Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
About Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
Tapatio Springs is a modest-sized resort in the small Hill Country town of Boerne, located north of San Antonio. The 18-hole golf course, formerly 27 holes, underwent an extensive renovation and redesign project at the hands of Tripp Davis in 2015 to create an updated experience for golfers. Off-course amenities at this resort include a brand new clubhouse, home to the La Cascada Table & Bar, a social hub for the resort and local community. Owned by musician George Strait, the property features a singer-songwriter live music series on weekends.Facts

Tapatio Springs
The course and water features were in great shape after all the rain it has gotten this past year. It is closing on July 6 for renovations that are scheduled to last 6 weeks. It should be even nicer when they are completed.
Very Nice Place to Play
A little over priced unless you get a tee time on line. This course has vastly improved over the last year. Fairways and green are now in good condition on their way to becoming great. This course is deceiving and tricky. One must place his or her shots in the right location. It is nestled in the Hill Country and surroundings are beautiful. Staff is excellent and friendly and the club house is top notch. They are adding new amenities and are bringing this gem to a true resort quality course. Over all four stars out of 5.
Good round
Little drive from San Antonio but worth it. Good variety, challnge and conditions
Amazing Views
1st time at Tapitio. My son brought me for a belated Father's Day outing. Plenty of elevation changes, water, and scenery. If you're staying in San Antonio definitely worth the 45 min drive to Boerne .
great course
Sand a little compacted.... biggest issue... if that is an issue... overall... excellent, I will be back
Hill country treasure
Love this course
Challenging but still able to score ok.
Wish the Ridge was still open
Keeps Getting Better
I've been playing Tapatio for several years and it gets better with each visit. The staff is constantly making improvements to the course. On my most recent visit there were a few greens where new grass was planted and a couple bunkers that were under repair, but overall the course was in great shape.
If you want to get away from the city, experience the hill country, and play a round of golf for a reasonable price you can't find a better course than Tapatio.
Under construction
The course is making renovations but is still beautiful. Shot placement is key on a few holes. Lots of doglegs.
Looks and feels like the Texas Hill Country
Enough difficulty to not become complacent but easy enough that you will want to come back. It's like a ride in the park with beautiful Texas style homes surrounding the course. Excellent food and the staff is very friendly. Recent renovation to the driving range/practice is very appealing to the eye. We understand that much more of the resort facilities are to be renovated soon. It is very appealing as is but may just be storybook upon completion. We will visit again!!!!!!
Tapatio Springs
This course is under new ownership as of 6 months ago and you can already see the progress. The fairways are in great shape, the greens are fast and in good shape. The course design is outstanding and the views are spectacular. The staff is very friendly and the service is great.. Booked it on golfnow for $38 @ 12:30 on a Sunday.
Free range balls and gps on carts.
Hidden Gem
This course has been around for over 25 years, and I have avoided it due to the ownership woes they have had. The layout of the course is amazing it had just fallen into disrepair due to neglect. This is no longer the case. The greens are still a little rough and there are several bunkers under construction as well as other areas. That being said the views and overall layout is worth the money. I will play here often before they start to charge a premium price once all the work is completed.
Golf Course Improving
I've played Tapatio springs approximately ten times dating back over ten years.. There have been times where I thought this place was really struggling to keep up with other high end golf courses in the area. Recent ownership changes have been very good for this golf course.. You can see that they are making significant improvements to the course right now including Bunker repair, fairway improvements, and general ground repair. Tapatio Springs has always been beautiful, but now and moving forward I think you can expect it to be one of the better manicured courses around San Antonio.
good course for the money
played April 27th 2015. They were doing a lot of maintenance the day we played, plugging fairways installing new bunkers, fixing some of the tee boxes but we still enjoyed playing the course. I played back tees and the course was all i wanted as far as difficulty. Employees were nice and scenery was very nice liked the clear, clean river through course. Greens were very good, We liked course and will play it again after the mainteance is finished.
Nice course
Great layout getting better with all the improvements going on
3 Days of Rest
Great location, beautiful course, a staff that bends over to help you. The down side, called before making reservation & was never told the course & dinning area were being reworked. The course has it's water back, lakes & streams which makes for a beautiful setting.
Course under construction
I really like the layout of this course. They are putting a lot of work into the course. They just recently redid most of the tee boxes and they should be ready for play in about two weeks. They just started a project to add more bunkers and improve drainage. I see the upside to the improvements and think patience with the course and what they are doing will payoff in the future.
Course Renovations Made for Poor Conditions
I live in SA and drive out to Boerne every now and then to play Tapatio because it is such an awesome hill country course. Unfortunately on Sunday this was not the case. The course is going through some renovations and have construction going on on the course. They have moved thee tees on about 7 or 8 holes up onto the fairway which was no fun.
will go back once the renovations are complete. would not have gone out had I been told about the construction.
Over rate and over priced
This is the 5th or 6th time playing the course and it's never been in good shape. 9 of the jokes were under construction and half of those had temp tee boxes. Not one green was actually green or alive. All of them were dead or painted and it's been this way every time I visit. I love San Antonio so it's about 45 mins away and not once has this place ever been up to par with the price. Last 2 visits I had the fair ways were dead and greens were no better. The putting green wasn't even alive. Driving range was in the best shape I've ever seen, lush green grass everywhere and the course was not good at all. Last time I ever play here unless it's free and they pay for my gas or give me a ride to and from. Don't play here.
Potential Exists
This course appears to be under significant construction. Facilities are very nice but course is in poor condition as they work on it. Would be beneficial to tell players this rather than create a expectation that it is in good shape. However it looks like it will be very nice in the next couple of years.
Construction makes for unexpected makeshift tee boxes
Tapatio is going through some renovations. This means that some tee boxes on about 6-7 holes are moved way forward on the fairway. I just wish I had known before I drove to Boerne from SA.
Will return once renovations are complete.
