Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Excellent course
Great layout and location, greens were in great shape rolled true. The staff were friendly and helpful. Had the chance to play with two regulars (Marks and Hugh) who provided home course guidance and were a lot of fun to play with... if you are looking for golf in Galveston don't overlook Moody Gardens.
Slow play
Played here in the afternoon. The course was in good overall condition. The staff in the pro shop seemed like they were overwhelmed and didn’t really know what was going on. Pace of play was right on track with 4 hour round. Marshal came by what seemed like 10 times to remind us they close at 6:45 and all carts must be turned in. Really bothersome. Overall had a good time. And for the price around $55 was fun. This course was not worth the over $100 early morning asking price. Cart girl did come around multiple times during our round.
Such a great course
Staff was incredibly welcoming! Genuinely
wanted us to have a great experience and we did! Course is lush and green. Lot's of water and sand. Really fun!
Golf coarse is in great shape
Love the coarse! Hate the wind! But the wind always blows on the coast. Head down and stay for the weekend. But don’t come in the summer
Mike from Dickinson
After checking in, we wanted to hit some balls to warm up. The ball dispenser was empty. Not a good start, to our experience and to top it off starter was an elderly gentleman that was absolutely rude. Acted like he hated his job. To put it blunt. He was an angry old man..
First time playing Moody.
My wife and I had the 11:50 tee time .we were greeted by the very friendly lady at the pro shop.got to the #1tee and the starter gave us the run down which included the word water about 4 to 8 times.course is in great shape, fairways are lush and greens are firm but receptive.the day we played the wind was about 7 mph.not bad for a place where there is always a breeze.the best part was no mosquitoes as had been reported on. Great track, we enjoyed it so much we're going back to play again.
Excellent
Best course I’ve been on around the southeast Houston area.
Great price for a great course
And Dawn was extremely hospitable! Great service and I will be back!
Friendliest staff in Texas!
The course was in great shape. The greens had recently been sanded, but they were soft and putted true. The fairways were wide but in anmazing shape. The rough was thick but playable. Dawn who ran the pro shop was super friendly. The starter was full on info and pleasure to talk with.
I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I love a coarse with 5 par 5’s and 5 par 3’s
Lost some of its luster
The first time I played this course, about 4 years ago, I was amazed at the condition from tee to green. Easily a 5 star course. It's still a very good track, but it is a notch or two below what it used to be. Fairways were thin in spots, greens were recently punched and sanded, and some of the bunkers were sub-par.
On the bright side, with a slight helping breeze, I drove the 3rd green from the black tees.
skeeters
Mosquitos were horrible. Not bad....HORRIBLE. That being said, the fariways and greens are in good condition. However the greens need a little more time to recover from being punched. Bunkers are unplayable. If you play fairways and greens, spray down and go enjoy and great course.
