Update - Course Under Some Construction
Overall, the course is one of the better ones in the. San Antonio area but this is now the third time I have had a tee time in the middle of a major tournament this slowing play and causing a parking nightmare. The starter could not even tell us what our two nines were going to be. So I had to break my round into two nines vs 18 on my Arccos app.
The greens and tee boxes are starting to show the signs of being burned and crabgrass coming up on the tee boxes. Most of the tee boxes needed to be mowed as they were a bit shaggy.
The greens needed to be rolled because they were extremely slow. The bunkers were in decent shape on the lakes and oaks.
The driving range is destroyed due to construction so there warm up area is a cart drive / shuttle away. Irons only too. The grassy area was pretty chewed up too. On the plus side there is a cold water jug down there to refill a water bottle. The shuttle drivers are a hoot but plan for an extra five to get down there and then back. They had a shuttle driver down there so you did not have to wait.
Overall still not a bad place to play if you can get a GolfNow hot tee time. I don’t know that I would pay full rack price though.
Many greens in bad shape and range is under repair
No where near worth$145 , I’m sure if they get the course in shape would be better , signs to proper course and tee box confusing
Course needs TLC
Range under renovation, several greens in bad shape , signs are small and easy to get lost trying to find tee blocks for each course, Staff was cordial and honestly had a public course feel. Shame on them charging this amount. Worth about $45 for a round until course gets TLC.
Disappointed
Was in San Antonio on business and had some time before my flight so decided to get in a round. I booked this course based on on-line reviews and, unfortunately, walked away disappointed. The staff couldn't have been nicer but from the start this course was underwhelming.
The driving range was in terrible condition...my local muni devotes more time and attention to theirs than this track. I hit a few balls and decided to get the round going.
Arrived at first tee and the box was in poor shape, as was the immediate vicinity...definitely not manicured and, unfortunately, a sign of things to come. 100% of the greens were super slow for putting, whether above or below the hole and many of the greens had brown spots/damage. There was also construction going on which, had I known, would have lead me to pass on playing a I really hate playing with temporary fencing etc. visible. I get it that work has to be done but there should be plenty of notice afforded to ensure transparency.
The course layout was great with plenty of challenge but the overall lack of TLC made this a disappointing and utterly forgettable experience.
The greens were recently aerated and sanded but nothing alerted when I booked on golf now. The big complaint is pace of play. They are hosting junior golf event the next day so kids were playing their practice round. No notice when I booked or when I arrived at the course.
Oaks/ Creek - very good layout - greens not so much!
Played the Oaks /Creek at Hyatt Hill Country and had a mixed bag of experiences! First the shop guys , the pro ( Joey ) and the starters were all top shelf ! Friendly , helpful , just good down to earth people ! However , when you walked out to the practice area , it looked like it hadn’t been watered for a year ! Once on the course, the fairway conditions were very good but the greens were VERY slow and bumpy ! The layout is really nice , the carts have GPS and course maps which is a big help ! Once they get the greens back in shape I could easily give this 4 stars !
Not a fan
I understand it’s hot. The heat probably makes it impossible to keep the course alive. But the course was in really bad condition…. Especially the greens. It was not worth what I paid…
And it cost $21 just to park onsite! That part was never mentioned that I could see.
I won’t go back I don’t think.
Watch for tournaments at course.
3-9hole courses. When i arrived. Was told i was playing same 9 twice due to tournament. I called ahead twice to confirm tee time. No disclosure of the tourney to me. I will say Joey from pro shop took care of me though. Thank You Joey. Next day played the other 9’s. Hot but enjoyable. Enjoyed my foursome!
Hard grounds
Course has a good layout and not a high grade of difficulty. Most difficult part is dealing with the very hard grounds, from fairways, to around the greens. Your clubs will bounce off the ground. Lots of chip-and-run instead of pitching. There seems to be plenty of water around, don’t know why grounds are not better.
Fun course
Great course a little challenging but I’m also not very good so there is that. Overall course was in great shape.
Play this course ASAP
What a treat to play, this course is spectacular The only downside to yesterday was getting there an hour early and being told that the driving range was closed. But the guy allowed me to get out early and I got paired with some very nice gentlemen. This is one of the best public golf courses I’ve ever played, and I can’t wait to play it again.
Good resort course experience
Nice layout. Course in decent shape. Greens only fair. Very grainy. Overall well run operation.
