This is a beautiful mountain golf course. Challenging as almost any golf course will be. Cart paths need to be redone, but overall a great course for any golfer.
Very challenging course
Played course two years ago and conditions have deteriorated. In particular, the greens look like they have been attacked by some kind of fungus(?) and are patchy and not in good condition. I know they have been aerated but that is not the problem. We heard there is a different management company than the ones that were in charge two years ago. Present management seems over zealous in using cart path only and that made 5+ hour rounds for our foursome on carts.
Challenging
Fun course to play. It can be challenging if you are not familiar with the course. There are some holes on the back nine that have blind shots on lay ups. Would go back and play again.
Great Course In The Mountains
We have played at Bent Creek several times, but lately I have noticed some big changes. The staff all the way down to the food. The course was getting pretty beat up in spring, but through the summer I have seen a dramatic change in the conditions. Greens were a little rough, but the pro shop guy explained they had a new greens keeper and he is working very hard on getting them back to great shape. When we arrived at the pro shop, we were greeted with a smile and some light jokes from a big guy (No name badge) working in there. VERY FRIENDLY! He said good morning and welcomed us to the golf course. Rang us up, told us where to go (not knowing we played here quite often) to get carts. My husband forgot his PW and (call him big guy) pro shop attendant let him use his personal PW. Very thoughtful. Cart attendant got us loaded and we went on the play 18 holes. Creekside clerk greeted us and we ate a couple of over-priced but wonderful hot dogs. Gnats were the only complaint, but.....HELLO, WE ARE IN THE MOUNTAINS! What do you expect. Several people have complained about Gnats, but think about it......Mtns....Camping....bug spray. Use your common sense people, stop leaving that at home while on vacation!
Greens need work
I'm from West Tn and the greens there are primarily Bermuda and in perfect condition. This course has a very bad layout but for the money I suppose it was worth it. The greens were not cut well, slow, and burnout. Has really good view if you care more about that than play. But as I scratch golfer i would prefer to play somewhere else.
greens
since my last review the greens have improved immensely.the greens fairways and rough looked great. this course is a joy to play this time of year.
condition
nice course love the layout. flat in the front target golf on the back nine. course has a few issues with greens but overall good condition.
Challenging back 9
This course is great! The front 9 are just a simple warm up for the back 9. Had a huge all beef hot dog at the half in the screened porch grill they have. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Left my wedge on a green and Dave McCowan, (management?) called to let me know he had it and would hold it until I could get back. I really appreciate that. Will be there this week to play again. Can't wait!
middle of nowhere
the course was challenging. greens were pretty good. fairways were great. if you have never played their before it would be good to play wih somebody that knows the course.so they can tell you to lay up or go for it. many ditches that go back and forth but don't know the distances to them.i recommend this course great course for the money
Bent Creek Golf Course
Overall the conditions were good on the course except that some of the greens need work, some had bare spots on them, the snacks are very high, $2.99 for a soda (Coke) $4.99 for a hot dog. The back nine requires good placement of the shots or one can get in very bad positions and water hazards.
Great course for the money.
Greens weren't in great shape but were playable. Nice course with lots of water. Definately a great value.
Beautiful course
Easy an beautiful front nine. Little harder back nine. But even prettier. Really enjoyed it. Very nice people. :)
Great value
Great value, beautiful view , challenging the greens need little more care but over all good
good challenge, greens need some help
The course itself was very interesting. Many different looks from tees and approach shots.
Greens were fairly slow, I am not sure if it was the recent weather, or time of year, but probably half the speed of average courses.
Clubhouse staff was extremely courteous and helpful.
Fun back nine
Good golf option while in the Smokies! I would't drive a long distance to golf at Bent Creek. The back nine was r favorite and would be more fun the second time played.
The back nine was very fun
The food was a bit over priced 9 dollars for a hotdog and a drink. The course played well. Would play again. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Score card have hints as to how and where to place shots.
very nice layout with creek running though the course
great course will play it again when in gatinburg front 9 is flat back 9 hilling with some blind shots
Gnats Glaore
The gnats were so bad on the entire course that concentrating on a shot.was impossible. Not an enjoyable day. Besides the gnats--this course has NO drinking water, NO ball washers, NO yard signage at the tees, and greens were in very poor condition. You will be better off to play elsewhere!
Two putt rule
This course is very challenging and enjoyable until you reach the greens. It was like trying to putt on Velcro . They are in really bad shape. It has nice views and some fun holes. In retrospect we got what we paid for.
Poor shape
I wouldn't pay $10 to play this course the greens are horrible the course is covered in fruit flies due to all the duck feces and the food is way too expensive...If you are in the area do yourself a favor and play at Gatlinburg Golf course or Sevierville trust me Bent Creek is a rip off
