About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Great conditions
Even though the weather has been very hot and dry the greens and fairways were in perfect shape

GolfNow Sucks
After booking and prepaying for 3 golfers for $77 each we arrived at the course and learned it was ladies day. Our female participant in our group would only have paid $36 at the course. Additionally, our senior would have only paid $50 at the course. GolfNow caused us to pay $68 additional. The pro shop advised us that there was nothing they could do to rectify the overcharge and suggested that we make our reservations directly with them in the future. This was good advice I’ll follow from now on.

Bought one token for the range balls. Used my debit card.
Pro shop charged me twice. Left two messages on their voice mail. Never heard from them.
Don't get hosed!

Great course and friendly staff. Course is well maintained, but needs ball washers and more rakes.

Icing on the cake
I was in Galveston to celebrate a birthday; so glad I brought my clubs. Moody Gardens is the best maintained course that I have played to date. Though I am a relatively new golfer, I don't think anyone can find fault in maintenance and aesthetics here. I played only the front 9, and it was on a late Friday afternoon, and hardly anyone was there! I let one guy play though and then I had the holes all to myself with none in sight until approaching the pro shop. Honestly, the solitude put this experience on the all-time favorites list. The course from the ladies' tee boxes was challenging within reason regarding Bunker placement, but I didn't have to go over any water once while the other tee boxes did. There was a fairly steady and strong breeze that would visibly change ball direction while putting, so imagine the effect in flight!

Resort course. 8/1/2023.
Greens - outstanding flawless salt water grass. Can’t say enough of how good.
Fairways excellent and generously wide.
Bunkers average.
WATER WATER EVERYWHERE. Some require carries.
No shade 100 deg. Light wind, no mosquitoes. Hooray.
Next to airport - fun watching touch and go.
Only negative - credit card ONLY. Bag of chips - credit card. Drink - credit card.

A classic Galveston 18 holes
I enjoyed the round. I played the course as a single. It was a good test really hot and the wind was blowing good at least 20mph consistently. A good course to work on course management and my own strategy. Made some progress with my game there. The lines off the tee are demanding but with solid tee shots the approach's are solid, doable, and clear.
