Very good course
Very fun course. Back 9 is very fun going up and down the mountain. Can’t wait to play again.
Good greens
The putting greens were receptive, quick, and rolled true.
So much fun
Beautiful day, beautiful golf course, friendly staff!
Coarse was in good shape.
Front 9 greens were fast back 9 were alot slower. Did have an issue with booking as the clubhouse added a person to my group and tried to force someone to pay again. The snack bar area only had basis snacks and no food of any kind available. Drink prices were average to most other courses. Clubhouse was stocked with a variety of apparel/accessories, shoes, clubs and balls.
No Driving Range
The only downside is no driving range. Other than that amazing course.
Under construction
The course was aerated about 3 weeks ago and haven''t
healed yet. They are replacing the fringe around the greens (seams between pieces of sod make the fringe not puttable). When the maintenance is complete and healed up, it should be one of the better courses around again.
Locals review!
The course is good when it’s properly maintained, currently either due to weather or poor maintenance the fairways are very thin and just dirt in some spots. Mostly on the front 9, the back 9 seems to be in better shape Mostly due to not being lowland where it retains all water. In the summer when fairways are full and greens have healed it’s a good course. But suggest waiting till mid or end of June for the price they charge.
Course deteriorates in the winter and had very little grass except in the rough and on the greens.
I played this course several years at least once a week and sometimes twice but the price was raised until it became too expensive for someone on social security, The fairways were in poor condition, mostly dirt. Work was underway and will improve in 4-6 weeks.
Fun design; tough conditions in off-season
I enjoyed my round and intend to play here in the future. There are several interesting hole designs and in general the green maintenance was good. I did go at the end of the offseason and was informed by the staff that the course does not drain very well so the day I played had a lot of mud and a lot of wind. Looking forward to playing it in better conditions during the summer.
Dormant
Must have gotten a lot of rain in the last few days before we played. Fairways were dormant, to be expected, and very wet. Greens rolled great for it to be February. Front 9 is very flat, wide open with chances to score. Back 9 is a bit more tight.
Slow slow slow
No ranger anywhere, so staring was a nightmare. It was a busy day, but I was playing alone and skipped around because the group in front of me was falling behind and had zero sense of urgency. I quit after 6 holes because it had already been 2 hours since teeing off. When I drove back to the club house I passed the group that was 2 groups ahead of me and it was a 6-some with 4 carts. I watched all of them tee off twice, finally got around them to leave and noticed there wasn't another group in front of them for at least 2 holes. Not sure why management let's 6-somes play on the busiest day they've probably had in over a month. Luckily I got a really cheap tee time or I would have asked for my money back. Won't be returning to Cattails anytime soon.
Greens could have been better.
The greens had a decent pace, but they were in need of being rolled to smooth them. Our foursome had several putts that hopped and lost their line or pace while rolling toward the cup.
