About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

This course is a beauty
Course is in excellent condition. Pace of play was good too. Was very unlucky this time because the play got called off 2/3 way through when thunder storm came in, considering the 85 mile one-way drive i have to make.

Very challenging
The course was in excellent shape, and it was very challenging! The wind plus lots of water combination proved to be tough as I usually shoot in the low 90's. Yea I lost about 8 balls ,but still was able to par the last hole to finish the round. The greens are fast and I can't believe this couse isn't ranked!!

Hit Day
As hot and with the little rain we’ve had the course is in excellent shape but one of the best things about playing there is the breeze. Even with afternoon tee time and 95+ temps still a very relaxing round. Wish it was closer to home so I could play their more.

Great Experience
A friend and I played this yesterday. Was a bit on expensive side for the area as it was a saturday and this is a resort course. Course was in fantastic shape. Greens really without imperfection. Sand in bunkers soft (again for area, maybe not compared to the north). We played with a couple of guys in from Illinois, and they said the greens are hard and fast. But that is S Texas golf in the summer!
Course was windy, which is par for the experience in the 4 or 5 times I've played. The wind makes this average course play as a tougher course for me. I am basically a bogey golfer, so for someone that is better, they might adjust quicker than I do.
Overall a great experience. Haven't had better in the area in the last few weeks (i play about twice a week!)

Nice, but the sand traps suck
Nice fairways, but cut a little too tight especially for the summer in Texas. Traps are skimpy on a vey fine sand, which plays like hardpan for several days following rain. A coarser sand would be better… and not blow away like it tends to now.
Greens good as usual….. with no effort by golfers ( or mgmt) to repair ball marks.
Needs a couple trees ON COURSE for a little shade break.

Moody garden
I drove 4 hr to enjoy the beach area and experience moody gardens with the wife for my bday. I didn't like being paired up with a random person to play and the Marshall wasn't as friendly as I'd like besides that the the guy behind the counter and especially the cart lady made it a great experience. The course was great as well alot of intersting holes but make sure to buy extra balls if your a beginner I'd play again in the future.
