Fun course!
Lighthouse is back! Springtime troubles with the greens are over and the course is in great condition. Greens are back to rolling nice and smooth and the fairways were excellent (at least the few that I was able to hit). They always have friendly service and yesterday was no exception. I love the variety of the course layout. It's always a challenging, yet fun round. Definitely recommending to all my golfing buddies!
New greens! Beautiful course.
Mid-to-low price for the area, this course is beautiful. 18 holes with sand and water and the course is in great condition. They had struggled over the last year to get their greens back in shape. They did a fantastic job at that!
I'm adding them to the regular rotation.
Summertime golf
This is a great little course and one of our favorites (wife and I play together) as it’s not long and there are few carries over water for her.
A few of the greens are under repair so if you’re shooting for scores it’s lacking. If you want an enjoyable round without big crowds and pushy players this is for you.
The Lighthouse
The course is beautiful overall. The fairways are in excellent condition. The Greens are getting better, but still going to take a little while to get them where they need to be. I will continue to play this course.
A good day!
Staff was great. I broke 100 for the first time! There were 3 holes on the front 9 that had temporary greens and understand the club is working to resolve. Great layout. I had a good day.
Relaxing pace of play
We enjoyed a great round at a relaxing and leisurely pace of play and plan to return.
Needs a lot of work
3 temporary greens and most of the rest in bad shape. To be fair the Texas weather this spring has been very difficult. One odd situation, there was a twosome in front of us, 2 guys and a tiny CHILD! They had strapped a car seat to the side of the golf cart. But the kid was running around the whole time. One of the guys was wearing construction boots and a sleeveless tee shirt. Get the picture?
Give it time
Lighthouse is the best course in the hill country, which is why I give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, they are going a through a rough patch with the greens, and have been since the freeze in 2020. Essentially every green on the front 9 is affected / unplayable, and half the ones in the back have an intrusion in your putting lie.
IMO, they should close the course for 6-12 months to get it back to its once glory, but understand why they can’t do that. Fairways are in great shape and tee boxes are fine as always, but I feel sad that people come here expecting the greens of old, and aren’t getting that, and write off the course completely. The greens that are good are fuzzy and don’t get the traditional lighthouse speed.
Management, would strongly consider a temporary closure to get it back. I know the greens “take” to higher heat, but with a touch up, and time off, let’s get this place back to where it was. Then work on the clubhouse / amenities to get it to a hangout spot at least for food like Delaware Springs is.
Greens under renovation
Course was in good shape except for the greens. Three holes required temporary greens, while others still had bare spots. Otherwise, a good day on the course.
The fairways & T boxes were great!
The greens need a lot of work. Almost impossible to make good putts due to rough, dry dead spots on most of the greens.
If the greens were in a lot better condition, this course would be awesome!
The greens are poor
We love playing at the Lghthouse. The course is so beautiful. The wildflowers are everywhere. The holes are all different and challenging. However, this time there was a problem with the greens. It looks like there has been a disease that has hurt a lot of greens and unfortunately, it’s going to be a while before the greens get back to their normal good condition that they used to be in. It is a shame because this is such a beautiful golf course.
Greens in Terrible Condition
Greens in Terrible Condition. Some greens were so bad the pin was in obscure positions, sometimes only feet from the edge of the green due to the rest of the green being sandy, dry, and no grass. Tee boxes and fairways were fine. Basically every green was horrendous. Like trying to play putt-putt on the moon.
Good but not Great
Overall layout of the course is good, the fairways were in excellent shape. The greens were terrible. Still suffering from the late freeze in 2023 and they appeared to have been recently aereated . LH would be a gem if only for the greens being in poor shape.
