Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

GREAT GREENS, BEAUTIFUL COURSE, GOOD VIEWS
Amazing course. Maintained greens. No complaints! Wonderful course!
Course was in fantastic shape
This course is a must play!! The greens were not super fast but had a true roll and well maintained.
Great
We live one hour from the course and we come here to play as often as we can. We love this course.
Well maintained
Challenging with great maintenance, worth the money
Moody Gardens Review
Front nine closed and back nine greens sanded and aerated but OK. Though it rained heavily the course drained quickly. Most fairways are narrow but very soft. Lots of water on most holes.
Beautiful Course!
This course is immaculate, best course ive ever been on!
Great course for the price.
It is a course you will play better the second time, because there were a couple of tee shot we weren't sure where to hit it.
Course was in great condition. Can't wait to get back
Had a great time out on the course. I haven't played out there since the mid 90's when it was still Galveston Municipal. The course was in tip top condition. Layout is beautiful, staff was friendly, and the greens were nice. Front 9 tougher than the back, but overall not too tough. Would recommend playing here to anyone. Next time I'm thinking of renting place nearby and making a weekend out of the trip. Only negative was the wind was brutal, nothing to the fault except nature. I'll be back.
Moody Gardens Golf Course
An absolute gem on Galveston Island. Course was in excellent shape. From what it was as Galveston Municipal to what it is now is like the ugly duckling becoming a swan!
Great Course
This was my first time to play Moody Gardens. The course is in very good condition and the staff was very friendly. This is a challenging course with lots of water and sand; you have to hit the ball straight on most holes or you are in trouble. I really liked the course and it was well worth the drive from Katy to Galveston.
Great Condition
It had been a number of years since I last played this layout. I can't remember exactly, but it was well before the redesign work a few years ago. I was very pleased with the condition of the course as well as the new improvements. We drove approx. an hour to the course and have already planned to make it a bi-monthly outing. The course was in pristine condition and I look forward to playing there again in the near future.
Great track, A must play if your are in the Galveston area!
I was on vacation with my family and went to play golf while everyone else went to the beach. I am a 6 handicap and play golf all over the country, but after looking at the condition of the beach in Galveston, I wasnt expecting much from the golf course. Boy was I wrong, this golf course has a great layout and it was in fantastic condition. The fairways are very large and forgiving but with water on every hole and strategicly placed bunkers it is challenging enough for even the scratch golfer. The condition of the fairways and greens were perfect, some of the best I've seen in Texas. The large greens are not what I would call "fast" but because of the perfect condition, they roll true and straight. The wind is always blowing off the gulf coast, so expect a 10-20 mph wind, but the course is laid out in a way that 1/2 of the holes play into the wind and the others play down wind. The course has five, Par 5's, a feature that I really liked.
They have a good driving range and a fantastic practice putting and chipping area. A great course and worth the green fees, I wish I could say the same about the beach!
A really, really fun course to play!
Awesome course!
This course was in excellent condition! Always fun to play here. Very forgiving tee boxes for ladies. Windy but just adds to the challenge. On-line deal for $23 at 12:40-awesome price for this course. Not very busy considering it was Father's Day. Staff was courteous.
Nice course
The last time I played this course it was still a muni. Job well done on the renovation.
Great place to play
The fairways were in better shape than most of the greens in the Houston area.
Staff is nice, the place is clean and well kept.
I will be going back soon.
Fantastic golf course
The staff was very nice.
The course was in outstanding condition. The fairway's was better than most greens I have played in the past months.
Great job.
Very good resort course
Water on every hole.Aways windy.Fairways and greens very good. With a GPS you will love this place.Great staff very hepful.Ladies tees makes course very playable not much water to cross.
Awesome Course
This course is always in great shape year-round. The staff is very friendly and easy-mannered. The available tee selections do a good job changing the level of difiiculty throughout the course.
fun to play and in great condition
Most times you will have a breeze coming off the gulf to add to the challenging terrain of the course. Mostly wide open fairways with some water on the sides but if you hit straight, the water is not a problem.
Great course!!!
Awesome course, greens were recently aerated so hard to evaluate them, but over all we had an awesome experience! The wildlife on the course was very enjoyable! I did not play very well so that was very frustrating! I loved the challenge, water is a consideration on every hole. You will find it almost impossible to find your ball in the hazards,so take plenty! The Marshall that was patrolling was very cordial!
