Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Unique and very fun.
Fun course with a very diverse collection of holes. The conditions were superb and so was the service and pace of play. Highly recommended.
Challenging but Great Golf Course
Four of us played using a discounted price found on this site. I hadn’t played this course since it was the old Galveston Municipal Golf Course many eons ago. Man, what a difference. The fairways and greens were almost immaculate – a true “resort type” of quality. Very challenging, especially with all the water and the prevailing winds. I would definitely play this course again at the discounted price.
Greens and fairways were in great shape. One of the best public courses in the region
Dag Nabit!
I will continue to play this course until I beat it! It always get the best of me. Great track and excellent conditions!
Moody Gardens, Galveston Texas
With out a doubt, Moody Gardens was one of the most well maintained courses I have ever played. Watch out of Hole 18!!!!!!
Best kept secret
One of the best conditioned courses in the Houston area BAR NONE... Played the course 30 days apart and was blown away both times. Tees, Fairways and Greens were top notch condition...
Challenging but playable
First time playing here and will definitely be back. The course is challenging but playable with lots of hazards that are avoidable. The greens are a little bumpy-It looks like they were recently seeded but they were beautiful. The pace was perfect, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was well worth the hour drive down the Blue Water Highway and am looking forward to playing here again soon.
Unique Texas Treasure
A very unique course for Texas. Palm trees and water on almost every hole. Challenging but not too tough for higher handicappers. The greens had been recently aerated and were a little sandy but still rolled very well. A great getaway while visiting the Texas coast.
just happened to be there right after the greens were punched. With that said they were still better then most in the area.
sanding the greens
back 9 had the greens sanded and watered (made mud) could not putt so quite. No notice of sanding was present but should be ok in a few days
Perfect conditions!
The course was much easier today because the wind was down and temps were perfect. Greens were a tad bit slower in the afternoon. I am sure they were quicker in the morning rounds but they still rolled true.
Nice course
Course was in great condition, especially the greens. I was lucky enough to play when it wasn’t windy, but my score didn’t reflect it. It’s off the beaten path and I can’t wait to play it again soon
Down wind bliss
Greens are in terrific shape. Very plush and green.
Would definitely be back for more fun in the sun with lots of sand traps to catch wayward shots.
