Great Shape
This course was in the best shape I have ever seen it. The staff was excellent and the weather was excellent. I stayed up there and played also on Wed. I am scheduled to play on Thursday and Friday also.

My favorite course to play!
The course is in excellent condition, the views are spectacular.
Nice day of golf, but long day of golf
So I called a week in advance about playing all 27 holes and was told there would be no problem doing that. We got to the course about 2 hours only since we had to drive from Hillsboro to find that a tournament was going out right before our tee time. Since we were early, we asked if we could get in front of the tournament and were told that we had to stay with our current tee time. Not sure why as there was nobody teeing off. With that said, we played behind the tournament and then started on the final 9 holes only to find 3 foursomes waiting to tee off (They were just starting their 18 hole rounds) Not sure why they had everyone start on that course as there was 2 other courses they could have broken then up on. Needless to say, it took us over 3 hours to play 9 holes. So make sure you ask if there is a tournament in town before making a tee time.
Great Day!
Lovely setting to enjoy a near-perfect golf day....including baby geese on Thistle hole 8.
Great course but
Other than the Greens being plugged everything was great everyone was very nice and helpful
Great course
I love this course. Staff is great. Course played great even in middle of January. Every time I come out here I am impressed. And with a golfnow deal for 18 holes, you can't beat it!
Whenit's dry it's cold and windy
With all the rain recently the course was fairly soggy, no roll on drives or iron shots, plugged several balls in fairway, a little cnfusining due to curves and trees and 1 course next to another if you've not been here before, greens had been areated and were lumpy and because of waterlogged condition very slow, really what you expect in Oregon at this time of year, was not busy so no pressure to keep up or be held up by others. I can see that in the summer this is a great course to play and beautiful scenery like a lovely park. I will definetly play here again.
both 9 hole courses were pretty good to golf for me
The courses have a lot of water areas, But it is pretty easy to deal with. The courses are really shaped good for golfing at.
Resort @ the Mountain (Pinecone/Thistle)
Played the blues on the Foxglove/Pine Cone combo (70.4/126/6239) in 4H, 15M with a nice husband/wife on a Golf Now Hot Deal for $22 including a cart. The weather was great, mid 70's, clear with little wind. These are some of the best and smoothest greens I have putted on recently. Hard to believe they were aerated 2 weeks ago? The greens were medium fast, smooth and firm. They putted very well with few ball marks. The fairways were generally lush and well maintained. There is not alot of rough here, what rough they have is generally lush and well maintained. 1/2 shot penalty, difficult to hit more than a middle iron out of. The reason that there isn't that much rough to rate is because if you miss the fairway by more than 5-7 yards on a good percentage of the holes, you are in a hazard or out of bounds. The tees were recently aerated which did not affect their play ability, just the way they looked. The tees on Pine Cone #5 are artificial turf because they are cut well back in the woods where there is little sun coming through the thick, tall trees to grow grass. It makes for a really cool looking tee shot coming out of the tree lined darkness into the sun drenched fairway. The traps were decently maintained with fluffy sand. However, the sand is not deep enough, there is hardpan lurking too close to the surface. Started on the Foxglove (par 36, 3066 from the blues). I did not use a wood the entire 9. The first hole is a short, fairly tight par 4. However, #1 is probably the most wide open hole on the entire 9. Nearly every hole was about 40 yards across from hazard to hazard, you had about a 30 yard wide fairway with 5 yards of rough on each side and then it was either OB or a red staked hazard where your ball is just gone, calf to knee deep sticker bushes. With every hole being very narrow, with hazards down both sides of the hole from tee to green and behind the green, this is by FAR my least favorite of their three 9's. Finished up with the Pine Cone (par 36, 3173 from the blues). While it had a few tight holes, I finally got to use a driver on all the par 4's & par 5's. More "normal" golf holes w/o hazards down both sides and behind the green. Good mixture of holes, more up down and several holes turned more than moderately. Instead of hazards down down sides, you got a reprieve on one side of many holes... if you call 50' to 100' tall trees from tee to green a reprieve. It was more interesting and playable in my opinion. This is my favorite of the three 9's. They only have nets to warm up on, no driving range. Two putting greens. The customer service from the pro shop to the starter was top notch. Nice clubhouse and an excellent grill/restaurant that is priced about what you would expect @ a golf course. The overall course conditions & spectacular views make this place definitely worth playing in spite of an overall average layout. I say average because there are too many par 4's & par 5's that are lay-up holes for longer hitters unless you can really thread the needle. A few in 27 holes = a good variety, but when it's approaching a double figure amount of holes out of 27, I have to downgrade the course layout. And I am an aggressive player, when I am telling you these are lay-up holes, trust me, they are lay-up holes!
Almost a perfect day at the course
The good...
The Staff - both people we dealt with were great today... last time we went they were not.
The golf - course was in good shape other than the greens having been punched over the past few weeks.
The weather - short sleeves and shorts in mid October!
The bad....
The restaurant etc - Closed for the season. Not even any snacks/drinks in the clubhouse. At least one of the guys filled up my coffee mug with water from the back of the pro shop.
The restrooms - Closed... enough said
A superb webfoot escape
I was the only player on the course on a mild, showery day. Perfect for me as a beginner. The upkeep on the course was excellent. Some goose droppings to deal with, but what are you going to do? Some standing water in the rough (where I frequently found myself,) but none on the fairways. Greens were predictably slow, but in good shape.
For $17 I got 18 holes, a cart and a spectacular view of the mountains. How can you beat that?
Nice Facilty
It's worth the drive if you've never been before. Course is always in great condition and the staff is very nice. Great views and always quiet.
everything excellent
weather perfect, people I played with friendly knew course very enjoyable. scoring fun.(81) I will recommend to anyone, what can I say this was something to remember, best this year.
return trip
played Fox Glove for the first time - narrow fairways,, need accurate tee shots. However, the rough area needed cutting or is needs to be advertised as a links course. Difficult to find balls in the rough. A lot of leaves also in the roughs, making it again hard to find a long hit ball, slowing down play.
Was disappointed in refreshments - limited selection of Gatorade type of drinks and candy bars. Worst I have encountered in playing over thirty different courses in 2014.
Pro shop closed when coming off course. Was lucky cart guy knew where to find where a lost club was placed when turning in the cart at end of play.

Great Course Great Day
My father in law and I played Thistle and then Fox Glove. We were the first group on the course and the greens were already groomed and in great shape. Course was in excellent condition and staff were very friendly and helpful. When we started playing the second 9 we were behind 3 groups of friends moving very slowly. They were kind enough to let us play through. We had a fun day on this course and I recommend it to any level of player. Scenery was awesome!
Course is in great shape
The course is in great shape and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The greens are fast and the fairways are narrow so if you don't hit strait you might want to bring a few extra balls. Fun course to play with a lot of beautiful scenery. We saw 5 deer on the course yesterday .
Modertately challenging
I played 3 times this past week and played the three 9 hole courses twice. My favorite is Foxglove. Pine Cone is the most forgiving, Thistle is more challenging and Foxglove is the most challenging. My initial contact with the staff where I paid rack rate was not the best, but the 2nd and 3rd times were excellent when Brandon was behind the desk. The greens roll true and overall the courses are very playable and very enjoyable.
Beautiful views
We played this course for the first tjme and we loved the views from just about every hole. The pace of play was good and the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in nice condition. On most of the holes you have to carry your approach shot all the way to the green because of well placed bunkers or elevated greens. We enjoyed our day very much at this beautiful course.
