Great Experience!
This was my first time booking through GolfNow, but when I saw the value in this price for what I knew was a great course, I could't pass it up. A great experience on a great course, hassle-free check-in, and super friendly staff made for a fantastic round of golf on a premier course!
solid
We've played here many times and like this course. Some observations:
No ranger to keep pace of play moving. It can be slowwww at times.
The snack house is closed most of the time and when it's open doesn't have many things (hot dogs, cocktails).
The tee boxes were chewed up and oddly they have no sand/seed mix on the tee boxes or carts.
Great track but a bit disorganized
Loved the course, didn't love not having a starter at the first tee- even on a Thursday it was chaos. The course itself was great- interesting layout, great condition and good pace of play. It's also a great setting with some cart paths snaking through marinas. Blue tees vs white doesn't really change the course much with the exception of a few holes. I'll be back for sure.
This course is a stern challenge for the average golfer
tough
Sawmill is a challenging course and really enjoyed playing but my score did not
Fast greens
Course is in great shape, only gripe is a few uneven tee boxes. First course I've been to in a long time that had a Ranger out on the course on a week day. Challenging course that at $26 Hot Deal is a steal. Even at $40 you won't regret it.
Course is going downhill
I usually play this course a few times a year. The greens used to be be fast and well maintained. Fairways used to be great also. Unfortunately that isn't the case anymore. It's still pretty good, but there are weeds now (didn't used to be any) and the general "care" of the course isn't what it once was. I got it for $25 on a hot deal and would play it again for that price, but not for more.
UNFRIENDLY STAFF
We played our first round of the year there a few days ago and thus our first 9 were a bit slow. We were making the turn around 5 and was denied playing the back 9 even though no one else was playing. The Golf Pro who was running the shop obviously wanted to get home early at the expense of my friends who spent good money and took time off of work to make the trip to Sawmill. I pleased with him but he rudely stood his ground. Beautiful course but will never spend another dime there because of this.
Good round
My first time playing here and I was impressed. Course was in great shape, the greens where very fast, and kept.. some good challenging holes. I would definitely come back.
Worth the ride
One of the nicest course in northeast Ohio. Always well maintained and worth the drive. Greens are always very fast. Regular rates are too high for me but if you can find a hot deal for $25 or less book it. Only negatives are pin placements that cause your ball to roll back to you if you miss and the clubhouse employees. Last time I was there the guy at the counter made me wait 10 minutes while he was on the phone and then had an attitude about me using a hot deal. Also, make sure you keep the hole map handy when heading to number 10, it's hard to find the tee and the signs are no help.
Nice Track
I really enjoyed the track of this course. The trees, fairways, and layout made for an enjoyable, scenic, peaceful, fun round. The greens roll fast and true. On several holes, you can hear the sounds of the waves of Lake Erie. Provided a good challenge while still being enjoyable. Will definitely play again.
Very memorable par 3s!
I'm a six handicap and played the course from the tips on a windy day fresh off a 5 hour drive. Add to that the fact I'm 67 years old and suffice it to say I was in a little over my head. The course is beautifully maintained with fast, true greens which proved difficult to read. Many of the bunkers were water filled since a one inch rain fell the day before. The staff was very friendly and the food at the grill was excellent. While I didn't play up to my standards, I came away in awe of the par 3 holes. Each one has a forced water carry and from the gold tees is quite intimidating. I left quite proud of myself in that I hit all 4 greens in one shot. Even if you don't play from the tips take a look at each one from there and you'll see what I mean. All in all the course is quite a test. Bring your A game. The only negative I saw was the lack of a range, only a net is provided adjacent to the first tee.
A Must Play!
Can't say enough about this track! Great assortment of holes and in excellent condition considering the horrible lack of rain. Well manicured and green enough. Greens were fast and true, and I was lucky enough to make a few putts that helped the scorecard. Staff was very friendly. Drove 75 minutes to get here, and I can't wait to get back! A must play for the avid player. Highly recommend Sawmill Creek!
Too slow. Had to go.
Very nice course. Greens were extremely fast and challenging. Pace was extremely slow. Waiting almost every hole to T off and others waiting behind us. Left after hole 11.
Sawmill Creek - Awesome
As always everything from check in to end of round was perfect. Only complaint (and a minor one at that) is that the on course snack shack closed to early
Awesome Course Conditions
In the midst of our Summer drought, they must be dumping half of Lake Erie on Sawmill Cr because it is lush green, and even I made ball-marks with iron approach shots (also note that we players should repair not only our own divots, but more). The greens --undulating & largest you might play -- and your putting stroke will make or break your round. Layout is good mix of doglegs, but Par3s are probably best collection on a course (that I can think of). The wind off of Lake Erie can really make play tough, but I was lucky this day, and play was extremely quick. I do have to brag because I made par on the "Hallway Hole" #12 ---par5 going out towards Lake Erie (with straight shots being the premium). Anyway, good day in the sunshine on great course along Lake Erie.
Fastest greens around
Great course, it rained for 6-7 holes and the course was still in great shape. Greens are very fast and very tough
Sawmill - nice course
Hot, but enjoyable, day at Sawmill Creek! Slow moving pace on the front 9; however, had the course to ourselves on the back. The fairways and large greens were in very good shape. We look forward to our next visit!
Beautiful course. Well maintained and challenging. Attendant behind the desk was rude about using discount coupon. If you don't like customers using them then they shouldn't offer.
