Great Course Great Value
Tons of short par 4s made for easy low scores. Course was in great condition. Fast pace of play. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend.
Dated, mediocre layout.
Amenities and buildings are getting quite run down. Understaffed - only one person checking in, running the bar and food, so long wait at the turn. Cart paths are in desperate need of repaving - tree roots are pushing up the paths all over the place. The turf in many places is thick enough to make balls difficult to find. Tee boxes are often located in blind positions near greens so it’s common for players behind to unknowingly hit into groups ahead. Sand traps were not well kept. Greens were consistent and not very challenging or fast.
Golf
Pace of play was an issue until the group in front left after 9. The tee boxes and cart paths are bad.
Not worth returning to
Played this course days after Halloween, so I have to take into consideration that fall conditions make golf courses tougher to maintain. That said, the course was okay. There was nothing noteworthy about the layout or experience overall that would justify my paying their typical course fees. Even the hotdog was lame( If you’re going to charge over $3.00, at least make it be better than some dollar store hotdog). The man behind the counter was a grouch, too. Never saw someone miserable at a golf course when your customers are all in good moods when they come in.
Overall, I highly doubt I’ll ever go back. No reason to with other courses around. Even the average ones down the street a few miles in either direction are better. For me, I’d rather drive 30 minutes even farther to play some terrific courses. But that’s me.
Scenic
Suncrest is well manicured course. The fairways are cut perfectly.
Beautiful course very tricky greens,
Would high.y recommend
Surprising
1st time playing. October 26th. Basically Halloween. For this time of year this course was in excellent shape. All 18 greens were in great shape. Consistent. Consistently fast too. 3 putts were in play on every green. Fairways were in great shape too. Plays long on par 3's with some over 200 yards. It gives you chances to score, but you best take advantage on them. All in all a very nice hidden value. Pretty nice bar and restaurant too.
Great but SLOW
This is affiliated with a senior living center. The residents get to golf for free. It is a great benefit but tends to slow the pace of play to a crawl at times.
Steeler Game Weekend
We were in town for the game. We had a foursome and needed rental clubs. The assistant who answered the phone warned us about being able to put together a few sets. The pro shop is at the bar with nothing to purchase but a few gloves, balls. Now onto the rest.
The girls at the bar were super friendly, the course was in excellent shape, greens were excellent, and we had a blast with the clubs we had! We simply made the most of it and made memories!
