Par 3, Second Hole Photo submitted by u000004887004 on 07/09/2016
Every time I play it , I just fall deeper in love with it.
Great people, outstanding course., in as great as any course the PRO’s play!
Beautiful, outstanding love it
Great time extremely personalized service great time friendly staff
I like this B.S.!!
First time got to play Bedford Springs (B.S.). Very nice condition, both greens, fairways, and tee boxes.
Staff was friendly. Due to Covid did not stay for eats, drinks, as bar was closed.
Only item needs addressed were the unusual tee markers, that are in dire need of paint.
Second time playing course
Played this course back in December, it was outstanding then and just as great this time! Excellent condition, friendly staff, outstanding layout. I have this course booked 4 more Hot Deal tee times in the next 2 weeks. I am hoping for a lot more opportunities.
Busy within reason
I played on a Monday like I usually do and this was the longest round I have had in a while-5hours. Very busy, but for good reason. Course is in great condition. Tee to green,, everything is well manicured. It has a good variety of long and short holes and although there are some quirks in the routing, the layout is memorable. I really hate uphill par 3s, so I despised the Volcano, but other than that the course played very fair. Good mix of inviting holes and intimidating. It’s a long haul from Baltimore, but I would come back in the future.
AA
Excellent condition. Very good course for walking. Friendly staff. Wonderful round of golf.
Golf Gem
Awesome course with excellent atmosphere, conditions, and staff! All in my foursome loved this course. Will definitely be going back a second time

Well Manicured, Beautiful Course
Bedford Springs is such a wonderful course. It is painstakingly maintained, fairly long, and challenging. The staff, from pro shop to bag drop to practice range, are all friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The greens could have been a bit faster, but once we got used to the speed, we putted better. We will definitely come back!
Wow.
Nice surprise! Excellent course from start to finish.
Wow, What a Great Experience!
This course was an absolute gem! The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are just perfect. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Would play here again and again!
Nice course. Had a kids emergency and Wife and I only played 9 holes. Paid for 18. Not sure if golf now can Give me some kind of credit
Great course -- great condition for the fairways and greens. Excellent course -- The cost of 79.00 is a fair price for this course -- anything higher will not bring in a lot of golfers.
Always Enjoyable.
The course is beautiful and very well kept.. Some holes appear at first assessment to be not nearly as difficult to pat as they are. Challenging holes include the "Volcano" which takes much skill to hit the green although the hole is a short par four. There are a couple of long par fours thrown in for interest too. The new pro shop with cocktails and casual dining inside and outside overlooking the course is a must do.
Super course
We had a fantastic time playing this course! The pro shop staff and Lacy, the bartender in the clubhouse, were very friendly. The course was in great shape for this time of year. We can’t wait to play it again.
Nice course but it was wet
Conditions weren't the greatest...the course was very wet and played long. We thought it was expensive
The Bedford Springs resort is home to one of the oldest golf courses in America, laid out in 1895 by Spencer Oldham. In 1912, the Old Course was changed from an 18-hole layout to a 9-hole track by A.W. Tillinghast. In 1923, Donald Ross put his hands on it. And this is why I came: to play an architectural gem. These classic elements are just not found in a public setting very often, and emphasize strategy over length.
Take the par-3 fourth hole for example: playing more than 200 yards from all but the forward tees, this is the first of six Ross holes still intact in the current layout. Two-hundred-plus yards would be demanding alone, but you hit to a steep “volcano” green that is narrow, has two-tiers and falls off on every side. And then there is the bunker some 20 feet below the putting surface short and right...
The greens are generally small and have a lot of movement in them, though I didn’t find them recklessly quick.
The course has some subtle elevation change, but plays mostly in a valley through sycamores, oaks, maples and hickories. I think it is walkable if you choose to do so.
The conditioning of the course was impeccable, particularly for the first week in December. Everything was lush and green. The fairways were superb, and though the greens were recovering from aerification and tee boxes were top-dressed with sand, it did not affect the enjoyment of play.
My favorite holes were the opener, a short par-4 to ease you in; the par-5 fifth; the 11th which requires a blind tee shot (one of several); the par-3 14th; and the par-4 15th which offers options off the tee and plays shorter than it looks. The finishing stretch of 14-18 was formidable and really showed off the course’s architectural smorgasbord.
The pro shop is stocked with high-end options and the practice facility and staff were outstanding. Also a bonus nod for offering a course guide - a rarity seemingly in these days of GPS and apps. Bravo.
Great Deal
Played on a Hot Deal. Course was in outstanding shape and very picturesque. Everyone their couldn’t have been any nicer. Had a great time!
