Skamania Lodge

About Skamania Lodge
The Skamania Lodge in the scenic Columbia River Gorge has taken a new approach to golf with the complete redesign of its original course. The new 9-hole short course, The Gorge 9, and 18-hole putting course, The Little Eagle 18, debut in 2021 to make playing the game more casual and quicker for all players. The resort itself offers renovated guestrooms, suites with fireplaces and Treehouses perched high off the ground for the kid in everyone. Onsite activities take advantage of the natural surroundings with ziplining, an aerial park, axe throwing and outdoor basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. Within the gorge, go hiking, kayaking, fishing, tour six breweries or try wine tasting at 35 different wineries. Indoors, there’s a spa, pool, fitness center and game room.Facts

Beautiful experience
Beautiful course with very friendly staff. Played a 3 hour and 15 minute round on a Monday in June (walking solo with twosomes in carts in front of me). This course has a unique layout on each hole and immaculate greens putting a bit fast. The course places a premium on hitting it straight and knowing your distance for the club you're swinging. Only complaint is the grass was rather thin in the fairways and some greenside rough overly intrudes to the point of affecting playability on a few holes.
Narrow Skamania
Great course, very narrow, take extra balls. We have walked it several times with makes it a gorge hike/ round of golf all rolled into one. Well worth the drive.
Great day
Had so much fun with my buddy’s and the best round so far here.
Always have a great time. All staff is fun, happy and always nice and willingness to help.
Must shoot straight
This is a simply beautiful course layout with gorgeous views of the gorge. And the staff could not be nicer. BUT -- the course is extremely narrow, and the rough is totally unforgiving. If you are go off the fairway, you lose your ball - guaranteed, because there is nothing but tall, tall weeds and blackberry bushes everywhere. We are ok players -- one of us shoots in the high 80's, ow 90's, the other shoots in the low 100's. We lost 16 balls between us -- and we stopped playing on the 16th hole. The course is merciless when it comes to being off the fairway. So -- proceed with caution.
Good course
Bring balls if you can't hit straight, beautiful course nice walk or easy ride. Very friendly staff great course for the money. Will play there often.
Not your typical resort golf course
Gorgeous course in beautiful Pacific Northwest setting. My fourth time playing here and I still managed to lose several balls to the challenging course. Extreme elevation changes combined with tight and narrow fairways make for nervous tee offs and white knuckle approaches to greens, a slight hook or slice you can kiss your balls goodbye and so goes your scores. Single handicappers will enjoy this course but the rest of us can only dream of bogeying every hole, we will be back for revenge!
Beautiful views
We enjoyed this lovely course very much. It has beautiful vistas of the Columbia River.
We will be back
bring extra golf balls
I always love playing Skamania. It is a little tight so bring a few extra balls. The elevation changes help make it exciting. Not overly long, so anyone can play it from the correct tees. The natural beauty is spectacular. Late in the season it isn't too crowded. We had a great time there as always.
Just a great place to play golf
The only drawback is that the course is about an hour outside of Portland. Beyond that, it is a perfect place to play golf. Rolling fairways and fun, if challenging, holes make for a great day of golf. However, the staff at Skamania is the best. Always friendly and with a good sense of humor, they really make the drive out there worth it.
Skamania HEAVEN
I've stayed at the lodge on several glorious occasions and I have dined here with friends and ESPECIALLY the FEAST call Sunday Brunch. I have played this course half a dozen times before but it have ALWAYS encountered difficulties with the NARROW FAIRWAYS. Today, we turned the tables. Shot a 78 on a spectacularly pristine fall day ( Oct. 18th ) and loved EVERY MINUTE of it. We had the course almost all to ourselves and after a 5 hour leisurely game, me and my three other criminal friends agreed ... IT WAS NEAR PERFECT ! To share what a great day it was ... I left my shoes at home by accident and didn't realize it till I was checked in . My day was shot. The guy behind the counter asked me what size I wore and I said a 12 EEE. He told me to hold on. He goes in the back and comes out and says see if these will fit you. They fit like a glove. He said they were floor samples, never worn outside and I could borrow them. Seriously, they could not have fit any better and they were a beautiful pair of Nike's. When we were leaving he asked how'd we play and I told him what I shot. He asked how'd the shoes do. I told him PERFECTLY and thanked him for the loaner. He said ... KEEP THEM. Our shoe season is over and you can keep them FOR FREE. So to top everything else off, a $175 pair of perfect Golf Shoes FOR FREE. I LOVE Skamania Golf Course. Hope to play here again before it gets too cold.
beautiful
This is a beautiful course. It struggles with greens at times depending on the weather. However, must have been good summer as greens best of all times I have played them. They could be firmer but that would be too hard.
This is the ultimate in target golf. The tee shots are short but relatively tight. It is like playing 14 200 yard par 3s off the tee.
But fun nonetheless. If you don't hit it straight, you will lose plenty of balls. But then again, when you look for them, you will find many others.
Views are spectacular
Spectacular course
Spectacular course a must play if your in the area. Course staff other than pro shop attendants were about as friendly as a pay toilet in a diarea ward. Seemed very upity and non chalant. A must play if your innthis area with views of Columbia river gorge. Blackberry bush lined fairways good eating those ripe above waist level.
Fun track!
Yes, the course is tight...but w/ the short yardage this is to be expected. Played Skamania on a vacation while staying at the resort.
Excellent layout and especially liked the back 9 w/ a couple dramatic downhill par 4 holes. It is a unique course w/ great views of the gorge. Staff in pro shop and throughout resort is fantastic!!
Need marshals
The course was in nice shape but extremely slow even on a Wednesday because of beginners on a difficult course.....and no marshals. Also, no water on the course and the temp was in the 90s.
