Nice course
Had great time playing this course. Quite different from most courses in the area. Only down side , they had just aerated the green two days before., so it was not in the best of shape. The fairways were fine. Great place to relax and have fun.
State park
Lots of acreage ponds woods and especially different elevations pace good. Price good
Scenic, But A Poor Ride
It rained the night prior so conditions were cart path only. I was alerted by the pro shop that the cart paths were in need of repair because of tree roots. Understatement to say the least! Back injury can result if you're not careful. Old style parkland mountain course with tight fairways and postage stamp size greens. Early spring so fairways had not been mowed. Green surfaces were disappointing. Staff was friendly and informative. I do not recommend this course. South Carolina parks department needs to spend some money and bring this course back from life support.
I would play this course again
For early March, the course was in above-average shape. It was very wet due to rain and was cart path only, which made for a rather long round. We only imagine how beautiful the course will be once fully green and the leaves are out. The greens were above average but again - it was wet. The course offered many challenges, long par 4s and uphill shots to some greens. The staff was extremely friendly also. The course is definitely worth playing.
Best Course for the Money
I booked this tee time and played for $10.98!! No way you can beat the price let alone find a better course to play for even close that. Everything was in great shape from tee boxes to the greens. Course is short but still tough and requires precise shots even on layups. Played by myself and finished in 2.5 hours. Hardly anyone else playing even on the weekends. It really is a gem! My only complaint were some tee boxes were a little hard and some were too thick. Other than that you really can't beat it.
Scenic view
Nice club house with a beautiful view of the lake. The tight fairways plus small greens made it a challenging course. Most of the bunkers were weedy and all of the greens were very slow and and needed to be rolled. All in all, I thought I received a good value for the money.
Great course
This is a great course with a lot of water challenges and layup or go for it challenges. This is one of my top 3 favorite courses in the upstate midlands areas. I always have a great time.
Thanh Vu
Good for a reasonable price. The course is more challenging.
State owned course
I have always enjoyed playing this course but you never know what condition it will be in.
The cart paths need replacing or just removing. The greens are not in good shape but that has been a continual problem it seems like. They have the best hot dogs around and the club house personnel were friendly. With all of that said, it is still one of my favorite courses in the area and we had to drive 60 miles one way. With the special price we paid there is really no big complaint. Had a nice afternoon playing golf with my son.
Like the course
The fairways were in great condition the greens were decent I just can't stand every time we go there it's cart path only in the court pastor very bumpy and places! Did I say I hate cart path only!!
Great state park course
One of my favorites to play. For the money, this course is awesome. You do NOT want to miss the fairway. There are many rocks and roots about the course. Although the conditions of the course have not always been top notch, it is a good looking course and seems to be in pretty good shape most of the time. Beautiful views on a few holes. A couple of the holes are very challenging, but once adjusted to the course, it is a joy to play every time. Highly recommend this course for someone who is looking for a "bang for the lowest buck" style course with good scenery.
Nice challenge at a state park!
Amazing views of the lake as well as great elevation changes!
Don't let the water fool you !
Keep it down the middle not too tight ,but a lot of trees. There are a lot of up & down hills , greens were fast, but soft .We played a foursome had a great time.Came in with 83 good game for me!
Hickory knob
Friendly staff and excellent location. The course is challenging for all level of golfer.
Value Par none
Pick a Saturday when local NCAAF is playing and you will have a wide open course. Weather was perfect and the course is in good shape. Best value in two states!
Great course to play
Some greens were just recovering from sand over, but still rolled true. Course is always in great shape. Since it borders a lake it can be a bit soggy if it has rained lately. Once you play it you will know those spots and avoid them. Course is not long but does demand accurate ball placement. Go enjoy.
Great layout, greens need more attention.
This would be a 5 star facility if greens were better kept, cut and not as grainy.
First timer, will be back
booked thru golf now, got there early and was told to go when we were ready. the guy at the counter was nice and helpful. course was nice and clean. I was told a few days prior that they had a lot of rain and were trying to catch up on the grass cutting. a few spots where loose grass was around the greens after cutting but not a huge deal. the cart paths are rough and bumpy, just be prepared for that, again not a deal breaker by no means. short but challenging. to score well, pay attention to tee shot distances, not all are grip and rip. we lost cell service (tmobile)so be ready for that.
GREAT course
Nothing negative to say! Amazing from tee box to green and all between!
Great day
I played 2 rounds there this week. Had extremly great time. I wud put this corse up there with one of my top 3 favorites. Staff was very personable. Just a gear place to play. Make sure you book it thru a golf app. I ayes for 8$ and 10$. Go play. You will enjoy.
