Sonesta Bee Cave

About Sonesta Bee Cave
The Sonesta Bee Cave is located 20 minutes west off Austin off Highway 71 in the Hill Country Galleria, home to a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is no golf course onsite but there is shuttle service to the nearby Lakeway golf courses, including public Falconhead Golf Club, and the hotel does have some limited access to the private courses at the Clubs of Lakeway. The Sonesta Bee Cave features a large, outdoor courtyard pool, 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,300 square foot ballroom. Lake Travis is minutes away where a marina can be accessed, and world-famous Hamilton Pool is also a short drive away. A highlight of the Sonesta Bee Cave is not only the galleria shops and restaurants but the hotel's own rooftop Meridian 98, which features cocktails and specialty plates in a lively setting that hosts live music.Facts

Don’t Play Here As A Single
I was pleasantly surprised at the cost to play here until I teed off. The course conditions are fantastic however the tee boxes could stand to be cut. They were a little thick.
I drove out to the warm up area and was happy to see multiple practice areas for short game, bunkers, and driving range. The only bummer was no actual grass you had to use the mats and they were like hitting off of concrete. The charge for a small bag was spendy too at $10 for 30 balls. Guess they had to pay for their automatic ball systems.
I teed off and was told it was wide open and it was until hole 4 where I ran into another single and they refused to let me join them until hole 9 where he was backed up and had no choice.
We made the turn and then the road block started. 4 four-somes that would not let me play through. The groups had no place playing from the tees they were using and there was not a Marshall to be found to move them along.
So, I decided enough was enough and called it a day. I would have loved to have played the back nine but alas that was not to be. Just happy to know I was not the owner of the repossessed jeep that was happening when I left for the day.
Poor Management and Staff
I usually refrain from writing bad reviews, but this was one of the strangest situations I've encountered in my 30 years golfing. I prepaid for the round. Checked in when I arrived without issue. Went and warmed up and went back into the shop to get balls. The guy at the counter asked my tee time again. He said he initially checked me in for the wrong time and needed to refund the original charge to my card and recharge me. First, there is no way he checked me in for the wrong time. My last name is unmistakable and he even repeated it saying it was a unique last name . I told him I pre-paid, and never gave them my card so there should be nothing to refund. The manager then came out. He has some sort of issue with golf now apparently. Said he would not honor the pre-paid green fee i had a receipt for, and they needed to re-charge me for the round, and I needed to go to golf now to get a refund for the round I already paid for. I've used golfnow over 100 times, never had any course come to me with this issue. What I believe happened is they gave someone in another group my discounted rate from golf now by mistake. To make up for the mistake, they decided to charge me full price since the other guys were gone. Either that, or they were annoyed I got a good rate on golf now. Which is ironic since I would have never been at the course if I hadn't used golf now and saw the discounted rate. Really strange experience. It is also a little confusing because if I hadn't gone back in to buy a sleeve of balls, I would have never gotten charged again for the round. So now I'm stuck paying double for the round, and have to deal with reaching out to golf now for a refund.
All to save the course what, like $10? Management has a lot of complaints on reviews, and I now see why. In the end, probably won't be going back to this course. Not really the way you want to start a round with some guys in the pro shop giving you a hard time about their mistake, all to save the course $5 or $10. The manager was ranting about golfnow taking money from the course. I asked him why they don't just take their course off golf now if it is such an issue, and he didn't really have an answer. Maybe he needs to realize a lot of the golfers that use golf now wouldn't be at your course without it
Course is nice.
Course is nice staff is great. It’s not a hard layout but has some challenging holes.
Good layout, some areas need maintenance
It's a good course, nice open layout for the most part. Some areas need repair / maintenance. Mid-week rate was good value for money.
All A+ except friendliness of staff- yikes!
We arrived 10 minutes before our teatime and spent that in the clubhouse waiting for someone to help us. We were at the golf cart pick up area at our teatime and we were disciplined by the employee. She couldn’t have been less friendly. I require no communication in general, but Being greeted with “2:06? You’re late.” No small talk is needed really but when we waited 10 minutes just to check in, and there was literally no one else standing in front of her, felt unnecessary and frankly if it wasn’t a Monday and my husband’s birthday, I would have been content to ask for a refund and just go home.
Course was beautiful, as usual and well-maintained. Other players were all relatively cordial and kept the pace of moving a little too quick for my taste, but we had no problems and really enjoyed ourselves. Well, only be back when the price is right otherwise we will stick to Lions where everyone is having fun and the staff is consistently friendly!
Nice Course but Slow Pace
This was my first time playing and the course is tricky but lots of fun. Overall conditions were solid and overall a much higher level quality course than I expected. If going on a weekend expect a 5 hour range duration as they pack in golfers. I woul return but during the week.
Great shape
Played here a few times. I live in New Braunfels so it’s a bit of a drive. One of the best courses around Austin. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Greens and fairways were excellent although my play didn’t reflect it. I highly
Recommend this course!
Great Course and Great price while using GolfNow App
Falconhead was in excellent condition. My tee time was at 2:24 PM, and I was paired with other people. Overall, the pace of play was good, and the course was in great shape.
Great shape especially in summer
Nice course in great shape. Hilly and tricky but due to the unusual summer rains and weather, the course was cart path only so it added a bit of and extra challenge.
Exactly what I was looking for in a golf course!
Okay, so I looked up best golf courses to play in Austin as I am from NJ, and the first course I played which was recommended by the pga site was ShadowGlen... don't waste your time with that course and just come here. This course is an actual legit golf course with fun hole after fun hole. Love all the elevated tee boxes to hit off of. This course actually allows you to lock in and hit fun difficult shots. It rained on the back nine, but didn't matter cause I was killing it. Shot an 87. Fantastic course 10/10. Definitely golf here
Excellent Layout
Greens are medium fast but bumpy. Challenging for speed and holding line.
The course showed some normal wear from the heat and a lot of play.
Our tee time was 4 PM. Cart beer was nonexistent but the snack bar provided well.
Overall EXCELLENT golf course for $50 each.
Golf carts need gps or add more yardages to the holes
Excellent
Beautiful course, maintained well, pace of play a little slow. One of the best courses I’ve played in the area. Will go back for sure, but maybe during the week for cheaper prices
