Rock Barn Golf and Spa - Jackson Course

Just an FYI.. until next spring you'll only get 17 holes on the Jackson course. They're disassembling the 18th hole. shortening it and using the green area to build a hotel for adjacent spa .

I would've thought they would have reduced the normal rates due to this as they do after an aeration. But no. 👎🏼

Others can try to be Rock Barn but there can only be one. Nearly perfect conditions and the greens were excellent. As good as a course can be. Might be the best course in Nc condition wise.

One thing however often puzzles me while on the course. Hole 17 on Jackson. As you approach the last half of this hole & the green, the GPS boundaries for Cart Restriction start about 65 yards out if you are anywhere from just right of the center of the fairway all the way to, and even thru, the left side rough. Yet you can drive to within 10 feet of the greenside sand traps on the front right of the green. Obviously, this right side area of the fairway is way more compacted from traffic than the left due to this... and some approach shots will bounce & travel way further on the right side than the left side as you approach this green.

Great course. About $60 with a cart. Great condition. Great layout! Great greens! Fairways were really nice.

Plays a lot longer than it reads. Very well kept. Greens have alot of unrepaired divots, which for a member course, baffles me; but I digress… Friendly staff, great value and definitely will play again

One of my favorite courses in western NC. Always a good pace of play, staff is friendly, and course is in good conditions.

I’m retired in FL and play a lot of golf. I also RV and golf in my travels. Rock Barn/Jackson course was a pleasure and I’m so glad I drove a few extra miles to play it! Conditions were excellent ( a little maintenance going on in a couple of spots), staff friendly and helpful, and the layout itself was fantastic. Great variety of shots and vistas!! I’ll go back every time I’m in the area!!

The Jackson course is in fantastic shape. Only the 9th green showed any issues, but only on the fringes.

Course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast but true. Gentleman in the pro shop was very friendly and more importantly provided my son and I the details and logistics of the course. We had a great time.

Course plays longer than the yardage and you will use all your clubs. Has a good variety of holes and overall in very good condition. A few areas, mainly in the rough, had washed due to recent heavy rain. Greens were smooth and good speed, but I wish more players would take the time to fix ball marks. Fairways excellent. Would strongly recommend if in the area especially if you can get on for $60 or less. Course wasn’t full and we made it around with no waiting.
