Short and not very wide but a great track.
Scheduled to play Saturday but rained all morning so contacted the course to reschedule for Sunday and the Pro Shop was more than happy to do so. Played the Dogwood and Blue Ridge 9 holes today and they were both in great shape from tee to green. Greens were Awesome!!! and rolled true with no bare spots which is great since most other courses have had a lot of problems do to all the rain. Little to no water in the fairways and it had rained all day on Saturday. Would definitely play again and try to get in all three nine holes. Staff was friendly and practice ranges were very nice. Cart path only today but pace of play was not an issue. Thank you to GolfNow for the discounted rate and making it easier to afford playing this course.
Nice mountain course
We were fortunate that they were not busy so were able to breeze through the 18 holes.
The very wet weather has affected conditions on all mountain courses including this one so we do not want to be overly critical since much of this was out of their control and impacted their maintenance schedules.
We played Blue Ridge /Carolina so had a taste of very hilly and Donald Ross flat and enjoyed our round.
Beautiful course very playable for anyone
Course was very busy......long round! But the starter Clark was the man...he helped me get around a very large group, and he made my day enjoyable. The ranger JP was help as well. My hat is off to these two gents. Cheers mates
Fun tract to play.
A fun course with some very interesting holes. The putting greens are in excellent condition but, being a mountain course, difficult to read.

Great Fun and Thank Goodness For GolfNow
Short course and very well maintained. Some very interesting holes. Pro shop and golf staff are super friendly and flexible. The rack rate is too high for the course, however and they charge resort guests the highest fee. This makes no sense as that's who pays for the rooms, restaurants, etc.; it bugs me when a company charges its best customers the most. We were resorts guests but were able to save a little money by booking through GolfNow.
All in all, well worth the drive 30 minutes past Asheville -- we will try to return.
Always a great place to play
With 3 different 9's, this is always a fun place to play. The course has been in great condition every time I've been there.
The course is very golfer friendly, your score will make you feel like a real golfer !
The course has great greens, fairways were average but playable. The course from the back tees is less than 6,000 yards so scoring is available.
A deceivingly challenging golf course
When you first arrive at the Waynesville Golf Course and Inn, history sort of jumps out at you and says, "these are examples of yesterday's fine architecture and the game of gentlemen...(and ladies, these days). The pro shop attendant is friendly, eager to accommodate and the starter made sure my son and I went off on the least busy of the three 9 hole courses available for play. The course was an expected busy on a Sunday, but we played without a wait and with no one pushing us. My son is a novice golfer and the relaxing pace made it easier for us to concentrate on his shots and even left a little time for the occasional second shot and a bit of instruction. The card, from the white tees, doesn't indicate anything close to a disturbing distance. I've been playing golf long enough to know better, but I thought I was in for an easy day of driver and short irons. The fairways are in great shape and the greens held the ball, rolled true and had plenty of mountain golf undulations. The par fives are long enough that a big hitter will not always be able to "get there" in two and some of the par fours were blind shots and required "target golf". The two nines my boy and I played were challenging enough with the mountain terrain and the views from some of the elevated tees were spectacular.
The Tap Room is attended by a young, congenial staff and the young man behind the bar made sure we had everything we needed at the turn.
The facilities are clean and well kept, the menu looked inviting and the hot dogs were terrific, served on a warmed bun.
Golf carts are clean and appeared relatively new. All in all, I'd recommend this golf course as well kept, well managed and user friendly.
excellent value
well maintained course with nice mountain views. played 18 holes in 3 hrs, friendly staff and fellow golfers
Good value with GolfNow. Beautiful scenery and a very nice course.
This is a great course that combines mountain views, some elevation changes and excellent conditions, while not being super-difficult as some "mountain courses" can be. The setting is beautiful, the views are great in all directions and the course is always in good to excellent condition. All 3 nine-hole tracts are par 35, and are a bit on the short side, but, elevation and dog-legs create a bit of a challenge to make up for distance. Starters are friendly, pro shop staff is accommodating and the Tap Room Grill has a nice atmosphere. All around it's a very nice place to play and stick around for a nice lunch. During peak season the GolfNow deals are $25, or more, less than the rack-rate for non-members, a great savings indeed.
Nice mountain views
For the price it was pretty good. Nice course -- very nice greens
This course has magnificent views as well as some of the prettiest golf holes I've seen.
The first tee on any of the course's seem to draw you in with the awesome shape that they are in. They set the stage for a very enjoyable round.
Great mountain course with great views
Course was not extremely long but the greens were hard to read. The speed of the greens was slow on the day we played. Beautiful scenery with the mountains in the background. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
This course was fun to play. we found the staff very accomadaitng.
Beautiful mountain setting, fun course to play. Especially enjoyed the Carolina course.
Greens are the equalizer..
Picked up a Hot Deal for this course.. features three 9-hole options (Dogwood, Blue Ridge, and Carolina tracks).. I played Dogwood and Blue Ridge yesterday starting just before mid-day.. The staff were super friendly and helpful in providing information to me as a first time player- especially as a Hot Deal player (as some courses can be dismissive when you play for that low price)..
The course is not a long course- many of the Par 4's on the Dogwood track in particular are under 400 yards- with medium/small narrow fairways it is tempting to bomb your driver- if you can control your drive you'll have some short wedge approach shots- with a 3/5 wood or long iron off the tee you should still have a short iron at worse.. the trick is landing on the small greens..
Greens are true- they rolled great but the hole locations take back what the distance provides.. the key is to hit fairways and value accuracy over distance from the tee box on this course- if you're not accurate off the tee you can play your 2nd shot but it may be from an adjoining fairway and it will definitely make par difficult at best... if you can stay close to the pins throughout the day it will produce a great round.. Greens are the best I've played in the WNC area this year but they are challenging..
Only thing that needs improvement is better distance markers- either I was really striking the ball well of the distances marked are closer than the mark indicates and most holes only have the 150 yard marker which adds to your work if you're like me and don't keep any distance gadgets with you.. if you have GPS then disregard..
Overall this was a good course- a little bit of a drive for me from South Asheville but the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort is easily accessible and a short drive once you get off of the highway.. If you've been curious to play this course- go ahead and check it out- you likely will not be disappointed..
play time is well-cordinated...even when a large group event is on the couorse
Considering unusual wet weather, course is in good playable condition. Staff is always courteous and accommodating.
Overrated
Very little room for error for the average player. Older course that is nothing special, but the prices sure are high for the quality.
Soggy conditions but great little gem.
This course is great Donald Ross layout. All of the valley courses are struggling with the heavy rains and high humidity, and Waynesville is no exception. And, if you walk, I recommend that one of the nines include the "Carolina" nine - there is great distance between some of the tees on the Dogwood course.
But. it's fun to play a pretty course with some reachable par 5s and drivable par 4s!
Very enjoyable course to play
The course was in very good condition (especially considering the high levels of rain that they have experienced). The staff were supper friendly and helped make the experience of playing their course enjoyable.
My favorite
I have played a handful of courses in the Asheville area, this is my favorite.
