Worth the trip
Course was not crowded but pace was a little slow. Greens were decent but slow. Beautiful layout and terrain. Some very different holes. Will continue to make the trip and play 2-3 times a year.
To be a state course it was embarrassing
The greens were not good the fairways were fair tee boxes not good , the layout is fantastic, I don't think our tax dollars are being used at all on this site!
Good Course, But...
Hickory Know is a good course. It has a variety of holes that range in difficulty from easy to very hard. I have 2 bones to pick with Hickory Knob: 1) when I was there this past week, the greens had been worked on and were not in good shape. They were bare in some places and very bumpy in others. 2) No. 4 requires an uphill drive and then a downhill approach to a green requiring a forced carry. The fairway is mown so tightly that a drive that gets to the downhill slope with any velocity will not stop short of the pond. Bad design and maintenance.
Greens need a lot of work
I played this course alot this was my first time playing this year 80%of the greens had no grass just patches they were not fun putt on . The course also needs a Marshall to move pace of play their was 3 drunks holding up the play they were playing so slow and obnoxious
Very nice course. Challenging with lots of water. Heavy rains had made water areas larger than normal.
Great layout!
Course was recovering from high lake level and rain. Greens were aerated and hard to read. Really a well layer out course and lots of fun. Would like to play again when course not affected by high lake level.
Great course
We played twice this course
Challenging and great
Pace of play was very slow on the Sunday but this is normal as family day
We will return any time
Wet course
Cart path only and greens are slow. Probably why only a few of us on the course.
Awful greens
Several years ago the course was in excellent condition, but today the course was in poor condition at best. Range had no grass. Greens were sandy, bumpy, slow, and only had patches of grass. Tee boxes were not good either. Layout of the course is great. but the course needs serious attention and should close down until they make some improvements to the condition.
Lost balls
Great weather! Course was in decent shape... too many leaves on the 2nd cut, caused balls to be lost multiple times.
Good but could be better
The staff was great. The pro shop pricing was great. The course layout was great even though some of the fairways can be a little narrow. My biggest issue was it had entirely to much debris on the greens. We had to clean almost every one to be able to putt. The grounds keepers should blow them off more often.
Gorgeous Course!
A solid 9/10... couple rough spots, but greens were perfect. Traps not take, but who hits into them anyways. Played from the tips, challenging par 3s, a few long par 4s and a beast of a par 5 in #10. And the views! Wow! Would go back in a heartbeat, can't beat the price. Went off early, played in 3 hours... looks like it gets busy after 11am.
Awesome condition at 100 degrees heat index
This course is a hidden gem , 2 Savannah Lakes courses nearby are not in near the condition, the new golf course superintendent definitely has made a difference!! Pro shop personal so polite friendly and helpful!!!!! Can’t wait to play again soon .. nice to see drinking water on the course , some new concrete golf cart paths !!!! Thanks for providing a nice outing
From central Fl.
A friend recommended the course to us and we came here to try it it. Camped at Hawe Creek and played here for the first time. The staff was outstanding, since the back was being worked on she suggested we play the front, go to lunch and play the back. It worked out great. Course typical SC., dog legs, up and downs and great fairways. The greens were a little stressed and holes a bit rough on the edges but I would come back in a heart beat. Also great water crossings.
