Lotta fun!
The course required thought and good management to score well. Fairways and greens were perfect! I can't wait to play again.
Nice challenging course
The course is in very good condition and quite challenging also from the white tees. The staff is very friendly. Beverage price is quite high (around 4.50 for 20 oz.). The only bad thing were all showers not working due to lack of hot water.
Fun course, greens had recently been aerated but we were pre-warned.
A friend played a tournament here last year and really enjoyed it. The course is not great but fun and well maintained. I would definitely come back and play again!
One of the best
Loved loved loved playing this course. Shot my best score ever, 2 under par. Beautiful place. Will be back often.
Excellent course. Was surprisingly in excellent condition and well maintained.
Realy enjoyed playing this course. It was very hot temperature wise, but no complaints about the course, or layout.
Keep up the great work!!!
convenient location and nice scenic views
I was able to score a tee time for 2:20pm and the rate was $14.50 plus tax on the goldmine website. It normally runs 50 if you are a walk in. Even thought its the dead of summer here in southeast Texas, the heat doesn't bother me when I wanna play golf. In fact the heat seemed to help scare other patrons away because it was pushing 101 degrees out. I really enjoyed having the whole course virtually to myself, not running into a soul and having to wait was a benefit. The fairways were really well kept. The greens were a little slow for my liking(having played woodforest the say before). There were a few areas on some of the greens that need attended to but I figure when the weather switches back over to raining 3 days out of the week, it will improve. If you want a nice course to play with a view of lake conroe in the back ground, then la torretta is your choice. I suggest booking a tee time around 2:30 for the best deals.
The course has great features. Fairways in great shape and greens were nice. Challenging.
I really enjoyed the course. It's challenging and in great condition. I will be back to play again.
Fun challenging course
Course plays much longer than advertised. Must be accurate off the tee. Fairways are pristine, rough penalizing, but greens need some work, too much sand on the greens. There is only one water station on the entire course on 14 so make sure to stock up.
Greens need some love
Course: Great layout and fairways were in good shape, but greens were the worst I have seen in Houston this year (and that is actually saying quite a bit). Also don't love when they cut the rough and leave piles of clippings everywhere - very hard to find your ball if you miss the meat. Layout is fun and a nice combination of fair, but challenging. Experience: staff appeared put-off by our presence - the pro shop employee actually ignored us standing at the desk for a bit and then answered the phone as we were checking in. Bar help was less than friendly. Had to "rent" the cooler for your cart and a six pack and the cooler was $35. Plus there wasn't a drink server on the course on the Saturday before Father's Day (always nice to have when it is 98 degrees outside). Overall: lots of potential, but not worth the drive.
Nice resort course
This is a generally well-maintained resort course winding through houses and lined with huge oak trees. Not a long or difficult course but does have some interesting holes. The course had a couple of spotty greens this week, but that is not typical. I have never seen the course crowded and pace of play was 3.5 hours for our twosome. Overall one of our favorite courses in the Houston area.
Great layout and overall grass
The rough was a little high, making it more challenging. Resident even helped me locate my ball when it went into the rough, which was fine , since I Eagled the par4 at hole 3! The only bad were the few water igloos around. And when I got one around 14, there was barely any left and warm. Will be bringing extra water next time. And that day the sand was drenched and compacted too much (hoping it will be better next time). Really enjoyed the day and challenge. I'll be back!
Good Course Great Value
Coming from Houston I like to play on surrounding courses. I must say I was pleasantly suprised by La Torretta. The fairways are in great condition and narrow. The best choice of the tee box may not be your driver. The scenery is pleasant and quiet. I am suprised not more people play this course. I went out on a Sunday (Memorial Day Weekend) and the course barely had anyone there. The greens could use some tending as half of them are in good condition the other half merely ok. The only other negative is on the back nine the practice range is literally beside the 10th hole with no net separating them, so there are practices balls all over the fairway other than make the drive and be suprised by a very good course.
Definitely a great find
Course was in excellent shape, even on a soggy day after a good rain. Well maintained, pace of play was excellent, never rushed or slowed down at any point. A fun place to play, well designed, and I will definitely be back for more visits!
Some great views. Greens rolled fairly true despite some rough spots.
Played as a twosome from the whites. Nice views and interesting layout that played through a resort community layout. The worst part was playing in the heat, humidity and sunshine of the afternoon. We were also not overly impressed by the $4 beers or the lack of friendliness from the limited contact we had with staff. The greens played well despite some rough areas that could have been in better shape. It wasn't as tight and unforgiving as I was expecting and we were usually able to find our balls fairly quickly when out of the fairway. I did play above my handicap but wasn't too upset with my score for playing it for the first time. The fairways were in fairly good shape. Overall, I did like this course and would have no problem recommending it to others. I thought the value we got using golfnow.com was very good.
Great course
This course was in great shape, the fairways are lush and the rough is the thickest in town which makes it difficult but it's a good thing. The greens are coming along. Still a little early for them
To be in good shape. $25 dollars twilight for this course is a steal.
Very Good Course
We enjoyed the course. Played in the afternoon. It was very humid. Not many golfers on the course at that time of the day.
Lacks Maintenance
Sand traps poor condition; no or little water available on course and what little was available was not cool. Course was closed in the AM for maintenance which was obviously not completely performed.
Fairways and greens in excellent shape, really enjoyed it.
This tree lined course played a little tighter than I remembered as it has been probably 4 yrs since I last played. New owners have the course in really nice shape though, Fairways are like carpet and the greens are in excellent shape as well (looks like they are going thru a transition to summer grass). Overall, I was really amazed at the shape the course was in. One suggestion would be to include a combo set of tees for us soon to be seniors. Alot of 400 yd par 4's from the whites Par 71 , 6600 yds and next set f forward tees are 5900 yd tees. Could use a set that was approx. 6300yds but hey I guess I am being picky (and winey). I will be going back as my buddy and I really enjoyed it.Thanks
addicted!
Love this course. No slow play. Thanks for adding it to Golfnow!
This course is well maintained great views
I am looking forward to playing there again very soon.
