About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Always enjoy this public track
You can count in this place being in very good shape (fairways and greens). Bunkers need work. Would be great to see mid-week deals for residents!!

Fun layout and always in great shape. Paspalum grass was awesome! Good change of pace from the usual Bermuda.

Can We Rake A Trap Please?
Greens & turf were great but there wasn't a raked trap in the place. This course is too pricey for traps that look like the Galveston beach. C'mon, you can do better than that!

Good public track
This course is generally in very good shape. The recent hurricane loused up the bunkers and many palms were killed by the winter freeze. Greens and fairways were pretty good!

Fun course and layout
Really enjoyed my first round here. First couple holes allow you to get off to a good start then the course character starts to come in. The front and back are completely different but If you can keep it in play you have a chance to score here. Look forward to playing again.

Great day!
No issues. Was not really crowded, pace of play was great. A single joined our threesome on the 3rd hole and that created the perfect pace to keep us from another foursome that were just ahead of us. The Marshal / starter was very nice and told us there wasn’t anyone teeing off for a while to just take our time. Course was in magnificent shape as usual with sand trap work going on, so the traps weren’t great but that is to be expected from time to time.

Would like more direction on tee boxes and they are working on bunkers!

Great value
This course was in great condition. We were impressed by the greens. Our round was on a Tuesday afternoon with open holes in front of our group and no one behind us. Could not ask for a better experience.

Best Course in Galveston
One of the nicest, cleanest courses I’ve played on. Staff is friendly and food is top tier at pelican grill ! I’ll be back moody ! Thanks for the awesome round !

Don’t EVER prepay - staff will allow for NO flexibility
I would say I enjoyed the course (who wouldn’t, it’s golf) but when one of our three players had to back out due to personal reasons, the pro shop staff wouldn’t even consider working with me on the prepaid greens fee. Basically told me he didn’t have to, as he “hadn’t had a chance to sell the other spot” if I wouldn’t have prepaid or given them more notice. Note: there were very limited number of golfers on the course and no one in line when I check in. So good job Moody Gardens, you got 1 green fee, but cost yourself 3 lifetime golfers.
