Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Just a great course.
Practice facilities are awesome. The course is in great condition. The greens are true.
A very nice public course.
Fairways are plush. Greens very nice! A very challenging course, especially with the beach winds. Five tee positions to choose from. Highly recommend.
I wish mgmt cared
Plenty of hi HC and tourists play here. There is no effort by mgmt/ marshalls to protect course….. carts are routinely driven near greens, divots are rarely sanded, ball marks on greens are never repaired…. Marshall presence is minimal and nothing is done to correct above poor ettiquette
Windy and Moody
Played Moody Gardens for the 2nd time in 2 years. Very windy but sunny day. Course was very challenging due to wind, water, and layout. It is a good course, especially if you're looking for a challenge. Price was a bit high for the condition of the course. The 1st time I played the course it was in excellent condition due to closure because of the pandemic. This time the course was in fair to good condition. Some greens had blight or fungal rot and some fairways were suboptimal due to amount of play and winter damage. Hopefully, as the spring progresses the fairways will grow-in and the greens will heal. I recommend waiting another month or two to play. Right now, the course is overpriced. Would I play it again? Definitely, but I would wait till May or June unless you're looking for a challenge right now.
Thanks so much for the great 5 star rating!
Must play
Being the "dormant" season on the Gulf Coast, you could never tell while in the fairway. Green are Immaculate, Fast and Fair
Thanks so much for the great rating and review!
Thanks for leaving us a great rating, and we hope to welcome you back soon!
Great preseason tune up
I brought my HS daughter and a friend here on spring break. They are both on the high school golf team “up north” so this was a great tune up. Fast true greens and plenty of challenging and easy holes. Add in the wind and it was a challenge.
Thanks for coming out to play!
Thanks for coming out and leaving us 5 stars!
Best winter greens in Texas
Moody gardens is a great golf experience with fast, true greens and water coming into play on many holes. Differing wind directions make it like playing a different course each time. Many different birds, ducks and cranes make for a great nature walk. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much for the great rating!
Wow Moody Gardens!
I've played this course many times, but less so as their prices have gone up lately. Yesterday, the greens were very good, however the tee boxes were terrible & the fairways just a bit better. I realize this is a challenging time for turf in Texas, but Moody was much worse than any of the other muni's in the area. On top of that, the clubhouse (what there is of it) was closed when we finished at 4PM. Overall very disappointing & we won't be back anytime soon.
If you're thinking of playing there do yourself a favor & head to The Wilderness in Lake Jackson, much better course for similar $
Nice course
Peace of play was a little slow, rental club charge is a little high. But all around decent course.
Thanks for the review!
