Worth the Price of Admission
Very affordable and pace of play was excellent. Encountered a few groups as a twosome, but were quickly allowed to play through. The greens are a little grainy, but the overall condition of the course is the best it has been in more than a few years. You will not be disappointed.
Great condition. Fun course
Flying L has become a great destination for golf. The conditions are as good or better than any other course in the area. The cost is EXTREMELY reasonable.
Best in years
I have played course since 99 but have never seen course in this good shape. The greens especially are far better now than any experience in the past. Management have either cut down trees or trimmed the tress that were making some holes unfair for the average player. But you still have to be straight because OB is everywhere.
Keeps getting better!
Third time playing and it was a perfect day. Early afternoon and finished in 3-1/2. No pushing, wide open play, yet challenging for all levels of golfers. Wildlife views are abundant, nothing like seeing deer and offspring all over. Definitely will be back soon!
Great value, views, and fun.
This course is not as easy as it may look at first glance. Very challenging tee shots. Some greens are spotty on a few holes but most are in good shape. There are some really outstanding views all over the course. Worth the drive from San Antonio.
Good times!
Outstanding crew. With the rain the course is making a good come back.
Good Value
Great value for the money. Nice drive out to the hill country and the views from the course are great. Conditions made it challenging. Scattered showers and strong winds on the back nine. There was a tournament going on so pace of play was slow but I was not in a hurry. Front 9 was crowded but back was better til 15. Nice easy layout but weather conditions make it challenging.
Average Course
I don't see my see myself coming back. although it was not crowded at all, the roughs were dirt and rock. This made the course narrow at some points. A lot of the holes are blind so you have to go off the score, which is fine except the yardage markers are wrong. I would hit a driver on a par 3 and not make the green. This course is lined with houses but they are not right on the course. I wished other courses would set the house off the course like this course. The only narrow part do to houses was hole 8 which also requires that you hit across an open road. No the best design here. The greens were the worse part of the course. They are nothing but sand. So basically you have a 50ft sand trap to put in. I understand they were maintaining the grass but too much sand. The other issue is that several times I would have locals that like on the course be chipping and putting. The would be standing near the green while you hit. I have never seen this on any course. They walked out their back down and just helped themselves to the course while I was trying to play.
Sunday afternoon
Pace of play was unacceptable on back nine. A few greens needed work and the bunkers lack sand.
Easter Weekend Review
$15 round.
Arrived a little late and the staff was very accomodating. Played 18 holes in 2.5 hours, great place of pay. Fairways are in good condition and the greens are in so so condiditon , not bad, just not great. Excellent service and facilities.
Bandera
The greens are in bad shape, not much grass left after the winter weather
Great course great mid week value.
I've played on Flying L about 5 times now. I find the overall play of the fairways to be challenging to a degree especially the doglegs. The par 5s are just long enough to allow a solid hitter a chance to birdie the hole. I'm just an below average golfer but I really enjoy The Flying L . I moved here from Vancouver British Columbia Canada where golfing is a seasonal sport. The courses here are very reasonably priced, more bang for your buck. I will plan on playing more golf here and The Fyling L will always be my first choice. Be able to book tee times on my I phone is extremely easy and very convenient, Bravo good job .
Golf Now Flying L
Great deal from Golf Now.
Course was in good shape. A couple of greens were a little rough.
Rate of play was leisurely but still finished in 4 hours. We were never pushed or rushed.
I will select a mid day Tee time again at this course.
Peaceful
I think this is the first time in years I've had a round that peaceful. Beautiful landscape in the hill country. Great value. Perfect for a weekend golf!
Not bad...definitely worth the money
Fairways are average for south Texas. Greens were better than average. Nice scenery in the hill country. An hour drive from SA but a nice drive.
Average Texas course.
Average course for Texas. Is the best of only two courses in the area. Is fun, not difficult for the average golfer. Fairways are pasture grass and the greens are whatever grass mowed short for decent roll. Would only play the course booking tee time with Golf Now, otherwise it's too little for the money.
Great escape!
Always love getting away from the big city and heading out to beautiful Bandera! This course keeps things interesting and is great for getting away from the crowds. It's always in decent shape and the staff is super friendly. Great value!
Greens are in great shape but warning very fast
The greens were in excellent condition. Very fast. There are trees being removed on the 4th hole. In time the green will be more accessible. The oak trees being removed guarded this green and getting to the the green is difficult.
Great Course for the Money
I have always liked this layout! Found a special deal while my son was home from college. Great Time with my boys. The course was in Great Shape considering the time of year.
Highly Recommended!
Scenic drive
It's not close to town, but it's a nice drive to take in order to save some money. Course is fair and challenging and taken care of. Good course if you want to head out to play some golf and enjoy the emenities of a small town. Maybe make a weekend out of it.
