Great conditioning on the Jackson Course (Jones course closed)
Played here 8/7/2013. Had been wet in the area, but the course was in great condition. Lots of challenging holes even from the 6000 yard tees. Keep it in the fairway and you can play this course well. Hit it into the rough and you'll have your hands full to get it to the green!
GREAT FACILITY
Great conditions, great practice areas including a practice green with bunkers, a range and huge putting green. Choose between two great courses both well maintained. Cooler with ice on every cart. Expectations met! Never disappointed as I live nearby and play here 20 to 30 times a year and always look forward to it.
Traps need to be re-worked and sod around greens fixed
The fairways are good and the tee boxes but the sand traps have been washed out due to the tremendous amount of rain we have had this year.
The greens are recovering from being aerated and roll well but the greens keepers were applying sod trim around many of the greens
Rock Barn is a true GEM!!
I have played both courses at Rock Barn, and they are excellent. A true challenge for any skill level. The courses and staff are top notch. A must play if you're in the Greater Hickory area!
Great Greens
Played the Jackson course and it was in great shape considering it's been raining for a month straight here. I'ts not as difficult as the Jones course, but for $20 less per round, it's well worth it.
Great
Rock Barn is awesome. The fairways were perfect. The greens were perfect. Considering all the rain we've had, this was a truly wonderful experience and well worth the 45 minute drive from Huntersville, NC.
one of the best courses in Western north Carolina!
The course was in great shap, its always in gerat shape! I have play there twice a month all year one of the best courses in Western north Carolina!
Great course and in excellent conditions.
Course is very well maintained, is challenging and greens are not super fast but the ball rolls true.
Well kept course with many challenging feature.
One of the best course around. Considering that its been raining all week the course was kept in great shape. Would definitely play it again.
Even after all that rain....
This is not the most interesting course (especially compared to the Jones), but it was holding up really well considering we have been under a flood warning for about a week. Golf now makes it worth the money. Its fun. Nice day of golf. Greens were particularly in good shape.
the course and greens were in great shape
the course and greens were in great shape even in are the rain was able to finish the round
excellant condition except a few places killed around the greens on the back nine
excellant course, like layout very much, very tranquil
Challenging course in good shape at a good price!
The Jackson course is as good if not better than the Jones course and half the price! The course for the middle of summer was in good shape and the greens rolled perfectly!
A great course to play
Took wife with me for the first time and she loved the course even tho she was riding in the cart..Me myslef as a golfer love this course .
Excellent practice facilities. Great food A+
All around immaculate course. I wish it was closer.
Nice Course but not worth the money.
I booked a 08:00 tee time that was not stated as a shotgun start during the booking but turned out to be . Payed top dollar for a Saturday morning Tee time and a shotgun start that was 30 minutes late in starting. Paying top dollar should have allotted individual Tee Time.....shotgun start is not worth the money or time and made the round less then desirable for someone wanting to enjoy a course that the Champions Tour plays. To top it all...we were rushed because of the 30 minute late start caused by their own grounds maintenance and a tournament that had been scheduled for a little later in the day. We were instructed we would have to step aside if the tournament began before we finished and that the tournament players had priority and would be shotgun started also... so if they came and started on the hole we were playing that we would have to stop and let them play through. I may play the course again but I will not book a 08:00 tee time nor will I play on a day that they have a tournament booked. The Beauty and prestige of the course does not make the money spent to play there worth it. They may take good care of the professional golfers but for the regular golfer.... do not expect anything extra for the money you spend there.
Always challenging and always well maintained.
Rock Barn staff are always very cordial and the course is always in great condition. They maintain it better than most courses.
Nice Course, challenging Par 3s
We called the course in the morning to ensure the previous nights storm would not disrupt play. The pro shop ensured that it would be cleaned up. We found debris everywhere on the course, almost blocking some cart paths. Trees were down throughout the course. I wish the course would have been more forthright concerning the conditions. I doubt if we will return.
Offers every level of golfer a challenge
Playing from the back brings so many features into play. It is a very well designed and kept course.
Bumpy Greens as of 06/08/2013
Although the Jones course at Rock Barn is one of my favorite courses, its greens were really rough and bumpy on 06/08/2013. I understand this is a bi-yearly thing at most every course, that's why I am still giving it 4 Stars. If you have the chance, wait at least a couple more weeks to play the Rock Barn Jones Course.
