Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
About Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
Tapatio Springs is a modest-sized resort in the small Hill Country town of Boerne, located north of San Antonio. The 18-hole golf course, formerly 27 holes, underwent an extensive renovation and redesign project at the hands of Tripp Davis in 2015 to create an updated experience for golfers. Off-course amenities at this resort include a brand new clubhouse, home to the La Cascada Table & Bar, a social hub for the resort and local community. Owned by musician George Strait, the property features a singer-songwriter live music series on weekends.Facts

Where are the greens?
While the new ownership has secured water and put lots of $ into the course and facilities, the very poor condition of the greens detracts from an otherwise good to excellent facility, The greens are bumpy, very inconsistent, and some are nearly bare, especially in the first few holes. Not unlike they were 2 years ago before the new owners and water...not sure why. Some of the tees on the other hand don't seem to have been mown in weeks. Used to being in the rough after a drive, not before.
The course is beautiful and on a great piece of land. If they can solve the tee and green issues, it will be worth the $59 I paid, but not as it is.
Our expeience
We had not played the course in several years. There was quite a sum of money spent by the new owners on the facilities, but the simple fact that there was VERY little spent on the course is evident. A very inexpensive fix for the golf course health would be to create temporary greens, put about Two truckloads (or more) of sand on the greens would allow the greens to be brought up to somewhat playable with proper fertilization and maintenance in short order, less than 4 months in my opinion. Once such a beautiful golf course, this has continued to deteriorate to the point that is a laughingstock of "RESORT" courses.
Course is coming around
Have played here a few times. The staff is very friendly, the facility is top notch...reminds me of a high end private club. I played here a couple weeks ago and the course was still dormant. Now, it has really begun to green up...like most courses in the area, the warm weather is helping. The course was very busy...pace of play was about 4 hours and 25 mins.
New carts, gps, great challenging layout... I recommend this courses for the money and I can tell the conditions will only get better.
Tapatio Springs CC Golf Course
To be fair this golf course was almost completely destroyed & run into the ground by the previous owner(s). The new owners are trying to restore it to it's original condition; however, it has a very long way to go on the golf courses. The fairways I played rate at 5-6 out of 10. The 18 greens that I played (14) rated 0 (zero) out of 10, (2) rated 5 out of 10 & (2) rated 8 out of 10. The two courses (Lakes & Valley) I played of the three courses (the third course was closed for repairs) should have temporary greens opened on 16 holes until theses 16 are completely replaced & able to be put back into service. The price to play is v. excessive.
Great facilities and staff
The facilities and staff were excellent but the course leaves a lot to be desired. The greens are the worst I've played on in years. We finally just allowed automatic 2 putts.
Needs Water
Course was in need of water, greens were bad. Good layout and it could be great with more water and general care
Amazing Scenery, Greens Need Work
Tapatio Springs golf course was really great. The weather was perfect and scenery was amazing. The pace of play was exceptional as well. Only knock is that the greens needed a bit of work. Would definitely recommend
This course needs lots of work
Driving range was poor - tall grass and dirty balls. Golf cart was not cleaned - had previous players' trash. Rest of course was poor to average - needed mowing, greens need work, rocks in sand bunkers. Price was too high for course conditions. Don't plan to go back to this course.
Do Not PLAY here
Morning started with no one meeting us at the bag drop. We carried and loaded our clubs to the cart when it was close to our tee time. The driving range had very little balls to hit. We traveled from Delaware to play this Troon course which had great reviews and Troon's reputation. WHAT A MISREPRESENTATION OF GOLF. Greens did barely exist. There was little or no grass and very muddy. They were also littered with all knds of tree droppings and leaves. When I talk to the pro shop staff they seemed to be very disinterested. Troon and Golfnow should put on masks because they true robbers. My group sets this warning. DO NOT play here it is a joke.
Love the Hill Country
The course could use some work on the greens and I have been out two times and yet got to play the third nine holes.
Greens are horrid
Due to the lack of rain and water the course is hard dry and the greens are horrid
I know it going to improve but...
It's in tough shape now. While most of the San Antonio courses are lush and the greens are rolling well, but Tapitio was in poor shape. This course was a mainstay in our rotation but we definitely will not be back for awhile. It's a hike for us and not worth it anymore. Come on George, bring back the Ridge course!
Overall not happy
Went to this course to play after hearing a lot of buzz about how nice it is. Once I got to the green I was not impressed at all! The greens are very fuzzy and have been treated with chemical grass to make more grass grow. So they are an ugly ultra green color. Not worth the price. Plus I had to wait near 10 mins between every shot for the group ahead of me who felt they needed to hit 3 -4 balls from each position. No marshal was out to regulate pace of play. Very poor feeling I got from playing here. I won't be back.
Over priced for what you get...
Fairways were bare and hard, greens were in very poor shape. This course used to be nice but just isn't any more. Also, the starter was a real jerk. Not worth the trip, save your money for a better course.
This course is in Poor shape
I can not believe how bad this course is compared to the Public courses in San Antonio. Needs a lot of work on the greens .
Beautiful and challenging course, however...
I was expecting amazing things scenery, plush greens and perfect fairways. Though the scenery in the Hill Country never seizes to amaze the greens here are not what you expected. I know South Central Texas is having a little water issue, but I know several courses with greens that are impeccable. These are just down right upsetting. I did talk to some of the course staff and they are having issues getting the seed to germinate with the weird winter we had this season. The fairways are open and undulating and can be a challenge for the beginner and a moderate skill tester for the intermediate or advanced golfer. The pace of play was less than desired only because there was a tournament that launched in the morning and just about an hour remaining to finish up when I teed off. Nonetheless, I was grouped with a wonderful couple and made the slow play much easier to tolerate. The staff was super professional and eager to help you out whenever you needed anything. Overall I would still recommend this place because I know they are in the process in making some great changes and the greens will come around nicely.
Save your money
The staff is wonderful. The club house gorgeous. The course is a disaster. Terrible conditions. Shame. It's a beautiful property.
Bad greens
Greens were in bad condition! Some greens were unputtable.
Phenomenal facilities
Great course. Worth the drive. Tee boxes were a little tough but overall great challenging course.
Great hill country features
Played here a number of times. They are really spending money of fixing things and improvements.
Starting to do what is necessary to bring the course out of winter.
