Hickory Knob State Park

This would be a 5 star facility if greens were better kept, cut and not as grainy.

booked thru golf now, got there early and was told to go when we were ready. the guy at the counter was nice and helpful. course was nice and clean. I was told a few days prior that they had a lot of rain and were trying to catch up on the grass cutting. a few spots where loose grass was around the greens after cutting but not a huge deal. the cart paths are rough and bumpy, just be prepared for that, again not a deal breaker by no means. short but challenging. to score well, pay attention to tee shot distances, not all are grip and rip. we lost cell service (tmobile)so be ready for that.

I played 2 rounds there this week. Had extremly great time. I wud put this corse up there with one of my top 3 favorites. Staff was very personable. Just a gear place to play. Make sure you book it thru a golf app. I ayes for 8$ and 10$. Go play. You will enjoy.

If you play from the blue tees, this is a good test of hitting accurate shots. Very interesting course of relatively easy holes mixed in with very difficult ones. Only negative about the course is you have to go very slow on cart paths as they are very rough! Beautiful layout with water on several holes.

The course had a good layout. Water view of the lake brings more nice view and challenge to course

The only problem was the pace of play. They make everyone tee off from number 1 instead of sending some off of 10.

The course was well worth the value. Although the course is a hour outside of Augusta, it is worth the trip to play it. The Lake comes into play on numerous holes which puts a premium on club selection, both off the tee and for approach shots regardless of the Tee box you play from. The fairways were in excellent shape, the greens were a bit furry but consistent. The fairways have either the lake on one side or are tree lined, which makes finding the fairway a must. I would definitely recommend playing this course. The State Park also has cabins and a lodge with a restaurant along with 2 additional courses within 15 minutes of the park,which makes the course/park a great option for a weekend outing with your group.

Overall, the course was in good shape. However, the greens were a bit hairy and soft. Even a 10 foot putt had to be putted at almost twice the power because of the condition of the greens.

The greens are slow but this is a pretty challenging course right along the lake. Plenty of water in play and a lot of elevation changes, it is well worth the money

Other then the greens were aireated it was great!!

Course was in great shape for the time of year and weather (mist/rain and below avg. temps). For the first time playing it was challenging figuring out where you needed to play your tee shots, but the challenge and the layout made it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the course based on the scenery, challenge, and value for your money.

very nice course challenging lots of water and tight fairways not overly long would highly recommend

Experienced 11 holes of very reasonably paced play then caught up to group that had started 40 minutes before our group of 3. Pace of play slowed so badly that we only played 2 more holes and gave up.
Staffer in Pro Shop did not appear to be very computer savvy and took some time to find our, admittedly "last minute", Tee reservation and then let us know that he thought the courses arrangement with Golf Now was a bad idea and costing course more that any benefit received.
We will continue to attempt to play this course in the future as it is one of few public and affordable courses in area that we visit a couple of times a year.

Beautiful setting around the lake. The course is still dormant and should be a joy to play when everything is back in bloom. Has great potential. Plays long uphill on quite a few holes.

The green's need a lot of work. I had multiple previous cups in my lines. Impossible to make any putts over five feet.

Recently played so if you are headed out after a few days of rain then be careful of the mushy terrain. I played last year in September and when the green grass is dry it is a beautiful course. That being said the $12 on golfnow for a Saturday with cart was well worth it even with the moderate mushy terrain.

This is a beautiful course. Very challenging holes. Greens were not in the best shape. Over all experience was fair.

Staff was super friendly and informative. Overall course was in good shape but the previous days of rain made it cart path only! Pace of play was 3:45 for 2 golfers. I'd go back!
