Play this course every year. This was the best condition I have ever seen it.

This was a great bang for the buck. Fairways. , layout and greens were very good. The only negative was no place to have a nice meal

Course was the epitome of average.

The Good: Decent layout. Fairways and roughs were fine. I really liked the carts and all the storage they had. Staff was helpful and enthusiastic.

The Bad: The greens were SO SLOW. I cant explain it. It was like putting in the fairway or on shag carpet. It was nearly unplayable. Greens were also small. Bunkers were bad and no rakes. We had a 5some ahead of us that slowed our duo play.

We paid $59 for two to ride. Not awful. But certainly not worth any more than that.

My wife and I played the course for the first time. The staff was very friendly. Although it was busy we in less than 4 hours. The greens were in good shape, the tee boxes were in fair shape. We would definitely play this course again. .

First impressions are everything when it comes to a great experience, and the staff at River Oaks nailed it! Complementary bag grabbers had the cart and clubs ready after I parked and friendly clubhouse staff were extremely knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. Excellent driving range. They have gas carts, which in my opinion are better than electric. The course itself is in great shape. Twenty seven holes available, split into 3 nines. I played the “Bear” and “Fox” nines. The greens were excellent. The course also was not really wet at all for it having rained the two previous days. Also Military/Veteran friendly!

Nice course for seniors from the gold tees. Fairways are mostly ideal and the greens are smooth but a little slow for my taste. The only negative are the cart paths. They are extremely rough as well as the adjacent areas. Definitely need work.

My two sons and I played there and everything was awesome! Course was in great shape and staff was great!

We played the Bear course (holes 19-27) and then Fox (1 - 9). I had only played Bear one other time. It seemed like there were a lot of little water hazards - swamps, small ponds, etc. I lost 2 balls at hole 7 (25) which had the pond wrapping around the front of the green.

The sand traps on Hole 1 were like cement. Since I have a penchant for sand I then roughed up the hard sand and dropped my ball to try to replicate a real sand shot.

The course was dry, but the greens and fringes were lush.

I'm writing this review because I just saw a price of $49 for this course, and I thought, whoa, I need to write a review. First of all, and let's get this out of the way up front, this is a $25 course. The folks in the Pro Shop seem a bit confused. They didn't tell me or my playing companion where to Tee off from (27 holes) so we drove out to the #1 Tee and started playing. About half way through management comes riding up on a cart and tells us we're on the wrong 9. We need to move to another. OK, we did that. It was not a great way to start, and could have been avoided if the Pro shop had done their job and told us where to start play from. Second, the grass was so long I lost balls right in the fairway. Guys, you run a golf course. Ever heard of a lawn mower? I highly recommend you check them out. Third, the cart paths are extremely broken up. So folks naturally don't use them, and end of driving all over the grass. Here's a suggestion. Just pull up the broken paths. People are driving on the grass anyway, and it's smoother than your awful cart path. Lastly, on the negative side, they tried to jack me up on my green fees on the basis that I'm not a local. No dude, I only own a house in Myrtle Beach and have owned it for over 20 years, but I'm not a local. What do I need to get a locals discount? A SC drivers license. BS! That entire "let's charge them more because they aren't locals" to me is illegal and discriminatory. Luckily, sites like GolfNow are putting an end to that nonsense. You just book on line. On the plus side, this isn't a bad $25 course. The 9 holes they try to get everyone to play are super easy and not a lot of fun, but the rest of it isn't bad at all. If you can play it for $25 with a cart, I would recommend it IF THEY HAVE CUT THE GRASS YET, which is doubtful. $35 on up is a complete joke. it's not worth it at all. There are way too many good courses you can play for another $5 on top of that. Anything in the middle, it's your call, but I wouldn't (and don't) do it.

Played the Fox and Otter courses with my wife and two of our adult daughters, including a beginner. There were other families on the course, no single digit handicappers, and we didn’t feel rushed. The courses were challenging enough and in good condition, a great value. I wouldn’t come back on a guys golf trip, for example, but this was a great choice for our family.

The greens are in very good shape bug the rest of the course is very dry and lacking in a lot of grass. Looks like it is burned and lacking water, and it’s only May. But the price was very reasonable and my wife and I enjoyed the pace of play.
