Greens are in great shape
The greens were the truest and quickest I have played here. Hoping you can keep it going all winter!
Good Value
Played Robbers Row for the 2nd time, and the 1st in about 10 years today, and was pretty pleased with the round. First, I got a deal on golfnow for $61. I think the current rack rate is $95 before noon and $65 after noon. The staff was extremely friendly. The course was in good shape. Most tee boxes were chewed up, and it seemed like the markers needed to be moved. However, fairways were good, and the greens were outstanding. Smooth and quick and true. The layout is pretty tight on most holes. And the greens are very small and undulating. There is some water in play. Seems like 2 or 3 of the par 3s required forced carries over water. There were several other holes with water in play. On alot of these holes there was a bailout to one side of the water, but that area was usually really tight. All in all, a pretty good course for the average golfer, and a good value with the hot deal I got. I dont know if I would think the same if I had paid $95, but def worth the afternoon rates. I would go again for sure.
Great!
The staff were great the conditions were great the price was great! Totally recommend
It was good
Overall a good course, but this was my issue. It had rained over the last couple of days, so it was cart path only, and you only let members walk, everyone else is required to take a cart. Wouldn't it make sense to lift the rule when it is cart path only, it would actually speed up pace of play.
Great But....
The course was a great layout. The boxes and fairways were a little bit beat up. greens we're great.overall a great value and experience. Only feedback I would give, need more tee boxes . We had a woman who was hitting straight balls for 75 to 100 yards. Her husband 150 from the senior. Problem was a a average distance between white tees and theirs was 30-40 yards at most. She commented multiple times that there was no advantage for her an her husband. They're short game was good and they were obviously quality golfers. We were following two women and they seemed to hit the ball well, but again without an advantage we were waiting throughout. Not their fault. A couple of times they picked up and drop further down to keep up the pace. Adding a fifth forward box would help move the game faster and not frustrate the fairway golfers who no longer hit as far as they used to.
Unexpected round was great
We chose to move our Wednesday round due to expected rain on Thursday. Found this course and gave it a try. Glad we did. Course in good condition. Seemed to be a popular group of courses. On our radar for future trips,
Long time ….
Hadn’t played Port Royal in quite a long time… and still remembered most of the holes. Had a great time, played on pace and we’re paired with a lovely Canadian couple… would play again when I can. Thx Port. Royal staff, inside and out!!!
Pace of Play Brutal
Played Barony last year and it was great. Was looking forward to Robber’s Row this year but the pace of play not only was frustrating and annoying, but it was impossible to get a full round in. I teed off at 1:20. At 5:30 we still had 4 holes to play. Couldn’t see anything and rode in.
Very disappointed.
