courses.
Nice Course, challenging Par 3s
We called the course in the morning to ensure the previous nights storm would not disrupt play. The pro shop ensured that it would be cleaned up. We found debris everywhere on the course, almost blocking some cart paths. Trees were down throughout the course. I wish the course would have been more forthright concerning the conditions. I doubt if we will return.
Offers every level of golfer a challenge
Playing from the back brings so many features into play. It is a very well designed and kept course.
Bumpy Greens as of 06/08/2013
Although the Jones course at Rock Barn is one of my favorite courses, its greens were really rough and bumpy on 06/08/2013. I understand this is a bi-yearly thing at most every course, that's why I am still giving it 4 Stars. If you have the chance, wait at least a couple more weeks to play the Rock Barn Jones Course.
it was a beautiful setting
there were two 18 hole courses. played them both, just a great tract.,and you play the same course as the senior tour.
The course has great features.
This course makes you think but can be very enjoyable. Definitely a Jones course. The only reason for the 4 star instead of 5, is because the greens had recently been punched and sanded. They still held. Putting was a little challenging.
This course is highly recommended.
We liked the changes in elevation with its great ridgeline views. This course offers very nice tee boxes (5 sets) manicured fairways with good rough; nice white sand which had been raked; and large greens with good pin placements. We like to challenges offered with the water hazards requiring hitting precision shots.
one of the most scenic and beautiful settings for a mountain course i have played.
although the greens had recently been aerated (and notification given) we had a wonderful golf experience. staff were friendly and accommodating. the course is challenging, but fair. no "tricked out" holes and nice sized greens. lots of bunkers to make it interesting and a fair amount of water. highly recommend this course. you will not be disappointed!!
Amazing course views!!!
This Jones design course is a very challenging layout. The amount of bunkers, elevation changes and water make for a picturesque round of golf. We played one day after the airification process was performed on the greens. Normally this would make for a disappointing day on the course. The beauty of this course however made this an enjoyable round. I will definitely recommend this course to my friends. I look forward to returning when the course is in normal condition.
Nice course. Don't play on a weekend. Way too slow.
Rock Barn is a very nice course with a nice layout. The fairways were in good condition. The greens were being aerated so I won't comment on them. The major problem with this course is the lack of a starter on the tees and no ranger on the course to speed up play. I would not play this course on a weekend unless you bring your iPad and watch movies while you wait. Too bad as it is a very nice course if you don't mind waiting on every hole.
Great course with a lot of challenges!
Very fun course, with a lot of challenging holes. The course was in very good shape. The staff was great. I will be back! Thanks Rock Barn!
Excellent golf day!
Excellent golf course and conditions, very friendly staff!
great course
Great track, fast greens and friendly staff, price was awesome too. Will definitely be back.
course needs attention to playing condition details
course is a good design but has several short weak par fours. hit 3 wood off the tee on 4 consecutive holes.
course needs better maintenance. bunkers were washed out from rain 2 days ago.
fairways had been punched and it was not possible to play the ball down.
greens have healed from punching 3 weeks ago with punching scheduled again for end of may.
A players course
Played last week. Greens were perfect! Bent Grass greens, smooth and soft. Take note Quail Hollow. Played early, course uncrowded, beautiful, ... This is a long course, watch which tees you play, staff friendly, easy going. Worth playing.
Course offers everthing you want.....
I found this course to have everything I could ask for in a golf course. challenging and rewarding, scenic and well laid out. caught a great deal and will always look to play again. I played the best I ever played and I believed the course brought it out of me.....
For Golf Now Prices---good deal
I wouldn't pay the regular rate of $45, but for the $30 deals on Golf Now this is a pretty good place to play. Course is usually maintained well, nice carts and good snack bar. Prices are too high at the snack bar, but the course conditions are really worth the value.
Great course
Had aerated recently but still a real nice course. Par 3 with a lot of water. Quite hilly in some some spots. Very helpful staff.
Interesting course to play. Still in dormant condition.
Holes need markings. Very difficult for a newcomer to
find some of the holes....esp. the Par 3s on Jones.
Helpful to have known that greens had just been
aerated
