Return to Port Ludlow GC
This was my 2nd time to this course, the 1st time my 14 yr old son and I only played the front nine. This time out I meet 2 others who where from the area so they knew the layout which benefitted me. The course, like the rest of Washington is going through a drought. The Fairways had patches of brown grassy areas and the roughs were easier from what I remember. The Greens were fast but true to the roll. With small patches of dried out patches.
I am only in my 5th yr as a golfer and I usually shoot in the mid to low 90's. I was able to keep it together by playing a safe game by not over swinging because of all the doglegs, tight fairways and many lies that could end up behind many trees. The tee boxes were a mixed patch of brown and green grass, but never affected your drives. The 1st and 2nd holes put me in for 2 double bogeys because of the blind shots over hilly areas, but the next 7 holes I was able to reajust and ended up with a 44 for the front. The back nine started off better with.two Bogeys and 2 pars but Mother Nature decided my fate with a continual rain and thunder for the rest of the afternoon.
This course is in bad shape
I've played here numerous times and never seen it in such poor condition. There must be a problem with irrigation system as fairways, tee boxes and greens are brown / dead.
This is usually a great course but they are obviously having problems now and I would not recommend playing here until they are fixed.
dry course
the courses was like play on concrete. very hard, dry ground with very little green grass. they reported that watering system was not working. this should have been disclosed to us at the course. maybe a discount or something because of the very poor condition of course.
Great value course
This summer has been hard on all the golf courses in the area, and this one is no different. But, it certainly is a better course than most, the fairways change elevation and undulate. The greens are a little fast, but are challenging. Overall, this course is a good one and fairly long.
Burnt out
Don't get me wrong, the course is picturesque with well framed holes, but it's playing pretty bad right now. The fairways are burnt out and very hard. The ball just bounces and rolls forever, most likely into a spot of bother. Once you get to the green, there slow and had to really hit them. Needless to say, it was a difficult, trying day. I understand it's been abnormally hot and dry, and water is expensive, but I feel this course deserves to be maintained better because it's a beautiful place. I hope it gets better.
Always a pleasure
I've played this course for over 25 years. One of my favorites. The driest I've seen it, because of the drought, I believe. Fairways a little rough, but greens fine. They've moved up the white tees to make it more playable for majority of golfers but still challenging and beautiful. Every hole is different and has it's own personality.
Great day
This is a beautiful course, challenging , enjoyable
staff goes out of the way to help have a memorable experience
This course was in the worst shape I've seen
I've enjoyed Port Ludlow for more than 30 years. It was in the worst shape I've seen. Many shots in the fairway landed in areas that had not been watered in weeks. Both greens and fairways were in poor condition. It was sad to see a premier course in such poor condition.
water
They have irrigation problem so they were hand watering. So greens were dry but didn't putt fast like one would think.. Good day my play wasn't.
Nice and fun
A very challenging course. And very beautiful. Very accommodating staff.
Overpriced
Greens were in excellent condition.
Fairways were spotty with brown hard spots.
Several ball washers lacked towels.
No beverage carts.
Played in the afternoon and maintenance personnel were still mowing the fairways.
Pace of Play POOR
Apparently the staff expects the average round to take 5 hours, because there was no enforcement of pace of play at all. We ended the round at 9 holes to end our suffering at almost 3 hours.
Nice course
Good course, good design. Very scenic terrain. Somewhat dry conditions and fairly slow pace of play.
Excellent deal
Course is in great shape. For a little more than a dollar a hole, no delays and no pressure from behind, does not get much better than this.
Great course. Fantastic staff. From now on I will play everytime I fly in.
Grest views awesome staff. Please get showers fixed
Not one of my favorites
Staff was very friendly! Maintance was poor. Grass clippings & yard waste everywhere. Signs were limited & not easy to read. All hole flags were blue regardless of position. Course was still fun to play.
worth the drive
difficult for a hacker - shot over my handicap nice area
Beautiful
a real gem Of a course. Fun to play and couldn't ask for a prettier course.
Very Satisfied
Me and the little lady decided to play a round of golf this Mother's Day. I had stayed at the resort 26 years ago when the course was still under construction and never returned to see the finished product until now. The course is very scenic and the played pretty fair from the blue tees. The service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Other than being happy that we finally had the chance to play the course having a power cart was the best choice. Though gorgeous, the elevation changes would have worn me out. All in all we will be back there as some as possible to play it again.
Used to be in better shape
Course needs some TLC. Weeds in sand traps. Grass spotty & clumpy on edges of fairway.
