Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
About Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
Tapatio Springs is a modest-sized resort in the small Hill Country town of Boerne, located north of San Antonio. The 18-hole golf course, formerly 27 holes, underwent an extensive renovation and redesign project at the hands of Tripp Davis in 2015 to create an updated experience for golfers. Off-course amenities at this resort include a brand new clubhouse, home to the La Cascada Table & Bar, a social hub for the resort and local community. Owned by musician George Strait, the property features a singer-songwriter live music series on weekends.Facts

I know it going to improve but...
It's in tough shape now. While most of the San Antonio courses are lush and the greens are rolling well, but Tapitio was in poor shape. This course was a mainstay in our rotation but we definitely will not be back for awhile. It's a hike for us and not worth it anymore. Come on George, bring back the Ridge course!
Overall not happy
Went to this course to play after hearing a lot of buzz about how nice it is. Once I got to the green I was not impressed at all! The greens are very fuzzy and have been treated with chemical grass to make more grass grow. So they are an ugly ultra green color. Not worth the price. Plus I had to wait near 10 mins between every shot for the group ahead of me who felt they needed to hit 3 -4 balls from each position. No marshal was out to regulate pace of play. Very poor feeling I got from playing here. I won't be back.
Over priced for what you get...
Fairways were bare and hard, greens were in very poor shape. This course used to be nice but just isn't any more. Also, the starter was a real jerk. Not worth the trip, save your money for a better course.
This course is in Poor shape
I can not believe how bad this course is compared to the Public courses in San Antonio. Needs a lot of work on the greens .
Beautiful and challenging course, however...
I was expecting amazing things scenery, plush greens and perfect fairways. Though the scenery in the Hill Country never seizes to amaze the greens here are not what you expected. I know South Central Texas is having a little water issue, but I know several courses with greens that are impeccable. These are just down right upsetting. I did talk to some of the course staff and they are having issues getting the seed to germinate with the weird winter we had this season. The fairways are open and undulating and can be a challenge for the beginner and a moderate skill tester for the intermediate or advanced golfer. The pace of play was less than desired only because there was a tournament that launched in the morning and just about an hour remaining to finish up when I teed off. Nonetheless, I was grouped with a wonderful couple and made the slow play much easier to tolerate. The staff was super professional and eager to help you out whenever you needed anything. Overall I would still recommend this place because I know they are in the process in making some great changes and the greens will come around nicely.
Save your money
The staff is wonderful. The club house gorgeous. The course is a disaster. Terrible conditions. Shame. It's a beautiful property.
Bad greens
Greens were in bad condition! Some greens were unputtable.
Phenomenal facilities
Great course. Worth the drive. Tee boxes were a little tough but overall great challenging course.
Great hill country features
Played here a number of times. They are really spending money of fixing things and improvements.
Starting to do what is necessary to bring the course out of winter.
Good day, dry, winter conditions.
very helpful staff, good design, very dry conditions.
My Round at Tapatio
The course was just in overall bad shape. Greens are dead and unevenly cut. The fringe around the greens are overrun by the person cutting the greens. The fair way was full of wood chips and weeds. It was almost a penalty to hit the fairway. Not sure the last time the course was watered but it is in desperate need of some TLC.
I basically had to pick the ball up on the green and just take a two putt because they were really unplayable.
The course has tons of potential. Great facilities, layout and location. Just some good old fashioned water would take this course to a whole new level.
This course is really looking better
This course has a great layout and the grounds staff has made improvements. Good things are coming when spring arrives.
Dry Conditions but still fun
Played as a foursome, some of the greens are in rough condition due to the dryness. The course is scenic and fun to play, but I would not play here again until they get some water and grass on the greens.
Winter Texan's
Very nice, will be very pretty when the weather warms up and it gets a little water and sun. Lovely clubhouse. Staff all very courteous. The only difficulty we had was finding the course...no signage on Hwy 10 for the course, or on the road up once you find the turn in.
Good course
Good course. Nice staff. Beautiful setting. Can be pricey, unless a good deal is found on golf now.
Could be nice, needs improvement...
This course has a lot of potential, however, i assume due to the drought, and of course it being February when we played, the course was in pretty bad shape. The faiways were dry which left for a lot of tight lies, even if you right down the pipe every time. Greens, impossble! So dry and fast, and the way the pins were placed, you better make! If you misread of hit a little hard, its gone, especially figuring in the slope. If it were graded, it had to be over 13stint. Very frustrating! You could tell it has been dry for a very long time there. The greens were sprayed (green), and very sandy. I will play again, but not until they get some rain, and course conditions get better. I'm glad we playd for a discounted rate, if it were more, I would've done some major griping to King George! But I hope it impoves.
awesome day to play
The day was 70 degrees and beautiful, unfortunately, that meant a lot of people also wanted to play. There was a hard freeze in the last two weeks, so the grasses were severely affected. Greens were fast! I enjoy the day, but the course was in much better shape just two weeks prior when I played it.
Slow Play
Only complaint is never seeing a marshall. The slow 2some in front of us on the front nine turned into a slow 3some on the back. Ruined what would have been a great day of golf.
Great place
Great golf course. Nice scenery and an excellent staff. Located in Texas Hill Country adds challenging elevated areas, rivers and ponds run through out some fairways making for an extra challenging course. I recomend this to anybody at any level.
Fairways were hard packed
The greens were in good condition and were fast. The fairways were typical of West Texas, hard packed with tight lies. You can get held up behind slow players. Overall it was a nice course for the area.
