Hickory Knob Golf Course

Played in December. Lake is down. Would be a very scenic course in Spring or Summer. Back nine is better than the front. We will be back

Glad we played the course, disappointing in the condition of the course. Bunkers unplayable and soggy. But fairways were great. But I thought the course was going to be amazing and high end, it was not.

Sand traps are in really bad shape. Tee boxes are level, but hit or miss on condition. Greens are very sandy and speed varies from green to green. They rolled smooth, but speed varies based on amount of sand, grass. Fairways and rough were excellent. Still a lot of downed trees in the woods. Played in just over 2 hours. Only 8 cars in the parking lot at 2:30.

My wife and I wanted to play a course near us that we Haven’t played so we chose Hickory knob based on others reviews. First, the staff in the pro shop was great. Very friendly and hospitable. After that, it went downhill fast. The condition of the driving range was 2/10. The practice green 3/10. The carts old and don’t appear to be very well maintained. (Check to make sure your parking brake works before going out). The layout of the course is challenging. The tee boxes and Greens are terrible. I would have rather putted on freshly punched and sanded greens.

They would have been smoother and faster. The only positive was the senior rate was only $35.

I drove an hour and half to play this course after a friend said it was very nice. When I arrived I made my way over to the pro shop to pay. That portion of the course was courteous, but what followed was terrible. I bought a small bucket for the range and could not believe the condition of the range. Total range area was maybe ten yards wide with terrible grass holes and sand everywhere. I made my way up to the practice putting green only to find out it was in awful shape as was the range. I was so bummed out on the condition of the course that I drove my golf cart to my truck and drove home. I didn't try and see if I could get my green fee returned, I didn't care I just wanted to leave. I would never have anyone I know who enjoy golf to return to this course EVER. It would require a major overhaul to even pass as a mediocre city municipal course. Good luck folks I hope you can keep this course open for business with the terrible conditions.

It was a pretty good round of golf. Pretty hot weather which I like. The pace of play was slower just because I was playing with a group of guys and I was the odd man out. Staff was very friendly, course was in good condition from previous times I’ve played this course. I would play more if it was closer to this course.

It was a nice layout. A course you need to play a couple of times to really know how to play it. Not a course where you tee up driver and let it fly. It is very undulating with quite a few doglegs. You must be able to place your ball here. I had a lot of fun playing here! Love being by the lake and playing up and down the hills.

Course is in great shape, no cart refreshments here so you need to stock up before the round and at the turn.

Love Georgia state park golf courses! We had a blast!

This is a great course. The opening holes that go along the lake are amazing and the breeze keeps it nice and cool. Each hole is unique and offers a different type of challenge. You have to contend with water, sand and big elevation changes. I can’t wait to go back and play it again what a value so much fun!
