Devil's Head Resort
About Devil's Head Resort
Devil’s Head Resort in Merrimac in Sauk County has grown from a small ski resort to one of Wisconsin’s best ski-and-golf destinations. The resort opened in 1970 with a 92-room hotel, four chairlifts and 10 runs in 1970. Today, Devil’s Head offers two golf courses, 138 hotel rooms, more suites and condos, six dining options, a conference center and more chairlifts and ski runs. Art Johnson designed both courses, Glacier and Prairie Glen. Glacier navigates a maze of elevation changes with rugged features of rock out-croppings and water on seven holes. Prairie Glen offers its own challenges with island greens and plenty of water and traps.Facts

Excellent course
We had an excellent time but you should make sure you have plenty of golf balls. It seems like the woods swallow them up.
Fun Time
The Course had some fun holes and the overall the shape of the course was good. We paid $18 with a cart so the value was outstanding...will play again this year, it is a course you need to play a few times before you can score well.
great day golfing
the course was great for the price, have played several times before, up keep was little lacking but I think that was do to all the rain they received. over all was good and will play again.
I'LL BE BACK!
We went to play 18 and had to play 36 instead! My group will make Devils Head Glacier and Prairie Glen a regular stop every year!
Nice Course with devills-gift restrooms
The course itself is very pretty and has iddillic mountain fairways; there are also interesting holes on the back-nine - flat, but challenching with Waters and Greens on isles. Some Greens were quite un-green.
The only bad remark is the catastrophic restrooms-small, some were not repaired and extremly dirty.
A shame for such a nice course : apparently the devils gift......
a little bit of rude
This is the second time we have played this facility.
Each time we had signed up for the prairie course and each time we have been switched to the glacier
course.
The people at the check in station are the next thing to rude as they say, "golf now"!, and then give you a cart number and basically turn their back to you and ignor you the rest of the time. I actually had to follow him around to get his attention to ask him a question.
Don't be fooled by the name "Prairie"
Great course to play! It's got great elevated tee's and fun par 3's some with water...You still get up in the mountains even if it's called the "Prairie" course!
Great Value for the Golf Now price
Great place to get away from it all! It's still close enough to Sauk City that it makes for a great day getaway!
Beautiful views
Weather was threatening so we had the course to ourselves. The views were fantastic! We golfed slowly and enjoyed the surroundings. Top quality course with lots of challenges. Not sure I would want to pay the regular $74 rate but sure enjoyed my GolfNow rate. Will play course again next year.
Great Weekend Getaway.
I played this course as a stay and play package with unlimited golf and accommodations. With that in mind it is great value ($99, 2 days unlimited golf and 1 night lodging). The daily greens fees are probably too expensive for this course for just a daily rate. It's real value is in a package deal. The layout is extremely fun and provides a great variety of terrain, elevation change and scenery. The fairways were in good shape and yardages were all very clearly marked and seemed accurate. The greens however were in pretty bad shape. They did not roll smoothly and were very dry. The speed varied greatly throughout the facility and made it very difficult to gauge putting speed. The lodge is very dated and needs some updating, but serve the purpose of providing easy access to the golf courses and ski slopes in winter.
it was a good time, would play again, good value for the money
The course was fun to play, very scenic, golf course has some great features, some neat challenges
Great Value
This is a quality resort course offering a great value during off peak times. The scenery is spectacular.
Great golf experience.
We played the Glacier course. Beautiful design. Course was in great shape. Would likely play the Prairie Glen course next time to experience the different layout.
Poor poor poor
I really hate to bash a golf course but this place just had too many issues. From no water in any of the on course water coolers, to hardpan lies all over the course, to dead spots and even just dirt on the greens, and finally having to follow a group of 7 with five carts, this course was just not enjoyable at all.
For the scenary alone, this course is worthwhile!
The fairways are pristine, however some of the greens and tee boxes are not in the best condition and need some attention. The views from the top of the course are really great, so take a look down towards Lake Wisconsin, but don't take your eyes off of some of the tight fairways!
course review
We paid $20 a person per round so you can't beat the price...the course was in pretty good condition but most of the greens were very hard with burnt spots all around...still for $20 you can't really complain.
great course for the money.
I had a great time playing both courses. Sure there was a couple greens that had issues but other than that the course was in great shape. Glacier has some beautiful views and challenging holes. Played 2 days ago, gonna play out again today.
Great day
Sad that this course was so empty on a holiday weekend.
My wife and I had a great time. Greens were slow but well maintained. Layout is unique and requires a concentrated effort. Tough to do with the views and challenge.
Staff was friendly and let us start early.
Great value on Golfnow
very challenging course
The course conditions were ok. The course has a very challenging layout. The price a think is a little high, but has to do with being close to the dells. For the right price its worth a look.
Great course with scenery
Had relatives from out of state visiting, loved the course.
Reasonable priced and maintained course. Would come back again.
